he checks his phone for the time. early and still with enough time to wander about, he disregards the previous thought and just decides to seek the entrance instead of lingering around without a purpose in his head. he wasn't going to waste time when he can use it for recreation instead.

he sees a donphan as he wanders out. the two of them hold a brief eye contact that lasted a moment, before the wild pokemon decides to ignore kyle altogether and go about his way. it was nice that it didn't confront him like most wild pokemon, although he somewhat felt offended that the donphan did not see him as a potential threat.

he continues about his business. he wasn't sure if he was lost, but he still vaguely remembers the way he came in. he hopes that it wasn't the wrong cave mapping that he remembers in his head.

the weavile was there, but it hardly makes any sound that gets kyle's attention off of the road. both held no interests in each other, and comes to a mutual agreement on not bothering each other as they walk past.

besides, kyle had much more pressing matters at hand.

he tries to lead himself away from the coldness brought by the depths of the shoal cave. he wasn't sure how such place dropped to low temperatures when hoenn itself was temperate. still, such musing was best left for another time.

a large beast blocks the exit to the caves. it would have normally been a problem since the pokemon was a beartic, but kyle knows of a quick and easy way of dealing with large pokemon without having to go to a drawn-out battle with it.

he releases his mightyena at it. the canine immediately forces out a hyper beam towards the ice-type at kyle's command. the quick draw manages to catch the beartic off guard as it was unable to defend itself from a range attack, nor position himself in a way that it would be able to counter immediately.

it did not fall from the attack however. kyle expected that from a hyper beam that was rushed. the beartic staggers, but manages to get back on its knees. it was weakened, but still had the fight nonetheless.

before it could do anything further though, a pokeball is thrown, effectively giving it a timeout. kyle walks past it as it was momentarily stuck in the capsule. the mightyena goes with his trainer, although he stops just before the ball disappears from their view, ready to retrieve it if it does stop moving.
