For most of Priscilla’s life past eight, she’d been forgotten. A shadow upon the wall within the four walls of her home. Both parents worked, and they were rarely home. From the moment she was old enough to be alone, it felt as if they forgot about her. No Pokémon to keep her company, no friends that wanted to come over.

Then one day it’s all gone. Father lost the company to debt. She didn’t question it when she found her father trying to learn how to tie a noose. He tried to wave the matter away by claiming he was just reconnecting with his old scout days. She knew better. Even as a twelve-year-old, her dad’s lie was easy to see through. When he went on a camping trip and never came back, she knew what had happened.

She wanted to cry for the man she remembered from back when she was a little girl. But her mother told her to suck it up. Once again she was left alone as her mother tried to find work one way or the other. Used to a better lifestyle, one which the woman fervently clung to. The hours grew ever longer at the company, and the men her mother took home grew shadier.

So when she at age eighteen found her mother lifeless in bed, an empty glass of water, and an equally empty bottle of pills on the nightstand, she was not surprised. Once again she felt the pressing on the chest, the pain that needed to be released. But all she heard was her mother’s cruel words telling her no. On that day, she found the tallest empty building in Slateport City. For an hour she just stood there, wondering if it was worth continuing, clearly fate had a plan in mind.

She threw herself off the roof of that building, or she would have. Had she not been halted by a wild Spinarak. No matter how much she fought, she could not get out of its silken thread. At last, she gave up. Death was not to become her. The Spinarak took her with it, sensing her distress. It tried to give her purpose, a family even if it was a mix-match of Bug-type Pokémon.

And that’s where we find her now. A month later, she is finally ready to take her first few wary steps into a future unknown.
