Too much time in front of computer would have anyone ready for a trek, now that he thought about.

"As a matter of fact, I did." He said with a nod, though the thought of surfing made his stomach do flip flops. He sighed. "Though... No matter how hard I tried, I never could pull off the Magikarp splash."

Maybe he just was too heavy all around for the simple, yet elegant acrobatics needed...

"I did get to enjoy myself with diving and..." The man's lip turned a smirk. "The dunk tank."

The man had missed once and no more.

"Every single false monarch, dethroned." He said with a chuckle. "Pity I never did last long enough to be crowned myself."

She nodded in acknowledgment. It was true, that even before joining the council, she found herself preferring to spend her leisure time among the wildlife of Hoenn.

And then their conversation moved on. Splashfest claims the title of the main topic. “Yeah, I found the Magikarp Splash to be a rather hard trick to perform. But I managed it somehow.“

“That is unfortunate, I did last long enough a few times.” She looked thoughtful for a moment as she tried to remember if Gwyar had been one of those who usurped the throne from her. Alas, she could not remember.

Their conversation was interrupted by a Dewott that stumbled upon them. It looked mildly annoyed towards Elinor.

It pointed towards her as it held the two Shells aloft like blades. It then charged at her, no warning, no reasons given. Only ceaseless anger.

Why? Elinor wondered. For she felt no fear. Since she trusted Bagon to protect her. Draconic energies formed elegant claws upon the Bagon as it charged forward. The two Pokémon clashed for a brief moment. However, where Dewott was content fighting with its Shellman-ship, Bagon did not fear the use of underhanded tactics. And so, its head shone for a brief moment, before it crashed into water-type as a ZEN HEADBUTT.

The Dewott was knocked out.

Elinor sighed for a brief moment. Was this going to be yet another time where wild Pokémon after wild Pokémon would attack her for no reason? Still, she would throw the empty Pokéball all the same, hopefully capturing the Dewott in the process.

"My luck has never been too great." The man said airily, more a factual statement than a lament. "But it doesn't matter whether we won or loss in the end; fun was had in spades."

Though he still wanted to land the Magikarp Splash...

A Dewott interrupted the conversation, and for a moment, Gwyar's attention completely affixed itself to the little swordsman, the man slowly pulling out a notepad and pen.

The battle was brief, but Gwyar was able to get his notes in all the same, writing things down in small, manageable bullet points that would help him with recall at a later date.

Before long, the Dewott was K.O'd and captured by the councilwoman, and the man simply pocketed back his notepad.

"That-" He began to speak, before pausing as a Marill wandered out of the bushes. It froze as it noticed them all, before immediately turning around and running away. "... As I was saying, that was an interesting display. Quite strong, your Bagon."

He spoke the truth. As long as fun was had that was all that mattered. But before she could speak further, their conversation was disturbed by a Dewott.

A short battle later. The Dewott had been caught, and the Pokéball retrieved.

Bagon looked proud of itself. And honestly, Elinor looked proud of it as well. Her eyes almost sparkled with happiness as Gwyar spoke kindly of her Pokémon’s strength.

“Yeah, I think so too. I am not surprised though, she takes after her father. But, I can’t wait to see how strong she will be once she evolves. If she wants to evolve, of course.” Elinor commented. The happy memories of her time with Gon the Salamence quickly flew through her mind for a short moment. Luckily the sting of sadness that followed did not show on her face.

The Bagon looked surprised at her trainer. She had not expected the kind words. Unaware of how to act because of it, the Bagon simply turned her attention to the ground.

"And here I thought all Bagon desired to fly one day." The man said with a quirked lip, tilting his head slightly at the bashful Bagon as he quoted a little well known 'story' regarding the species as a whole.

A moment later however, his gaze sharpened and his sword was pulled out of its sheath. A moment later, something zoomed by the two humans so swiftly it proved invisible to their naked eyes, the only sign of it ever being there the buzz it left in its wake.

"... The blazes?" The man pondered briefly, looking over his shoulder a moment too late. Whatever it had been, it was already gone. "Was that a...?"

The Bagon raised its head, glaring toward Gwyar. How dared he! Of course, she wanted to fly. She would fly faster and higher than anyone!

But before the Bagon could start growling and complaining Elinor would interject. “I am sure she does, but only when she is ready for it.” And if that meant working through the loss of a parent and the grief therefrom, then Elinor would wait patiently.

“I have no idea…” Elinor replied.

“No idea…”
“No idea…”
“No idea…”
“No idea…”

Her words were repeated with eerie accuracy. She turned to the origin of the sound. A Chatot perched upon a branch nearby. It mimicked her words a few more times, before it flapped its wings, rising itself into the air and gliding down upon her shoulder.

“No idea…” It pointed towards Elinor.

“Idea…” It pointed towards itself.

“You want to come with me?” Elinor asked confusion in her voice.

It nodded.

“All right then.” Elinor gave it a nod. She figured thinking about it might just bring about a headache. Perhaps the simple answer was just that the Chatot liked her voice. Yes, surely that would do for an answer.

Gwyar watched with a measure of amusement as yet another pokemon quite literally walked up to the councilwoman and requested— nay, demanded it be allowed into her team.

"My, you sure are popular, councilwoman Anderson." He said, his merriment dripping from his lips. "Well, you did win your election by a landslide."

He only wished whatever powers of attraction she held would call to more... threatening pokemon. The lack of action so far was beginning to cool him off.

“I suppose I am,” Elinor replied, though he was right about the election whether that was due to being popular or there being no better options was something she’d rather not comment on.

She noticed the merriment in his voice and decided to play along. “Though, I’d be lying if I claimed to dislike it.” She spoke in jest. And as she did the Chattot turned to her and began to gently groom her hair, perhaps trying to earn some affection with her.

The Bagon noticed this and got a bit prissy. It began to growl and complain.

Elinor chuckled at the display. She gently kneeled down and picked up the little dragon, cradling it in her arms for better or worse. Perhaps she coddled it too much?

Either way, she definitely didn’t notice any wild Pokémon near her this time, as she stood back up. All she could feel was Chattot beak trying to gently work with her pink strands.
