It was ass-o'clock in the morning when Memo's phone pinged with the ranger alert. Terrified it was some other trauma-induced breakdown, he rolled over and was awake immediately, snatching the device from where it rested on his bedside table.

No trauma, but still, maybe a breakdown?

Moments later he was dressed and zooming out of Slateport's run-down districts towards the coast.

His Togekiss tucked into Shoal Cave so quickly Memo had to press himself down to avoid being scraped off on the cavernous ceiling. They landed, and out from his bag came the small, blue incense. Despite the cold and the damp it lit quickly, and Memo set it down to do its job: attract Ice-types.

It was always a risk, Pokemon hunting. You could be rewarded, or you could come up empty-handed-- or be ripped to pieces.

(Maybe he should let Alex know where he was at, just in case? Were they at that stage? Was that a thing that... that couples did?)
