Christmas Tree Murder Mystery [M]

when aries had passed the fourth vender trying to sell fruitcake, a part of her had decided then and there that she may become the next villain of an animated christmas movie. and it was a decison she held onto until she made it to fortree on a shopping excursion; with the dome down, she had to send stuff back home to her younger sisters.

but the bustle of fortree was replaced with something more somber, and it hadn't taken long before a woman trying to comfort her sobbing child had pointed aries in the right direction with a simple, rushed explanation of "the tree."

when she gets there, she had to stop to really take it all in- the "body", in the loosest sense, and the tape; it all makes it seem much worse than it is. maybe it was- she doesn't know much about the customs of fortree, after all, and it isn't like she knows just how long the victim had been around. as it is, it takes her a second, a brief one, to notice the girl running around like an investigator.

aries should just go back home. call it a day, decide they have more time to shop, but they find themselves walking over instead, heaving the bag they do have halfway over their shoulder like some off-brand santa. she pauses, just for a moment, before she's calling out.
