A wild FOMANTIS is found forming WEATHER BALLs in a grass clearing hidden away within the forest. At the sight of the pair, however, it allows its aggression to get the better of it. The orb-like vortex of wind and rain is sent shooting towards Xiomara like a cannonball and strikes.

In the haze of cloud that fills the clearing afterward, however, the Misdreavus disappears... until it reemerges behind the bug and strikes with a ferocious PAYBACK. It sent limping away afterward, and they carry on.

A WILL-O-WISP follows them for about a half mile before it attacks aggressively. Xiomara is quick to evade the seemingly sentient wisp of blue flame, and spots the tell-tale red gleam of a DUSKULLs eye hiding in the bushes nearby. Without instruction, she chases the other ghost down and fires off a SHADOW BALL.

Cade catches up to the pair just in time to see his Misdreavus' attack hit. A wave of wispy, purple smoke spreads throughout. When he sees the Duskull fading in and out of reality, however, he swiftly produces an empty ball and throws it for an attempted capture.

A MAGIKARP suddenly BOUNCED out of the river, hitting the ground with a loud slap before it started to FLAIL. Walking down the forest path that bordered this river, Cade briefly stopped to regard the pathetic creature. He knew it might evolve into a powerful serpent someday... but, more likely than not, it would become easy prey for something larger.

Deciding this one wasn't worth his time, the one-eyed blonde continues walking. Xiomara follows closely behind, after briefly casting the fish a look of pity.

The GROOKEY incessantly banged its stupid little stick against the tree branches above. And, when they moved out from under it, it followed them. Eventually, Xiomara lost her patience and struck it with a SHADOW BALL.

The little ape shrieked and howled as it plummeted towards the ground below. It hit said ground with a thud before scrambling to lift itself up and run away. Cade laughed.

A BULLET SEED from the nearby river sent Cade diving for cover. Splinters of wood from the tree trunk he hid behind rained down from above. Eventually, he's happy to peek out and see his Misdreavus appear behind the territorial REMORAID.

Xiomara dishes out some well-deserved PAYBACK, too. The little fish doesn't even expect it! In its panic, it leaps out from the water and lands on the bank nearby. Cade emerges out from his cover swiftly thereafter, casting a ball at it before it has a chance to bounce back into the river.

The little salamander appears OBLIVIOUS to their approach as it snacks on the carcass of some half-eaten insect. Having hoped to come across one of these, as its evolution was highly regarded as battle Pokémon, Cade pulls an empty ball out of his pack before sending Xiomara forward. In a soundless glide, she does so.

Then, at nearly point-blank range, the SALANDIT is struck with a POWER GEM. It is cast against a tree and tries, in vain, to blind the ghost's vision with a MUD SLAP. The move misses, however, and the creature is struck with Cade's empty ball next.
