Walpurgisnacht wasn't exactly the place she typically went to relax. Not with the beat of the bass thrumming through the furniture, making ripples in the orange tint of the Gravedigger drink she was still nursing. Marza wasn't a vodka-drink type of person, especially not when it was coated with heavy fruit-flavored syrup. It had been suggested, and for some reason, she fell for it. In the end, it wasn't awful, but it didn't beat a whiskey straight for her. Either way, it went down the same way.

She was still feeling the after-effects of Mt. Pyre in her bones, aching and grinding with every movement. Her skin was the evidence of her failure, written in the scar firmly engraved on her cheek. Scars didn't bother her. After all, she had her fair share, but these felt distinctly bitter-sweet. She'd survived it though, she had to remind herself. Even if that meant recalling her life was somewhat indebted to fern delaney and jayden cross . Idiots. Maybe she'd join them later, still. If she felt like it.

For now, she'd toast this syrupy, overly-sweetened drink in their favor. With a gulp that was likely too big, she finished it off and pushed the glass aside. Her face was frozen in a sour expression from the oran berry juice and pecha liqueur, as she noticed an all-too familiar face. Mei Liu was hard to ignore and, clearly, no one in the club had missed her.

"Whiskey neat." She said to the bartender, a touch too hastily, desperate to get the too-sweat taste off her tongue.

Mei sipped her GRAVEDIGGER at the bar, completely at ease in the midst of the crowded, bass-thumping, blue-tinted Walpurgisnacht club. She had frequented this establishment several times for work. A few of her clients liked to bring her here simply to have someone to dance with - if one could call the sweaty grinding of bodies in front of the DJ dancing - and others preferred to walk in with a gorgeous woman on their arm, only to abandon her in favor of a far more tempting mistress: lady luck.[break][break]

Of course, Mei zeroed in on her with viper-like quickness. Not that Marza was necessarily complaining. The night was almost beginning to feel a little lonely. Granted though, admittedly, women like Mei made her nervous. She was dangerous and she knew it, which was a bad combination that Marza had determined over the years did not mix well with her.

Marza wasn’t overly familiar with the sense of company. Despite her best intentions to seem uninterested, she mostly just didn’t know how to deal with people. She was all rough edges and a foul tongue. Her entire life had been grinded down to a specific kind of sharpness that most people found either uncomfortable or painful to interact with. Mei was something of an enigma for her, admittedly. It wasn't like many people were lining up wanting to know things about her. It made her feel somewhat skeptical about the authenticity of it all. Despite all of the questions Mei had about Marza's past - her story, as Mei had called it - she found herself fixating on the future, instead. Perhaps that was because most people weren't keen on looking backwards; Rockets like Marza and Mei didn't always have histories they wished to relive. There would be time to learn more about where Marza came from and why she'd joined the world's most notorious criminal organization. The thing about peoples' stories is that they were actively being written. Only death was "the end."[break][break]

Marza frowned at that response. It wasn't what she wanted to hear because it didn't match the criteria she expected. Nobody liked her. Mei wasn't just beautiful, she was smart and deadly. She had the sort of strength and prowess that women wished themselves capable of.
