Mauville city was probably Penelope lease favorite city in Hoenn. Hidden within a bubble of commercialism, it was a clear representation of the future of the upper class, as well as what'd be waiting for those who get left behind. It was why she avoided most trips to the city. Today, of course, was an exception.

Within the quiet hours of the night, a tip was sent to the local PD notifying them of a possible smuggling deal. According to the tip, it was for tonight, within the city's once popular kalosian restaurant. All they had to do was sneak in and confirm the deal before busting the culprits involved. An easy task for an elite four member and her novice partner.

Sitting outside one of the nearby late-night cafes, the councilwoman took the last sip of her now watery latte. "It should be starting now. Ready to head out?"

The Aegislash that lingers in Katherine's shadow is unlike any of its kind. Penelope would be able to discern that easily should her eyes lock with the singular, red eye of the blade.

Although it's true that most ghost-type Pokemon were strange and, in some cases, even eerie and ominous... The transformation into a shadow pokemon pushed that to the extreme for Katherine's Aegislash, Caliburn. It is a paragon of corruption and foul, unnatural power.

"And let you have all the fun? Never." The councilwoman shooed away the idea with a chuckle and hand wave. Frankly, she would've loved nothing more than to let the elite four-member handle this particularly intensive mission, but like she spoke to MATIAS SILPH about, it was better to lead from the frontlines than stay hidden away in League HQ.

With that settled, she pulled the rubber band from the end of her braid, releasing her wavey red locks down her shoulders and back before topping it with a black baseball cap. Her baggy graphic tee, fake black rimmed glasses and straight legged jean pants added to her mini 'disguise'. The finishing touch was the black face mask she wore around her ears but kept pulled down to her chin --- a way to hide her face shape but remain casual about it.

When Katherine looked to be ready, she'd pull out a Five, place it underneath her knife, then make way toward the abandoned building. It was a short walk, no more than five minutes away, allowing for the duo to reach there with relative ease. Along the way, small talk took flight.

"So, I'm curious. What does the tenure Elite four member think of our current situation?" Whether it be Rocket, the meteor, what they witnessed on mirage island -- she'd let her take her picking on how to answer.

Well, that was one way to put it. Katherine mostly thought of it as yet another way to taunt Rocket - and by default - her former friends. But then again, she could still do that with Penelope by her side. She'll just have to be a bit less upfront about it.

She knows that the councilwoman is not speaking of their current entanglement with Team Rocket, yet Katherine still opts to feign ignorance. It's more fun that way.

"It's nothing too unusual, really. I'd be worried if Team Rocket stopped trying to smuggle Pokemon, if anything."

Although they are still a fair amount of distance away from the abandoned building, the elite four manages to spot several silhouettes from afar, all posted around the aforementioned building. The sight of them, however, fails to deter her.

Penelope swallowed down a laugh. What a response. Alas, she couldn't expect the woman to immediately go out spilling her guts on the league's matters, especially with their current track record. It honestly made her feel better that she didn't. Though, there's also a possibility she just found it funny.

Keeping her eyes set straight forward, the woman subconsciously kept an inch closer to her partner, as sparks of unease ticked up her arms. Those were definitely rockets. Long, dark shadows hiding away in the corners of their vision? It fitted their profile to a Tee.

"I wouldn't doubt it," She muttered, hushed enough to avoid the men's suspicious glances and unwavering ominous presence. "It should be fine, though. It's supposed to be a pretty big trade -- multiple people from around the region are coming. " They'd just have to slip in and blend into the crowd. Glancing back at Katherine, the woman silently prays she'd be able to take lead into the building. She was a little too occupied with getting used to engaging with multi-region identified terrorists.

Katherine appears to have forgotten to bring a face mask to conceal her identity. Not to mention, she is also infamous in Rocket and famous outside of it, which is bound to prove bothersome while attempting to blend in a crowd of likely-already-paranoid terrorists.

She does, however, have the luxury of reaching into a hand-sized portal to retrieve a proper mask from beyond their earthly realm. She dons it quickly, and only then does she continue, now ready to lead the two of them into the building.

Katherine's tone is laced with a sweet toxin, drawled out in a way that is nothing short of the antithesis of her being. It lacks its signature dryness, its famed sarcasm and brutal honesty.

Deep in her heart, she thanks Giratina for the mask. She'd have had to smile at them if it wasn't for it. Could you imagine that?

From Katherine's right, Penelope leaned toward the men, whispering the simple code she'd been instructed to give. With that, the men both glanced back at one another, then at Katherine, Penelope, then back at one another.

A handful of painstakingly long seconds hung between them until they finally relented. Their approval was marked by a simple head nod. After, they inched out of the way, allowing just enough room for both of the women to enter.

Ginger hands reached out for the door, pulling it just wide enough for Katherine to slip through, then herself. Inside, everything was coated in a thick blanket of darkness. All except the closest corner to their right. Lit by candle light, the corner looked to have been the entrance to a set of stairs descending downward into the building's basement. The same basement where the sea of muffled voices sounded out from.

Penelope glanced back at Katherine before continuing forward.

There's a subtle adjustment of Katherine's mask as Penelope, and her take the stairs down to the basement. Although she doesn't have a mirror to check herself out with, she can feel that the mask isn't sitting right.

Her time in Rocket included wearing many masks- this very one included. She easily recognizes when one isn't worn well, for experience breeds skill.

"Tell me, are all the rumours true? Do you guys really have some of those rare distortion Pokemon for sale?"

"Of course," Penelope scoffed, faking a lightly offended glint in her eyes. "There's nothing but the best here."

Pulling a strain of hair behind her ear, the councilwoman carefully led the two down the creaking staircase and into a dimly lit room below the abandoned cafe. Several men populated the ground floor, most in suits with some in more casual wear, and there were several sets of cages set toward the furthest wall of the room.

Penelope lightly tapped at Katherine Fairburne's arm before glancing toward the cages.

"I wonder if we'll be allowed to take a sneak peek of the product haha."

Katherine's gaze flits inside the room from one man to another, counting each of them without skipping a beat until her eyes meet the obscured cages. There's a brief blink of those same scarlet eyes when the elite four notices the cloth draping over each cage, hiding the identities of the supposed exotic pokemon.

Lips purse in short-lived frustration before brows knit slightly.
[break][break]
"Mm. I think we might just have to wait-"

A subtle gesture of the malevolent's hand calls upon distorted energy to emerge. She conjures a projection of her realm within this very room, taking advantage of the shadow-plagued room to mask this effect. Without a warning, GRAVITY's very own axis
momentarily turns and shifts. It pulls them all aside, as though the very earth trembled-- which is enough to reveal each Pokemon.

Hisuian Zoroark, Hisuian Growlithe, and Hisuian Braviary - all partly sedated to the point they barely react to the strange phenomenon - are revealed in full.

"That-" her voice trembles and breaks. Almost. "W-What was that?! Was it one of them?" She clearly points towards the Hisuian Pokemon. Katherine's features remain flat and emotionless, for the mask still covers her face. "That was... That was epic. They are strong. I want that one!"

She points towards the Hisuian Braviary before reaching for PENELOPE LIVY's hand, intent on dragging her along towards one of the men in suits.

"Go on, spit it out already. How much for it?"

Penelope's expression of surprise and flickering fear is genuine as she glanced back at her other counterpart.

Beyond brief images and stories of the current AQUA member's powers, this was her first time genuinely seeing one at work. And, even in this small sandbox, it was enough to take her breath away.

"H-hm? Oh yeah," She breathed, "Like I said -- they only have the best of the best here."

It took another second for the councilwoman's face to shift back to it's placid expression, but just as it did, Katherine was already in gear, dragging them straight toward one of many businessmen dotted across the dimly lit room. While he was maintaining his confusion better than Penelope had, it was clear the tremble had left him and his coworkers scrambling a bit, as they had now both ensure their clientele everything was alright, while sniffing out the culprit, if there was one at all.

"Ah, you've taken a taken a liking to one of them already," The man smiled, teeth bright and perfectly white, like the covered of a dentistry. "Today's collection is quite pricey though. Are you sure you'll be able to afford one, Little Lady?"

"Alright, if you say so. I'm docking it off your pay if you're wrong, though," Katherine threatens Penny loud enough for the rest to hear. The wicked smirk painted upon her mask makes even stern words sound slightly less intimidating. One could argue that it adds an erratic, unstable undertone to them-- but that's only a part of her act. Probably.

"Little lady? Do you even know who you're talking to?" Oh, right. The mask. That means he doesn't. "Of course I can afford it." She snaps her fingers close to the councilwoman's ear, drawing her attention. "The suitcase, please."

Katherine waits for a moment or two, half-relying on Penny's confusion. Then, she looks around for the supposed 'suitcase'.

"My god," if she could, she'd roll her eyes. Instead, she shakes her head and turns around, seemingly to continue searching for the suitcase. "You totally dropped it, didn't you?"

Like a magician would reach for a coin behind a person's ear, she reaches with her hand behind Penny. With a swift gesture, she manages to retrieve a suitcase from within a miniature portal into her realm, allowing both the shadows and Penny's body to hide the nature of her magic trick.

It's heavy. There's certainly something in it.

'She's pretty clumsy, isn't she? Are you sure it's a new Pokemon that you should be looking for?'

"Mm. I could probably use both. Why, are you looking for a new job?" The suitcase is raised and moved to rest upon her palm. She doesn't open it yet, however.
