Giselle Sigebrand was exploring Route 112 once again, and took a moment to rest against a tree trunk and drink some water.

Looking up the road at the trail ahead, she summoned her tiny Sizzlipede, Inferno. She crouched down by the wiggling Pokemon to get closer to his line of sight. "Hey there, shortie, we've got to get you trained up and evolved. Once you're big and strong, you'll be able to take down anyone and anything. Like me."

Sizzlipede squeaked in reply.

Zelle shook her head. "See, no, that battle cry's not going to do anything. You gotta pack some punch behind it." She clenched a fist for effect, then rapped her knuckles gently on the fire Pokemon's head.

"Oh, uh, I don't think you're ready for this yet!" Zelle stammered, scooping up her Sizzlipede, who was raring to go confront his evolutionary rival.

She ran down the mountain until the giant fire Pokemon was out of sight, then wiped her brow and set the Sizzlipede on her shoulder, careful so that he wouldn't burn her hair.

"Let's try something else," she suggested, trekking towards a forested area to see if there were any other opponents for her Sizzlipede.

As the two walked towards the forested area, they saw a Fennekin lapping at a small pond of water, its tail swishing side to side. It appeared unwary of their presence; apparently Zelle and her Sizzlipede were downwind of the wild creature.

"That's more like it!" Zelle said quietly, setting Inferno on the ground to face the Fennekin. "Let's go, use Fire Lash!"

Sizzlipede squeaked, then raced towards the unwitting Fennekin, leaping into the air and slicing a whip of flames at the other Pokemon.

The Fennekin cried out in pain, trying to limp away and favoring one of its paws. Before it could get away, Zelle threw a Pokeball, intending to capture the creature.
