The cold winds sting against her cheeks as they venture further, but the very moment the fields of silent ice open up before them, the Unovan just stops and stares. From behind the muffler she's wearing small puffs of breath condense into mist, only to be blown away just as fast. This freezing cold feels all too familiar.

In her mind short fragments filter through of when she was young, of a time she did not often remember, or liked to be reminded of, for various reasons. Yet today, she allowed them to flood her mind. Because she wanted to know what else was conjuring this sense of familiarity. Flashes of her and a young blonde boy playing in the frozen marshes of Iccirus, full of mischief, knowing fully well they weren't supposed to be there. She recalls how fun it had been.

No.

Fun was not what these fields of ice held. The cold was similar to the marshes, but that was not what made it so familiar... she had to dig deeper still. Remember.

Her mind doesn't allow her further digging as a voice snaps her out of her thoughts, and back into reality. She blinks, shakes her head shortly and turns towards Violet Fairbanks , an apologetic smile on her face. "Sorry, I spaced out for a bit there... you were saying?"

That icy dragon Pokemon had certainly done a number on them in general, but she specifically had been irked by just how little she had been able to do against it. She had certainly tried, yet it had once more not been enough, despite everything.

Which was precisely why she had accepted going here specifically with Brynn, someone so much weaker than herself. Always made her feel better about herself, really. With this girl, she could be at least somewhat honest. Probably not the best thing for that one, though. “Anyway. Since you apparently have the leisure and leeway to just space out without a care in the world even in a dangerous place like this, I guess we better start the lesson right away. So go, make yourself useful and find some Pokemon. We do have to catch you some. Or teach you to survive them at least. Best get on with that.”[break][break]
It was rather obvious that she was being irritable today, but that could not be helped. When things did not go smoothly, her mood just took a deep, deep dive. And those too weak to oppose that just had to suffer for it. Such was life.

Brynn was about to retort, but that meant having to explain herself as well. And that was something she couldn't; not when she was still juggling with the how and why that made her thoughts wander. Instead she swallowed her words and nodded slowly. ""Yes, sorry. It's just a bit intimidating, that's all. But I'll focus now." Or attempt to, at least. Violet had taken time out of her schedule to humor her, so she better make it count in case the pale-haired woman was planning on bailing.

Letting out a resolute sigh, Brynnhildr marched off into the white wasteland, away from the frozen victims, in search for more. And 'more' came in the hard, steel package of a small Shieldon burried in the snow. It's head protruding from the snow and being the biggest tripping hazard she'd ever experienced. Her resoluteness faltered as she stumbled on, the Shieldon grumbling as it shook its snowy coat off its back to regard the stupid human that'd stepped on it.

Its glare was apparent, prompting Brynn to apologise almost immediately. Something she was certain Violet would comment on, most-likely not in a good way. Calling her Drilbur, Delta, to the frontlines to combat the Shieldon, rather than learning its moveset instead ordered it to attack. It was a sloppy kerfuffle even 1O year olds did better, but it granted the opening she needed to chuck a pokéball at the Shieldon, entirely unaware of the Vanillish creeping up behind her.

Well, that was kind of pathetic. Vio was not the greatest of trainers herself, but to see a grown woman almost trip over a shieldon and lose to it before the fight even began was something else. She rolled her eyes, arms crossed, but did not actually say anything, at least not at first. It was probably going to be pointless, after all. More of a distraction than helpful, at the very elast, as she watched the combat proceed.

Violet did not comment at all at the other’s choice of Pokemon. She knew that the woman had scant little resources. That could be a suitable counter to her opposition, or just a random selection of the two or three Pokemon she had available. One or the other, really.

Still, it was going decently well. Type advantage did that to a battle, intentional or not. At the same time, though, the woman left herself completely defenseless regarding the Vanillite coming in from behind. Sure, Vio could have helped with that immediately. But, for one, it would be a good lesson on its own. She kept her Eevee ready to engage in case that actually got dangerous, but for the time being…[break][break]
Well, it would not be good training if it started with an easy victory. Still, maybe a word of advice was warranted. “Decent. But you still have to be more attentive and careful to fight a 2v2. Or a 1v2, as it may be.”
