Leading up to Splash fest, Penelope wanted to ensure one thing and one thing only: she would have a rocking summer body before that swimsuit contest. Winning wasn't everything, but they best believe she'll be doing her best to take home the gold. Huffing and puffing, the reporter jogged along the narrowing dirt path, her dragonite flying overhead. He was SUPPOSED to watch out for any opposing traffic.

But, of course, the whimsical Pokémon had found itself distracted just in time for Penelope to nearly crash against a familiar one-armed figure.

"Councilman," She greeted, barely managing to swerve to his side. "Didn't think I would see you here."

gabriel holds an arm out, ensuring the woman's approach is met with a buffer. had she just continued into him, well, she wouldn't much enjoy it.

a movement of shadow forces him to shake his head, the figure falling back to shadow once more.

Unlike her boyfriend, running wasn't exactly a strong point under the reporter's resume. If anything, it would be her answer for one of those interview questions; "What would you say are your biggest weaknesses?", "running.".

As they continued to walk, Penelope would raise her hand and gesture for her Dragonite to come down from the skies. The occasional lurking shadow made it apparent that they were not alone. "How about you? Going out for an afternoon walk, or?"

"more or less," he replies, turning his head to face a lumbering giant of a pokemon. camerupt stared gabriel down, and the councilman met it with a wilting one of his own.

eventually, it turned to leave. he allows it. behind them, and off the beaten path, the arcanine follows after. soon enough, it'd be incapacitated and ready for gabriel's capture.

The question came without warning. Like a bullet spat out from the muzzle of a gun, it pierced through her oxygen deficient lungs, staggering her without effort.

"I enjoy reporting on it." A classic non-answer. Politics and journalism were two titans constantly fighting at each other's throats, so she knew better than to say more than necessary on the topic. Especially toward a councilman. "Why?"

Easing into a slow walk beside him, she gave the area the occasional gaze, making sure no other pokemon randomly stumbled along their path. If anything, her dragonite could take care of it.

"I do," She conceded that, at least. There was no hiding her natural inclination towards productive conversations, whether that be in the form of a debate or simple talk. "As long as they're productive."

The soft afternoon breeze tickled the back of her neck as they continued their stroll. At one point, from the corner of her eye, the reporter was barely able to spot out an unnatural tuff of beige fur that stuck out from the shrubbery. Curious, she paused long enough to investigate.

"No offense, councilman," She called out, over her shoulder, as she walked. After a second of leaning forward and rustling around in the bush, she pulled out a small fire pup from the ground. A growlithe. The pokemon gave a soft bark as she returned to the councilman's side, dog now cradled in her arms. "I didn't dedicate my entire career on critiquing the league only to work under a councilman."
