Onyx had spent his fair share of time trekking through the wilderness in search of Pokemon. What had once seemed an insurmountable task of maximum effort was now more of a relaxing past-time, given that his new normal was bashing skulls and putting himself (and others, that part shouldn't be forgotten) in danger on a regular basis.

He pushed out into a clearing onto a well-worn footpath. Zia quorked above him.

But god damn, if this was another Iggly-jiggly-wiggly, he would have a fucking coronary right then and there.

He didn’t think anything of the mushroom until it rose up before him, growing exponentially larger in the blink of an eye. Onyx knew enough about Amoonguss to know that it spat poisonous spores, but Zia was a step ahead of him, lighting atop the creature’s Pokeball shaped head and poking it full of holes with drill peck. Where she connected, it made a soft sound, like parting flesh, and the Amoonguss wilted on the spot.

Onyx nabbed it in a Pokeball as Zia went to rub her beak off against a tree, sharpening it like a blade on a whetstone.
