Rosalie had to admit, Caleb was thoroughly shattering her expectations of him tonight. She didn't expect him to be strong enough to stand up to his brother and she didn't expect him to be a good dancer. She also didn't expect him to be as suave as he was being with her. Honestly speaking, Caleb was treating her so tenderly that Rosalie couldn't help but feel a little guilty that she was deceiving him.[break][break]

But what other choice did she have? She couldn't escape this darkness that she was involuntarily thrown into. There was no saving her, she was too far gone. She'd succumbed to this realization a long time ago. As Caleb pulled her closer to him Rosalie found herself being lead effortlessly across the ballroom floor. As they twirled and swayed underneath the glittering lights of the Winter Wonderland transformed Museum she felt Caleb's gaze lower towards her.[break][break]

"You really do look beautiful," he said softly to her which caused a slight flush to color her cheeks but a confident smirk to grace her lips nonetheless. "Oh you are quite the flirt I see." she said with a soft giggle. "Well thank you, you don't look too bad yourself." she said with twinkling eyes. [break][break]

The more she interacted with him the more she felt she needed to repress the feelings of guilt building within her. She was already locked in, she would do whatever was necessary to perform her job well. Even if that meant she'd have to sell this little acting gig like her life depended on it, because it did. [break][break]

Rosalie moved her right hand from the side of his arm to rest gently against his shoulder as she stepped closer to him, still allowing him to lead her around the dance floor. She knew what she was doing. Her smile was soft and distant, as if her mind was somewhere else. "Hard to believe we get to do things like this right?" she whispered to him. [break][break]

It implied that this never would've happened while they were in rocket. Especially in Kanto, they were all pretty much sealed to die there for nothing. It wasn't just a nightmare, it was hell on earth. The fact that they could live a life here away from all of that was quite simply a miracle.

There was definitely something going on here. That much Rosalie was aware. She didn't have many entanglements to boast about but there was this...spark this...chemistry of sorts. It was like they were naturally being drawn to one another and Rosalie would be remiss to not use this to her advantage. [break][break]

Pushing thoughts of guilt aside she would choose to focus on the moment. Caleb's face darkened at her words as he remembered their time trapped in Kanto. "It is a little hard to believe," That was a given. During war, only death and tragedy stood in their wake. Back then, if they didn't perform the tasks they had been given to perfection they would be forced to endure punishment. Some even faced death. Not safe outside or within it was a nightmare day in and day out. Tomorrow wasn't promised and they never knew when they would take their last breath. [break][break]

That's why Rosalie had to get out of there. She barely escaped with her life. Perhaps if she stayed she would've died there like so many of her former comrades. "But we do get to do things like this now," Caleb's eyes burned with a passion she had never seen before. He was so determined to live his life anew. "We deserve to." Did they? Even though their hands were stained crimson? Did they truly deserve happiness?[break][break]

Rosalie didn't let her own inner turmoil show, instead seemingly getting encouraged from Caleb's own bravado. They were, after all, just tragic tales themselves. The Rosalie she was painting would believe they should be given a second chance, to really do things right this time. Caleb held onto her tightly as he twirled them around the ballroom. The spun past the other couples in a blur of glittering lights. It was dizzying to focus on those on the outside so Rosie turned her attention back to Caleb, to find him staring at her intently. His cyan colored orbs were dripping with the sincerest and gentlest of gazes. "I'm glad we found each other again," he admitted and Rosalie smiled. "Me too." she said softly. She gently leaned her head against his shoulder as she continued, "I'm glad I get to spend this moment with someone who really understands me." her voice was quiet, but loud enough for Caleb to hear over the music. "If feels like....the first time in forever I can relax and be happy." she continued, "And...I wanna be happy."

The best way to lie was to sprinkle some truths in with the lie. It added credibility to the lie you were weaving and made it more memorable, easier to keep track of because there was a personal connection to it. This was a skill that Rosalie had perfected during her time spent in Kanto. Still, somehow taking advantage of those skills right now, she still found her heart ache as she confessed the deep truths buried within her. [break][break]

She. Wanted. To. Be. Happy.[break][break]

And free. It was the stinging truth at the core of her ideals. Whether she believed these things would be obtainable for her was something completely different. But these were, in truth, her heart's desires. Caleb's hand reached up to gently caress her head. His touch, she assumed, was to comfort her. [break][break]

The funny thing about it was, that she did feel a little better. Somehow it managed to soothe the dull aching in her chest as they continued to make their way across the dancefloor. "You'll get to," Caleb told her decisively. "If I have any say in the matter, then you'll be the happiest woman on earth."[break][break]

Rosalie paused as she gently lifted her head up to look up at Caleb with wide eyes. Such a strong declaration, she hadn't expected it from him at all. But then again, this was a topic he felt strongly about as well. It was probably safe to assume he felt a comradery with her since they had so much in common in terms of their ideals. [break][break]

Rosalie chuckle gently as she brought her fingers to her lips delicately, "Well when you put it that way..." She said as she glanced back up at him with sparkling blue orbs, "Then I'll have no choice but to believe you." She said with a brighter smile before using one of the steps to lean closer to his ear and whisper, "Thank you, Caleb."

"Let's do this again," Caleb murmured softly. "Not the masquerade, I mean, but...this." he quickly added as he turned his gaze down towards her. "Us, together. On a date." the slight blush on his cheeks and the gentle boldness to his words confirmed for Rosalie what she had been sensing this entire time, there was something like a spark between the two of them. [break][break]

Caleb didn't think to hide his affection for her now and Rosalie wouldn't be backing down either. Rosie chuckled as she wrapped her arms around Caleb's neck as the music slowed, signaling the end of their little magical dance here. "Ah, so you do like me then." Rosie's tone was playful and melodic and the spark in her gaze was tantalizing.[break][break]

Not wanting to leave him waiting for long she giggled again before giving him a straight answer. "I'd love to go on a date with you." she said with an easy smile before her fingers gently brushed against his cheek. "Aww but you're so cute when you blush. I should've teased you a little more." she laughed, going right back to her playful nature with him.[break][break]

Caleb gently ran his fingers through her hair which felt soothing to Rosie as the made their last turns around the dancefloor as the music swelled and reached it's conclusion. Rosalie let her hands gingerly slide down from Caleb's shoulders to his arms before stepping away and nodding at him. "Thank you for the lovely dance." she smiled at him before glancing over at the orchestra and applauding them along with the other's for their lovely rendition of the previous musical score.

Playful by nature in addition to the naturalness of these exchanges between them lead Rosalie to a successful performance. Method acting, a tool of talented actors or actresses to produce more realistic results. They draw upon their real life experiences and put them into practice for their role. With a dash of improvisation, requiring the actor to be a quick thinker, the role displayed by the actor could be considered one of a kind. [break][break]

Rosalie thought she'd be ready for anything here. Caleb certainly kept surprising her but it wasn't unpleasant and it wasn't something that was too much for her to handle. However, despite the obvious attraction between the two and the exchange of playful remarks, Rosalie would've never guessed in a million years what Caleb would do next. [break][break]

"It was a nice dance, but if you keep teasing me, I'll have to do something like this." Caleb's voice was low, huskier than normal, and dripping with desire. It took Rosalie so off guard that she completely missed the fact that he had smoothly closed the distance between them once more and was now dangerously close to her face. [break][break]

Just as her brain made that realization his lips were on hers. Rosalie's eyes widened in shock before she quickly felt her face heat up as the blood rushed to color her cheeks and the tips of her ears. Caleb's hand on the back of her head as he lightly gripped her hair and sensually tipped her head back a bit, caused Rosalie's heart to almost beat out of her chest. [break][break]

When he pulled away the smug smirk on his lips said it all. Had he always been like this? For the first time in an extremely long time, Rosalie was totally flustered. Normally she was the instigator behind the flirting and teasing. She would always set the pace as other's were drawn into her with her allure and charm. [break][break]

But now, Rosalie stood there, not as a picturesque version of a femme fatale, but more like an embarrassed girl in front of her high school crush. Her fingers gently pressed against her lips as if she could still feel the heat from his own on them. Rosalie was no stranger to being on the receiving end of someone's passionate desire but, as she stared back into Caleb's own sapphire orbs she found herself questioning if anyone had ever wanted her quite like this?[break][break]

"Shall we get new drinks?" Caleb's voice snapped Rosalie from her dazed train of thoughts. "H-huh? Oh drinks right." she mumbled softly before clearing her throat and turning so her back was facing away from him. Her face was burning, she was sure it was so obvious. On top of her emotions being all over the place she was more embarrassed that she hadn't recovered yet. "D-drinks sound lovely." Rosalie said while shyly avoiding Caleb's gaze, even though she could still feel it on her. [break][break]

Beyond her immediate embarrassment, Rosalie felt a new surge of an emotion within her. Competitiveness. She'd get him back for this before their little magical night ended, that was for sure.
