Route 113 - Fighting / Steel

Leonardo hates traversing this part of Hoenn. The ash rises so high up in the troposphere that it's impossible to fly by without ending up baked in gray and with the distasteful flavor of ash in his mouth.

Metagross, his usual companion, is resting inside his Pokéball today. Where they are now is nowhere as hot as Mt. Chimney itself, but to rush through around here his Rapidash was a much better choice.

He taps gently on the side of his Rapidash's neck, prompting her to hurry. Out of Route 113 as soon as possible is where he wants to be.

Route 113 - Fighting / Steel

The characteristic sound of gears locking into place warns them of the wild Pokémon before they see it. Rapidash slows down so that she can veer left.

The Klinklang follows.

Leonardo has to turn at the sight, wondering why a Steel type could possibly want to follow the trail of a Fire type. One of the gears has what looks like a pair of eyes, but that doesn't tell him much.

The question hangs in the air for another second or two. They outrun the wild Pokémon and his interest is lost.

He has places to be and much more important questions to answer ahead.

Route 113 - Fighting / Steel

A Low Kick takes on the job of a race track obstacle. Rapidash reacts just in time with a jump, no doubt thanks to its training at the stable where Leonardo got her from.

Leonardo wheezes. Safe.

The purple fighter isn't finished. It aims a Karate Chop that hits Rapidash on one of its hind legs. Angry, the fire horse retaliates with a Double Kick. It sends the Machoke back, staggering.

Rapidash doesn't wait for it to recover. She kicks off again, slow at first as it turns to face the Machoke and strike with one parting Megahorn attack.

Whatever happened to the Pokémon afterwards, Leonardo wouldn't know. A trail of dust served as curtain for their retreat.

Route 113 - Fighting / Steel

It looks like a knight taken straight out of a book of fables. From an ancient novel like Don Quixote, maybe. Or maybe like a horse trained for jousting.

The Escavalier charges towards him and his Rapidash with Twineedles. The attack barely misses and that's only because Rapidash masterfully evades with the grace of a racing steed.

Rapidash circles around the Escavalier, but this time she's not as nice as she had been with their previous two encounters. She's tired of all these annoying, overly aggressive Pokémon.

Fire sizzles on parched grass as Rapidash's hooves grow hot. Hotter. Her trot turns into a Fire Spin that would trap the Escavalier and probably burn it alive in the process.

Luckily metal doesn't smell when it burns, not like skin and flesh does.

Leonardo looks up, unaffected by his Pokémon's decision. He can distinguish a few tall rooftops in the distance. They're close to the city.
