Cobalion's expression breaks for a moment, it grimmaces and his body falters slightly.[break][break]

Yet it stands just barely. He refused to give up he was pushing himself to his furthest limits, yet he didn't entirely understand why he was doing it at this moment. He hated meaningless battles, he hated people, yet he worked with Melody and helped her with this goal. [break][break]

Was it because he wanted to make her happy? [break][break]

He'd continue to push forward until she forced him to stop, he stole a glance at her and she was on the verge of tears. One last move, one last decision she had to make. She had to push him to his limits, she had to win. "Cobalion!" she shouts as the air slash clash against the spikey shield. [break][break]

However after the move ends, cobalion lunges forward towards the Nihilego again, unleashing a SMART STRIKE against the ultra beast.

Seeing the Cobalion lunge at Nihilego confirms Katherine's suspicion; their opponent only awaited a chance to get close. It may be easy to predict what comes next-- but unless Melody and her partner were willing to forgo their SMART STRIKE, Nihilego would cast its HEX, intending to exchange blows with the Cobalion once more.

Cobalion and Melody both tunnel vision too hard. Katherine's sudden statement made them both lose focus entirely, leaving Cobalion wide open for a hex attack. [break][break]

A proverbial nail in the coffin. [break][break]

The spiritual force slams into cobalion with twice the damage it normally would have done. He staggers backwards, attempting to regain his balance and stand stalwart like he was meant to. However as Melody shouts her next order, Cobalion doesn't move. He had fainted standing up, until the bitter end. Melody[break][break]

She walked over to him placing a hand on him, almost afraid to touch him as if he'd wake up and continue to try and fight. She brings out his pokeball, the one he always refused to get into and she recalls him. "You win." she frowns. [break][break]

She continues to clench her fist. This defeat had stung, if Katherine hadn't said that Melody may have been able to actually react and tell Cobalion. But she knew either way she would have still lost, that toxin was something she didn't plan for. [break][break]

"I will see you...around I guess." she states as she walks off immediately to go and heal up her pokemon. She HATED that cursed creature.
