[attr="class","main"]Of all his shadows, Gavin's Miltank sees the least use in battle, but the Rocket underboss still seeks to keep her skills sharp. He trains with her as much as the others and, on occasions such as this trip to the Safari Zone, offers her a chance to flex her skills against wild opponents.[break][break]

The SCRAPPY cow is eager to fight, charging into a patch of grass to startle any hiding Pokémon out into the open.[break][break]

Gavin, meanwhile, finds his gaze fixed to the pre-dawn sky. The first hint of stars can be seen in the greying skies, and the meteor that would soon make its impact one way or another shines among them.[break][break]

He will not let it break his routine. There's a few Pokemon in this selection that Rocket need more of. Gavin continues on as if their salvation was certain: work would stop only if the world did, and not a moment sooner.

Stoic though he often was, Gavin can't help but laugh when a Kecleon bursts from the grass to bop Miltank on the nose with a SUCKER PUNCH. She reels back with a startled grunt, ramming into the chameleon with a HEADBUTT that knocks it flying.[break][break]

Angry eyes find Gavin, who soothes her ire with a swirl of SHADOW MIASMA. She turns her attention back to the stunned Kecleon and charges it with HIGH HORSEPOWER, the ground trembling beneath her weight. Kecleon DETECTS the danger in time to leap clear, but when the Miltank decides to PLAY ROUGH it's not so lucky.[break][break]

Standing over her victim, she looks to Gavin.[break][break]

"Leave it." She was not so aggressive as his others, as he avoided the more brutal battles. "I don't want a fine."[break][break]

Huffing, Miltank trudges back into the grass.

Gavin's sharp gaze snaps to an OUTRAGED Mankey that leaps from the brush.[break][break]

It was on the list.[break][break]

His whistle draws the Miltank's attention. "Careful with this one," he orders, fingers already tightening around an empty capsule.[break][break]

A LOW KICK to the cow's stomach does incredible damage, but she knocks the primate away with a ZEN HEADBUTT and recovers with MILK DRINK. In the end, the inexperienced wild Pokémon stands little chance against a shadowed monster.[break][break]

The pokeball is thrown.

Though he's always been possessed of an interest in Klink's line due to its Steel-typing, Gavin knows them to be plentiful both in his own arsenal and in Rocket's, thanks in part to his sister Lulu Flint's collection.[break][break]

He clicks his tongue.[break][break]

The Klink makes the mistake of taking time to LOCK-ON to the Miltank; by the time it's ready to fire off the attack it had been holding in, Miltank has driven it to the earth with her HIGH HORSEPOWER. There's a terrible sound of twisting metal that makes Gavin scrunch his nose, and the Klink lays still.[break][break]

"It better not be dead."[break][break]

He sighs. Miltank was still a shadow, after all.

Another target shuffles from the grass, sniffling. The Cubchoo looks RATTLED, a little lost, and alarmed when it notes the hulking Miltank turning toward it. There's no time for it to change its mind.[break][break]

Desire for the shadow Pokémon to PLAY NICE falls on deaf ears. Miltank knows only how to PLAY ROUGH, HEADBUTTING the poor bear cub into a nearby tree and knocking it out.[break][break]

It YAWNS; Cubchoo's last retribution before falling prey. The Miltank slumps under the tree next to it for a nap, giving time for Gavin to take a smoke break as the safari ball shudders with its captive.

[attr="class","main"]Sweet SINGING from somewhere within the trees serves to remind Gavin, quite suddenly, of how tired he is. Perhaps it might not be so bad an idea to take a snooze beneath the swaying canopy next to his Miltank. He yawns against the back of his hand, ashes drifting lazily from his cigarette.[break][break]

Then he sees it: a Jigglypuff.[break][break]

"Little bastard," he mumbles, shaking off the drowsiness and plugging his ears to block out the sound. He whistles to rouse his Miltank, who grumbles as she gets unsteadily to her feet.[break][break]

"Shut it up!" Gavin commands, loudly.[break][break]

Jigglypuff's sweet song turns shrill as a HYPER VOICE is fired toward the charging bovine. It doesn't halt the shadow Pokemon, who slams into the poor Jigglypuff and knocks it flying with a HEADBUTT. They grapple in the forest before Miltank emerges victorious, and Gavin at last drops his hands. He'd lost half a cigarette over this nonsense.[break][break]

Scowling, he tosses a ball at the unconscious ball.

"Last one for the day," Gavin mutters to himself as he checks his supply. "And there it is. The Dunsparce."[break][break]

Miltank follows his gesture to lock eyes with the pathetic creature trying to burrow itself into the sand. A GLARE manages to slow the Miltank's charge, but it doesn't stop her from executing a powerful ZEN HEADBUTT.[break][break]

It YAWNS in a desperate attempt to force its foe to sleep, but HIGH HORSEPOWER brings it down. Miltank passes out not long after, and Gavin recalls her after tapping the fallen Dunsparce with his last safari ball.[break][break]

Might have to come in for another trip...[break][break]

For now, though, he was finished.
