The league had informed Melody that they had been informed of a potential black market deal with rocket occurring in slateport city and that an underboss in Rocket would be appearing to oversee the operations as they had plans to move quickly in order to avoid the league's detection. [break][break]

The league decided to dispatch Melody and Kyle together, the remaining member of the sword of justice off on another mission at the moment. But that'd be fine! Melody and Kyle fought together before during the hoenn star tournament and they ended up winning the battle. Melody and kyle were waiting inside of a white van as they were with a police force who was listening and observing the deal from a distance. [break][break]

Melody was swinging around slowly in the chair, waiting for them to give the signal to go. "I haven't busted up a black market deal before, have you?" she asked Kyle as she heard that he used to be in the slateport PD, maybe that's why they were working alongside the two of them at the moment. "What was being a cop like?" she asked, waiting for the Police to give them the all clear to go in.

"a lot of times," he answers melody. "i'm originally from the slateport pd. of course we get cases for piracy, smuggling and a lot of other stuff on the daily."

prompted with a life question, he perks up.

"i like the uniform. it looks good with the dog trainer aesthetic, don't you think?"

he didn't really care for the job description as long as it paid the bills and gave him funds to keep his hobby going. it's the best he can do that fits the most criteria he looked for in a career after all.

"Oh! Oh! is that him!" she said pushing the officer to the side slightly from the computer camera watching as it seemed like they conveniently spotted the one they were looking for. [break][break]

"What the fuck was his name? Bheo?" she said looking back to kyle. "nO, WAIT THEO, do we go in?" she says looking over to the police officer who gave her the thumbs up. [break][break]

She leaves the van and grabs a speaker phone as she cleared her throat. "THEO BECKKET. Come out with your hands up and your pokemon put away. You're under arrest!" she orders as she sends out two pokemon by her side, did she even have the authority to arrest someone? She'd have to double check but regardless the sentiment was the same. Her Primarina slides to her side with her joltik on top of it's head mimicking melody using the megaphone with his little hands.

"oh, i know him." the name melody uttered was remembered fondly after all. "he had a nice little fish shop. we bonded over a bruxish that looked like you."

his memories of Melody Miro fish forme gets brought up from his core memories.

regardless, he comes out of the van with melody, following her as she makes her arrest. it's weird seeing a former civilian do this, but he supposed she technically has the power to do it now the moment she worked with the government.

after melody shouts, he takes the speaker from her.

"dude, long time no see! how's the fishies?" he shouts over the speaker phone.

this is a different vibe than what he's used to but it's one he accepts. the lightness of it is jarring to the grunts, however, as they muble over themselves while continuing to unload the shipment.[break][break]

She stares at the man who greeted him so warmly...were...were they working together? No way, there was no way. "Kyle...isn't that the guy we're supposed to ya know...arrest..?" she whispers in his ear as she was obviously confused by this.[break][break]

he opens his mouth to reply back before melody speaks out her concerns.

"well, i hope so," he tells her. "it's kind of a pain to fight, you know."

he takes up the megaphone to respond back to theo.

"they're great! oh, and i got a glowing pup from the hatchery! it's kind of cool!"

kyle turns to melody, letting go of the speaker. "if this turns to a fight, you're taking front, alright?" then he goes back to talking to theo.

"oh, and what you're doing is illegal by the way. we're going to arrest you, so can you kindly surrender. please, and thank you!"

he didn't realize he was a smuggler though, but he supposed it made sense when he has a fish store with literally no fish for sale and everything was just on display.

was this part of negotiations, or just friendly banter? kyle cannot tell anymore, but work is work. they'll need to do something eventually.

"she's in charge, by the way!" he shouts, shifting the blame on melody so the strain on their relationship isn't credited to him. "so, ya, my hands are tied, man!"

a mightyena comes out of the cop car. it gets all dark aura-y before it barks at the group of people behind theo.

"hotel used embargo now! that means you can't handle items anymore!"

it was how it works. theo's men can no longer use items since they have been embargo'd, and that includes the things they are smuggling, whatever they are.

She frowns, now she remembered why he seemed so familiar. [break][break]

"I knew you were familiar." she said as begins to recall where she had met him before. "I've been wanting a chicken sandwhich actually. You have any?" she says before turning to kyle. [break][break]

"How are Madeleine and glitch? Oh Emma too! Gotta thank her for snapping my neck and drowning me. Was hoping you guys did something to them." she says as Melody decides now was the time to act. "Joltik! Primarina! Adagio!" she orders as there was no way in hell now she was letting him get away. [break][break]

Primarina slides forward with a flourish as she unleashed an icy breath of fishy wind onto theo and Joltik leapt from her hair and weaved an electric webbing, looking to paralyze the man in a net.

he didn't expect embargo to be useless. someone told him it should have been the most powerful move, but apparently he was lied to. is this what melody felt? he suddenly feels for her so he sides with her for now.

"a chicken sandwich? that's way too many calories!" he gasps, as if in disbelief. "i have to agree with her, theo. you should've given her a healthy piece of slowpoke tail instead."

if he's into smuggling, then he definitely should've had tasted one of those before.

he looks at his mightyena after melody had her pokemon do stuff. recognizing a line from a video game he played a lot, he orders his mightyena a similarly weirdly worded command.

"brioso! brioso!" his pokemon looks at him weird. "that means something about music, so just sing, i guess."

it was fine to fuck around since melody was taking the front anyways. although he was lagging in commands, his mightyena still roars the lurantis away with the only sound-based move it knows.
