At her grown age of almost 30 years old, Penelope hadn't thought to participate in trick or treating in YEARS. But, this time around, her pink little ampharos shared a spark of interest in joining in, and what kind of trainer would she be to deny such an adorable request?

"I'm going, I'm going," she sighed from his bedroom, still wedged behind his mirror. The platinum blond bob wig she'd ordered was a bit itcher than she expected. Penelope did all she could to fix it, but alas, there was only so much she could do here.

"Whatever, it is and it is."

Frowning, she decidedly picked up her little tote and walked back out to the living room, her ampharos close behind.
[Break][break]
Her electric type, who was uncharacteristically brimming with excitement, was wearing a thick white sheet over his head with two black slits cut out for his eyes. Penelope, on the other hand, came out in the same costume the couple had picked out two weeks prior. Black Cat.

"C'mon, Spidey, let's go then."

when the door finally swings open, cian turns and looks only to be caught off guard. not sure why he is when they shopped for their outfits together, but still.[break][break]

he steps closer.[break][break]

kinda inappropriate with her ampharos and his kecleon right there but he could not help himself.[break][break]

he smiles, already feeling more than comfortable in his spidey suit as well. no mask, though. cian be looking like spiderman from the amazing spiderman.[break][break]

his kecleon's in a spidey suit as well though with how often it fades in and out of the scene, it's hard to tell. spooky stuff, really.[break][break]

he offers her his hand.[break][break]

Frankly, as the one who suggested the costume idea, she had to say: there were no regrets to be had. Even if the skin-tight suit was a bit itchy here and there.

Penelope took a step closer toward Cian, bridging the small gap between them til there was nothing left. Reaching up toward his hair, her gloved hand gave his blonde locks a soft comb through, fixing the small imperfections and bringing the loose strains away from his eyes.

She smiled.

"Who knew you'd look this good in red?"
[break][break]
His hand would soon find her own as her gaze shifted back toward the door, where both their Pokémon stood, practically begging to head out already.

"Let's go, then."
[break][break]
A soft tug later and they were out the door and toward the streets of Rustboro City. Many other groups dotted the streets beside them. None as cute as they were, of course.

"You know, I've never actually gone trick or treating before."

uh, cian always knew he'd look good in red, but he decides to let it pass as he's tugged out the door and into the busy streets of rustboro.[break][break]

he looks around briefly to admire the other outfits. some of them have put serious effort in while others have opted for simplicity. laziness? either one.[break][break]

her revelation makes him smile.[break][break]

"well, i'm glad to be your first."[break][break]

his shoulder bumps into hers as they approach a block of houses.[break][break]

"you know how it's done, right? you go up to a door, knock, and hope they don't shoo you away."

"I've watched enough Halloween specials to get the gist of it,."

Either way, it'd be Remy doing most of the trick-or-treating, not her. She was more of a glorified candy holder. But it was still cute to play into the idea that she was the one trick or treating for the first time, not just their Pokémon.

"So which of these are the type to give out full-size bars? Or would that be in another neighborhood?"
[break][break]
If she remembered correctly, the kids from those specials would typically talk about that; how some of the richer neighborhoods give out bigger pieces of candy than others. As someone both new to this and the area, it'd have to be Cian figuring that kinda shit out, though. All she could do was follow along.

"well, i live in the nicer parts of rustboro, so i think most of these houses should give out full-sized bars."[break][break]

he hopes, at least. otherwise he'd just call them cheap and run off to the next house.[break][break]

the first house has an odd flower in the garden that looks to be similar to the crystablooms that had sprouted many months ago.[break][break]

before he even has a chance to reach the porch, his kecleon appears in its spiderman outfit and rings the doorbell.[break][break]

"well, shit."

"Eager guy, huh," she laughed, following close behind the little spiderman. Remy was beside her, both unable and unwilling to move faster than he already was. It was a sheep thing.

Fingers still laced with Cian's, the woman walked up to the door just as it opened and greeted the older woman behind it was a smile.
[Break][break]
Both Pokemon sang their version of "trick or treat" and lifted up their bags, wide open, prepared for the large chocolate bars they'd been told about.

After several seconds of praising their cuteness, the woman reached back toward the side of her door and pulled out two full sized Hershey chocolate bars.
[Break][break]
Only once the deed was done would they spin back around and move onto the next house.
[Break][break]
"So," she started, "this is cute."

when the door opens, kecleon is immediately bouncing up and down in excitement, grubby arms reaching up to try and grab some candy only to be offered some by the nice old woman.[break][break]

the sight makes cian laugh, and when his kecleon finally turns away with a bucket half-full of candy, he adds:[break][break]

"thank you!"[break][break]

"oh, anything for my favorite gym leader! come back any time, dear!"[break][break]

he might be more popular than he realizes.[break][break]

onto the next house![break][break]

"it really is."[break][break]

his shoulder bumps into hers as they walk.[break][break]

"thanks for doing this with me."

Alongside the Kecleaon, Penelope's Ampharos waddled up the steps, tote in hand, ready for his portion of the goods. When the old lady opened the door, the lamb opens up the bag, accepting everything with a happy bleep.

Penelope's added gratitude harmonized with Cian's, with the only difference being the small wave she offered at the end of it.

Onto the next house!

"Of course, babe! You don't even have to mention it."
[break][break]
Honestly, when he first asked her, Penelope was more than excited to go. What was better than spending an afternoon with her boyfriend, dressed up in costumes, celebrating the one holiday her parent always forbade her from enjoying?

"I love doing shit like this with you."

is it actually fun or is it because they make it fun? he likes to think it's a combination of both but more so the latter. together, they can do anything, as cheesy as that sounds.[break][break]

his kecleon speeds ahead, running naruto-style with its arms extended behind its back.[break][break]

he leans into her, smiling.[break][break]

"i'm very lucky to have found you."

Leaning back into him, she turned toward Cian and gave him a loving peck on the cheek.

All the while their Pokémon continued to rush forward, Kecleon Naruto running and Ampharos bouncing close behind, both eager to reach the next house. When they did, Remy was the first to arrive, which was unfortunate, because the young Pokémon was still unfamiliar with he very basic process of trick-or-treating.

"You have to knock on the door, Remy," His trainer called out from behind. In the time it had taken for the two to fully catch up, the electric type had returned it's sharp gaze to the door, leaned back, then swung head forward, ratting the wooden door with the strength of a solid head butt.

"Mmm... Well, that's one way to do it."
