but she's a doctor, not a dentist; there's a difference. she also can't do it because she has someone here with her, and obviously, no one would like to witness that bloody scene. so they're on plan b: trying to find what teeth wash up on the shore. though they're rare, the fact that they can show up on the shoreline makes it a safety hazard. [break][break]

so she's doing two good deeds. [break][break]

a red gyarados rises from the water, just further out (you never know if anything could wash up in the deeper crevices), and she spares it a glance as she approaches the waves. the woman kicks her sandals off to walk barefoot into the sad, hands pinching and raising her skirt to spare it from the waves before leaning down to pick a smaller tooth from the muddied sand.[break][break]

"i found one." she raises her voice, holding it up into the air with her ever-changing expression. "it doesn't look like endo's found anything, though." she tilts her head to the red gyarados, who almost.. pouts as he raises his head above the water. [break][break]

”Only a couple, but it’s still more than I thought I’d grab…” he hummed, briefly narrowing his eyes further as they scanned along the sands beneath his feet. ”Given how huge the place is, I wasn’t even sure about finding one...”[break][break]

After a fruitless search, he breathed a sigh, shifting his gaze towards the ocean in time to see the crimson hued serpent break the water’s surface. Despite his earlier disdain, he curled his lips inward in a subtle attempt to stifle an amused grin, only for the attempt to falter altogether at the note of his own Gyarados surfacing a bit further away.[break][break]

His jaw dropped, dumbfounded, as the beast spat a few objects onto the stones of a nearby tide pool.[break][break]

”It…looks like someone had some better luck, though…” he murmured, furrowing his brows as a curious glance cast itself upon the waters.[break][break]

He half expected to see red somewhere.[break]
He was glad that hadn’t been the case.

let it be known to the world. [break][break]

gyarados are very competitive when they want to be. [break][break]

at the sight of the other gyarados having more luck than he was, he pouts all the more. after all, how is that fair? when they were looking at around the same areas??? it wasn't. point blank period. in the distance, the red gyarados could be heard splashing his tail in.. the water, like he was throwing a small tantrum. "... endo--" marisol calls out first, only for her to be met with the sound of water splashing about, waves rippling through the waters as his long body submerges itself again. [break][break]

"and i think that luck made someone jealous.." she grunts, carefully moving out of the water and back onto the sand. her feet were wet, and it feels gross. suddenly she remembers why she's such a homebody. disgusting. [break][break]

on the other hand, a pink corsola waddles along the shore, singing tunes as she rocks (heh) back and forth along. a seel is in tow, clapping his.. fins? flippers? along with some improvised music. even though they should be working, it looked more like.. they were trying to form a.. marching band? "oi, you two focus, too."

A cackle escaped his lips, instead, seeing the little tantrum from the red serpent.[break][break]

It was followed by a couple more upon noting the beast’s tail splashing some ways within the more distant waters, only vaguely stifled as he cupped the inner workings of his fingers against his lips. The laughter trailed into something more muffled, which then transitioned into more of an elongated, ongoing hum of amusement.[break][break]

There was something endearing about seeing a beast so renowned for its power and rage act as a child.[break][break]

”I’m sure it’s just friendly rivalry,” the man chuckled, eying his own beast as he ogled his finds a bit longer, only snapping from his trance and returning to the waters once his companion started first. ”It’s always funny to see how even Pokemon have egos, though~...”[break][break]

He hummed, glancing towards the remaining lion cubs as they tussled for a moment or two, only peer towards an incoming Tyrantrum. Perking up, the trainer turned towards him after his approach, blinking and reaching up towards a couple of opened, clawed hands held out to him.[break][break]

He eyed the teeth dropped into his palms, raising his brows in impression while beginning to carefully shift them within his grasp for examination.[break][break]

”...Maybe we should just let them search, though…” he murmured, pursing his lips. ”It seems like they’re having better luck, anyways…”

"the pride comes from the golden days." [break][break]

literally. back when he was a golden magikarp and he thought he was the hottest fish in the pond. she can only imagine how much trouble he's caused the other poor, red fish. he makes such a spectacle of his colour that it gets old at some point. but it's also because of that, he refuses to lose. man says it's a friendly rivalry? maybe that's the case, to some degree. marisol knows that this is a matter of his pride, though. [break][break]

she glances to the greninja who approaches from the water, a few fangs in his hands as he walks onto the shore. how lucky that the grains of sand just fall off the slick body. she's jealous. [break][break]

taking the fangs, she quirks a brow and lets out a soft sigh. "it's either their luck, or our unluckiness.." a hand raises to brush under her bangs. it's hot as hell. thankfully, a breeze blows from the sea, prompting a sigh of relief from her. [break][break]

"first it was luvdisc, now it's sharpedo.." she groans, taking a look out at the shimmering caused by ripples of waves "i'm starting to see a pattern here."

And he did, slightly, as evident by the smirk that tugged upon his lips at the thought. A chuckle escaped his lips as well, though trailed into a soft hum before long as he slipped the teeth he’d been given away for safekeeping.[break][break]

”Maybe it’ll be Milotic scales next,” he mused as amber hues returned to the sands beneath them, searching once more. ”I feel like someone would be looking to get them for whatever reason, too…”

do people have any idea how rare milotic were, to begin with? never mind how difficult it was to find them in the wild to begin with, they are already known to get quite violent if they're threatened. it's nowhere near the volatile nature of gorebyss, but she knows better than to approach anything that looks pretty in the water, now. [break][break]

"there's so much superstition about the sea.." she groans, continuing to walk along the sand as the tide raises, occasionally letting the waves hit her ankles. ".. it's a little regretful that i couldn't get my hands on a luvdisc scale, though." she sighs again, eyes narrowed "i have an acquaintance who very loudly complains about her lack of recent love life. maybe a luvdisc charm could help her quiet down."

A teasing furrow of the brows tented above his eyes upon hearing her initial retort, all while pursed lips of faux(?) judgment surfaced alongside them. Though he hadn’t touched upon it, he simply hummed in the midst of her praise, and he simply wondered if she’d been serious or not within it.[break][break]

…Oddly enough, he wouldn’t have been surprised if it was.[break][break]

”If she’s really the type,” he started off, chuckling, ”then I feel like she’d sooner question why it doesn’t work when she has it, honestly~.”[break][break]

He crouched further along the shoreline, running his fingers through the grains beneath him.[break][break]

”...Is this that same friend that threw you into the blind date you mentioned a while ago~?”

it's the sound of a groan as the memory's playing in her mind. "tell me something i don't know.." she raises a hand, pressing against her forehead as a sigh of exasperation pushes from her lips. she's reminded that she talked about her blind venture, to which she lets out another sigh, though there's a little less exasperation behind it. [break][break]

"yes, her. she's also the one who set you up on your blind date with fiora." just her luck that astra would go out of her way to set the young lady with him, of all people. and she wonders why the brunette seems to be surrounded by men like she's the female lead in a drama. [break][break]

"if she has time to throw us into blind dates, she should go on some more, herself.." marisol narrows her eyes, kicking the water that comes to her feet. "speaking of, how did your date go?" she tilts her head now, raising her gaze to eye him curiously.

Amidst the amusement came a speck of surprise, evident by none other than the raise of brows and the faint widening of eyes. With some minor degree of disbelief, a small puff of a laugh left his lips.[break][break]

”...You two know Fiora?” he mused, his brows falling from their raise and into a soft tent of amused enlightenment. ”And your friend was the—...”[break][break]

Another laugh escaped his lips as it processed, that time accompanied by a faintly broader smile.[break][break]

”Huh. …Small world~.”[break][break]

He crossed his arms, a smile ongoing as he thought upon the revelation further.[break][break]

”Uh… It went fairly well, all things considered~.” His lips curled inward in an attempt to stifle a larger smile to no avail. He shrugged in good humor and dismissal. ”She obviously had someone else on the brain, though. We’re just friends~.”

it's a small pout, unamused when she squints. suddenly the idea of kicking water at him is becoming a lot more appealing, and would you look at that, she's walking a bit more into the water, catching up to a man as she walks just in the tide. "i think i know who you're talking about." and she'll groan at the image of him. looks like he was finally starting to sink his grubby little fangs in her. poor girl. [break][break]

"i'm offended, though" now she narrows her eyes, and his small series of laughter makes this all the more tempting to do. and, would you look at that? because she lifts her leg a bit, creating a small wave with the side of her foot before opting to splash a man with the sea water. this is her defiance. [break][break]

"one, i said acquaintance. and two--" she starts to kick up another wave, trying to send it over to him a second time "is it so surprising to hear that i talk to people?" no, she isn't happy with that. it'd be easier to take her seriously, were it not for the small pout on her lips - you can practically draw parallels to her and the red gyarados in the distance.

He hadn’t had the chance to meet this man himself, but even then, ‘small world’ started to become a bit of an understatement with how many people they both seemed to know…[break][break]

With a soft chuckle, he’d been about to lean down to brush a hand through the tides and sands beneath him, only to shift his eyes towards the side just in time to get a near mouthful of water. His hand snapped up instead as a feeble means of shielding himself, and with a small wheeze, he pursed his lips while eying her.[break][break]

”I dunno, it still sounds like you’re friendly enough if she— ugh—!” he began, only to cut himself off as another splash surged towards him.[break][break]

Although he kept his hand up, the second time seemed to be the charm as he immediately stood back up, shaking the water that quickly soaked into his sleeves off to the best of his ability.[break][break]

He stared at her after letting the splash sink in long enough, squinting with an exaggerated intensity before tapping the Pokeball of a particular Primarina before pointing at the woman.[break][break]

”...Hydro Pump~.”

ah, good, right on target. [break][break]

and she did it second time, then she'll do it a third time, too. she's about to, actually, just until she's satisfied with the result. it wasn't her intention to give him a mouthful of water, but that was a bonus when she was able to do that. and a second time, too. [break][break]

her pout turns into a small smile as she lowers her foot back into the water, as do her hands lower her skirt a bit, just enough so the waves don't crash into her sundress. there's a moment of processing as she eyes a man, then her lips manage to crack a tad as a hand rises to press against her lips, stifling laughter. [break][break]

unfortunately for him, a soft "pfft.." still manages to get through the cracks. the exaggerated squint was amusing, and she can only tilt her head with a lingering, near coy smile. "why are you giving me that look?" she's asking so innocently, although the coyness fades as she watches a primarina get sent out, and it's given a command.[break][break]

almost immediately she reaches for a pokeball, sending out her cursola to respond with "mirror coat" in front of her, catching most of the hydro pump - and not enough to save her entirely, with water splashing at her from behind. still, the ghost pokemon is able to reflect what was caught back to, you guessed it, leonidas.
