a voice catches his ears. he turns, seeing theo beckett. they met previously, though the memory of it doesn’t mean much more to sam than apologies for a task sam had to clean up. he’s used to it, and is unbothered.

”mr. beckett. welcome back to the mountain. what’s the occasion?”

in sam’s eyes, uprooting major pedophiles that were smuggling beneath rocket’s noses and stealing from them was orientation enough. but he keeps the thought to himself.

wouldn’t want to make enemies coming right out of the gate, right? better to have a good handle on the situation before deciding when and when not to be sassy.

”to be clear, the affiliation i hold is with the prescotts. not rocket itself.”

it seems theo and sam are of the same cut, getting straight to the point with no social lubrication was one of sam’s many flaws.

but he prefers it that way, and this much shows in how unbothered he is by saying so. he watches theo for a moment, contemplating, and decides to ask;

”why are you really here? i’m sure it wasn’t just to say ‘welcome.’”

the thought that ‘all the plots’ could possibly be occupied is … laughable. the mountain is quite large and, honestly, sam often offers cremation to those who come ‘now a days’ as the method for burying the dead can often lead to rot and ruining the lands themselves.

but he doesn’t laugh. sam doesn’t even smile. instead, he just shakes his head and says,

”it’s a rather large mountain. i’m still discovering new things every day.”

but why would theo need to know if there were plots available?

”what are you in the market for?”

that was … definitely curious. the sort of curious that had sam’s barely knitted brows relaxing. the sort of thing that sam wouldn’t have expected.

a breath of fresh air in the realm of rocket, really.

”mt. pyre is a place of rest for those of all factions. i can pull up the larger plots and so long as they’re signed under a name and paid for, they’re for use in whatever way that person sees fit.”

so long as theo bought them under his name, passed them onto whoever would take his place at his passing, they’d remain a ‘resting ground’ for rocket if that’s what he wanted to use them for.

the paperwork would be relatively simple. it would be something sam sends to theo via contact information. information that would need to be given at the front desk.

hopefully he wouldn’t have to explain the process of e-signing something to theo. he wasn’t terribly good at explaining technology.
