[attr="class","skullbody"]Isaac smirked a little in response to Asher's big grin. "Oh, trust me. I've got a lot more tricks up my sleeve than you'd think," he said. He'd let that sentence hang there. They had other things to talk about, and no good showman tipped their hand right away.[break][break]

That said, there were some tricks missing from his bag. Asher found a particularly devious one. "Buddy, you have no idea how mad I am that I didn't think of it til you said something," he confessed, already snickering at the idea. "I feel like an eyepatch is more my speed than pretending I'm something I'm not. But, man. I gotta break that one out at least once."[break][break]

At the mention of Littleroot, Isaac couldn't help but cringe a little. Mt. Pyre had gotten banged up, but at least the mountain was still in one piece. Once the restless spirits settled, it could return to its sacred duties. Was Littleroot in that much worse condition? Did they seriously have to fight in such a peaceful town? "I'm just hoping nobody's too hurt . . ." he said, more to himself than to Asher.[break][break]

That said, was there seriously a kid there? Was that kid seriously hunting Rockets down? Was that kid seriously doing a good job of it? Briefly, Isaac remembered his talk with Rosmontis, and the counsel that she had given him through the gathering storm inside of his head. But there was no way she was the one to take up arms, right? Eris Halla was her best friend. Would the two really end up that diametrically opposed?[break][break]

"I just hope no other kids get dragged into this whole mess."

Isaac maintained his high spirits, saying he had more tricks up his sleeve. "Well, I hope to see them." The red head started laughing at the suggestion. Even if an eyepatch was more the man's thing, that would be absolutely hilarious. Unfortunately the conversation got a bit more serious at the mention of Littleroot. Isaac cringed. "Hard to say. I haven't heard much about casualties on both sides. I just know that Xerneas and Groundon were there when the legendary that was sealed up got released by the Primal energy. Or something like that. Something else was found there too." He could probably get more information. Even with his blazing red hair, he was surprisingly unnoticed. The short stature helped, but he wasn't tiny. And was usually loud too. Yet he can gather gossip like nobody's business, in addition to being a petty thief.

The hope made his eyes furrow. "Not to be more of a Debbie Downer, but if Rocket continues these types of operations, attacking the League in cities and towns...children are going to get involved. Same with the reverse, if the League attacks Rockets in cities and towns. Everyone gets affected by these disasters and attacks and more. You just gotta hope they have enough survival instincts or adults around them to get them to safety. Or the League does a more thorough job in evacuation. The only other child I heard was the one Minor League Gym Leader. But I didn't hear if she interfered or not. If you want, I can see what else I can find through the grapevine."

[attr="class","skullbody"]Groudon and Xerneas, huh? Damn, both sides were pulling out all the stops for that battle. Come to think of it, were there any legendaries on Mt. Pyre? Once Palkia came out, Isaac honestly tuned out. He only had a single eye, making his single minded focus even more tunnel visioned.[break][break]

"Far as I can tell, it's the first big clash the League and Rocket have had in a long while. I'm not surprised they broke out all the stops, especially when the League figured there were world-ending stakes." He wondered if they would think more or less of them if they knew that Rocket had no intention of causing the apocalypse. Would they be relieved to know they weren't total monsters? Or would they resent them even more for causing such risk to satisfy such petty greed?[break][break]

Still, whether the stakes were apocalyptic or not, they sure were cataclysmic. While there wasn't much news of casualties yet, there was no way to fight over towns without innocents getting involved. Even the League's best attempts at avoiding undue harm could still risk causing collateral. If they pulled their punches to avoid it, Rocket would gleefully indulge to take advantage of that weakness. And if the League ever got fed up and went after a town as defensible as Sootopolis? Those citizens would be under great threat.[break][break]

"Makes me wish we never started these operations in the first place," Isaac admitted. "All I can see are a million ways it'll blow up in everyone's faces, theirs and ours alike. But, we're already in this mess. Just means gotta stay afloat however we can, yeah?" That attack changed the game forever. Forget past history in Kanto, the threat was now present. Forget one-off conquest of Sootopolis, the incidents were now a pattern. War was only going to flare up more from here.[break][break]

Asher seemed willing to dig up more information. He was a good kid. Isaac hoped that he managed to make it out of all this with his hide intact. "Never a bad idea to keep your eyes and ears open," Isaac said. "Not just for me, but for your own information, too. Sometimes, it's the only thing we can truly rely on."[break][break]

Knowledge was power. And Isaac was tired of being weak.

"Since Sootopolis far as I know." He found it wierd that the League didn't try to oust Rocket out of the city. But then again, the city was tough enough to oust them, and the Tree of Life was there too. Now, it no longer was. But then the current circumstances were around, and not even counting how defensible it was now that he was thinking about it. Isaac's next comment had its merits. "Yep. But the only way they will stop is if someone replaces the guy at the top, and good luck with that. I definitely don't want to meet him personally. And you gotta be careful on who replaces him, too." He was half glad that he had no intention of getting involved in anything major like that. After being told to keep an ear out no matter what, Asher responded enthusiastically. "I'll what I can do. Sadly, visitor hours are almost up, so I better get going, or one of the nurses may drag me out. You behave well enough that they let you leave, ok? I'll be waiting for you." The red head got up and gave the blonde an awkward hug. Bones even got close and held out a hand for a high-five. For both Isaac and Hearth. Only then did both of them leave. With some comforting thoughts that Isaac was going to be okay.
