The heatran leaps into the air again, fully expecting to dodge the earth power he had been accustomed to seeing over and over. However Shaymin this time instead focused her energy into putting more of a heat wave into it. Heatran was slammed into, the earthly energies slamming into it's underside scoring a CRITICAL HIT. [break][break]

The heatran's firey rampage comes to a close, sending one final MAGMA STORM towards shaymin. Afterwards it slams onto the floor, skidding along as it spun out towards Melody's side of the field and faints. [break][break]

She frowns, she had been pushed back again by Katherine, was she going to lose here? She couldn't allow that to happen. There was only one pokemon left for her to call out, she recalls heatran and fumbles as she looks at her pokeballs, unsure of who to use next. Yet the door behinds her opens as suddenly an unexpected visitor arrives into the chamber. The clicking of hooves familiar to the two trainers. [break][break]

"Cobalion?" she says in disbelief as he looks at his, his unchanging gaze locked onto her and no one else. He was responding to her feelings of wanting to win, to achieve victory. She didn't want to fail and they both knew he was his hardest hitter. He put his feelings on battling aside for her. She pauses as she puts her pokeballs away, "I'm using Cobalion for my last Pokémon." she says waiting for Katherine to be ready to continue the battle.

The final MAGMA STORM manages to not only leave Shaymin in a critical condition but also inflict a BURN on the grass-type's mane of now-dried leaves.

It already charges a SYNTHESIS while Melody Miro sends out her third and final pokemon, but Katherine's hand rises and gestures for it to stop.

"That's enough," she instructs before also retrieving a Pokeball, "you need rest." Naturally, sending it back to its capsule also activates its NATURAL CURE ability, tending to the BURN and likely stabilizing it in the process.

"Cobalion, hrm?"

The elite four sucks a breath through tight teeth before another Pokeball is found, and the beast it contains within is released. Nihilego emerges in a silent twirl, performing to a captive crowd as always.

"I was afraid of remembering everything when it fused with me and panicked." she admits out loud to katherine, her peer deserved to know the truth. "But I'm not afraid anymore." she said as if trying to convince herself she had moved on. [break][break]

She knew she didn't have to ask twice, his appearance was enough to show he was determined to help her. "Alright Cobalion. Let's over come this. Together." the determination in her eyes to win burning in her eyes, almost enough to light up the room itself. "Cobalion! give em the stare!" she says as Cobalion's eyes flash yellow as it stares down nihilego unleashing as sneaky THUNDER WAVE.

Melody pumps her fist into the air as it seems that the THUNDERWAVE was successful. A sludge wave however spills forth, filling the room quickly. However Neither melody nor Cobalion really react to it as Cobalion's steel typing protects it fully. [break][break]

They both seemed to be in the same type of predicament..Melody didn't know much about Nihilegos aside from their capabilities to create toxins, but it seemed the same applied to Cobalion with Katherine. If it was good at creating poison, that meant it was at least poison type right? "Alright Cobalion! Aria!" she called out as Cobalion drew his sword out, swinging it twice creating two thick slices of air via AIR SLASH. [break][break]

Yet Katherine asked Melody a very sudden question. Did she really want Kyle's job? It was one that she herself was still unsure of. She stays silent at first, unsure of what exactly to even say to Katherine so she just decides to blurt out the first thought in her head instead. "Yes." she answers simply. "I do." [break][break]

"But I know that just these battles aren't enough for it. I wont stop here, I cant let you win this battle."

She would have taken a moment to appreciate Katherine's horrific yet awe-inspiring fusion with the Pokémon if it wasn't for the fact that they were their opponents. "Like what?" she asks wondering what Katherine had hoped to hear. [break][break]

The poison on the floor began to bubble and sizzle as if it grew more potent in effect after the ultra burst. "What the hell?! Cobalion watch out for those splotches of poison they seem more potent now!" she warns him as he nods silently. "We don't need some fusion to show how we're a good match right?! Go!" she shouts as Melody and cobalion are suddenly blinded by the dazzling gleam. [break][break]

But she had an answer to it "Presto! Wait for the right moment!" she ordered as Cobalion shut his eyes and took the dazzling gleam head on, once the move ended Cobalion used SMART STRIKE as it granted such blinding speed and precision to ensure the move wouldn't miss.

The Ultra Beast's speed may have decreased thanks to the PARALYSIS inflicted upon it, but such fate is ever fleeting at the face of an ULTRA BURST. The status is cured, and to add insult to injury, Nihilego's SPECIAL ATTACK increases thanks to the fused pair's BATTLE BOND.

Katherine's expression within Nihilego sours momentarily before another wordless command is shared, prompting the beast to unleash a second SLUDGE WAVE.

This time, it aims to strike Cobalion or force it to evade—leading him towards one of the many spots already tainted by the neurotoxin.

Shit! Another sludge wave! [break][break]

"Cobalion! Aria!" she orders as the Cobalion suddenly unleashes liquid metal from it's hooves and rushed forward to block the SLUDGE WAVE. The SPIKEY SHIELD doesn't damage the Nihilego thanks to the fact it was a ranged attack. [break][break]

They land away from one of the splotches of poison but if time continued to run down, katherine was going to win. The field would only become dirtier and dirtier with poison. The acid already hissed against the floor loudly as if attempting to lure them both to take a sip of the deep purple nectar. [break][break]

However they mustn't. [break][break]

"Forte" she orders as Cobalion uses STONE EDGE and rips up the floor with it's attack. Specifically the areas that have poison over them and fling them back over towards Katherine and her Nihilego in an attempt to tidy up some of the poison on the battle arena.

The rising mirror tiles present an opportunity neither Katherine nor Nihilego are willing to pass on. With Cobalion and Melody taking the offensive, the duo take aim and leave themselves vulnerable to finally land their coveted SLUDGE WAVE, should things go according to plan.

The STONE EDGE itself merely bounces off the Ultra Beast's skin, the toxin doing little to affect it as its immunity prevails.

Nihilego and Katherine's eyes glow with an ominous shade of purple before similar energy surrounds Cobalion, seeking to inflict a HEX upon it. They threaten to take advantage of the Legendary's poisoned status, assuming the initial attack landed, and double the move's natural damage in the process.

The SLUDGE WAVE connects, and soon it's followed up with a HEX [break][break]

The Legendary Pokémon moves back, giving some space between it and it's opponent. The poison doesn't actually cause as much pain as it initially thought at first. But both he and Melody knew that if this battle continued this way, they'd both be doomed. [break][break]

It lunges forward, not even needing Melody to instruct it how to fight now as the two were in total sync with one another. JUSTIFIED combines with SACRED SWORD as it attempt to bring it's sword down on top of the head of the creature to slam it into the floor.

A second HEX brews under Nihilego's command, an incantation comes to life. As the Ultra Beast twirls in the air, the THUNDER WAVE strikes and the PARALYSIS renders it incapable of fulfilling its witchery.

If Katherine wasn't trapped within a bubble, she'd have probably complained about it.

Nevertheless, Cobalion's lunge is enough to dissuade the elite four from being distracted. Its SACRED SWORD is met with a familiar SPIKY SHIELD, although theirs does reflect a portion of the damage back.

The spikey shield reflects a portion of the damage she would have dealt to the duo and the toxin takes that pain and magnifies it even more.

The pokemon flinches as he tries to steady himself "Cobalion! Please hurry again! She cant do it again so soon, that's our chance!" she calls out as a small bit of panic builds in her voice. But she had to remain calm and collected, what kind of disgrace would she be if the Idol fell to the witch's hex and curses? [break][break]

How could she win? If the battle continued to stall out like this...Cobalion lunges forward again, his feet pushing against the floor into the air again as he attempts to bring down ANOTHER SACRED SWORD down onto the Ultra beast's head to slam the pokemon into the floor.

As Cobalion approaches to reengage with the Nihilego, Katherine merely narrows her eyes within the protective bubble of her partner. The jellyfish does not move, blindly anticipating the incoming steel-type and its repeated SACRED SWORD. Its aggression bleeds through Melody's commands, revealing the duo's plan. Its willingness to attack leaves it open, which only means one thing.

A command echoes within the Ultra Beast's mind, and it is brought to heel, forced to act.

The arena grows silent, and then dark, as the light seemingly evaporates and shadows manifest to haunt the Malevolent's hall of mirrors. From within the same engulfing darkness, inky hands materialize as the Z-MOVE ENERGY flows both through Katherine and her Nihilego.

A NEVER-ENDING NIGHTMARE is brought to life, cursing and condemning the Cobalion then and there.

The SACRED SWORD then connects, but ultimately, it only does so much. The Nihilego endures it, undeniably preparing for its next HEX.
