A hastily flashed hand gesture, from the back of his neck. Sultry words kept him occupied as she called upon Tyche's wrath.[break][break]
Mei pressed eager lips to Remiel's mouth, a kiss meant to distract from imminent death.[break][break]
The Froslass appeared behind Remiel, manifesting out of thin air and immediately summoning a BLIZZARD of razor sharp icicles. The pointed tips coalesced in the air, then rocketed towards their target with alarming speed. Mei closed her eyes, enjoying the taste of him, waiting for the impact of blades upon flesh.[break][break]
A shame, really. She might have actually enjoyed herself, under different circumstances.

Eager hands find themselves firm on the curves of her waist when she draws him close. He wants her all to himself tonight. It's a flicker of fire in his eyes when their gazes meet. It's the way his teeth rake his bottom lip as he admires her own.[BREAK][BREAK]

The whisper may have acted as a warning to his would-be assassin, but that does not deter Remiel from kissing her regardless. And, though he savors each swipe of her tongue and the softness of those pristine lips, his sharp hues of cobalt blue open to see the ominous reflection in the glass window across from him: a FROSLASS preparing a deadly BLIZZARD.[break][break]

The moment those spears of ice are launched, however, the pair disappear in the blink of an eye. The glasses they once held shatter on the ground below, spilling ice, liquor, and orange peels across the hardwood floor. And where do they reappear?[break][break]

Remiel's hotel bedroom.

Casting a LIGHTNING STILETTO at predetermined locations before venturing out was customary to the EX-ADMIN these days. Quick getaways were useful when you had a price on your head. This particular type of getaway was instantaneous.[break][break]

Nevertheless, Remiel was still subject to human faults. For one, the whiplash from such a sudden teleport, with Mei Liu in his arms no less, sends them both spinning before he pins her by the wrists against the wall. And, secondly, his timing had been off by a millisecond.[break][break]

The exiled prince can feel the icy hot pain blooming across his back like a fire. Blood drips from his back and soaks his once-pristine shirt. It doesn't feel fatal, at least, and he's withstood worse pain than this. But he can't help the pain-filled growl he emits as he applies pressure to keep her still.[break][break]

"Arceus... and I thought we were having such a nice night..."

He groans through gritted teeth, their faces inches apart as his ROTOM defense comes to life in the living room. They can hear the THUNDER WAVE as it spreads from every appliance to PARAYLZE Mei's FROSLASS, exploding the hotel microwave.[break][break]

He kissed her back, and it was, to his credit, a very good kiss.[break][break]
For a moment, it seemed as if her ploy had worked. The sickening sounds of razor sharp ice shards biting into hot flesh informed Mei that Tyche had managed to get off her attack. But then she felt the familiar sensation of teleportation, as if something inside of her was being stretched - almost snapping - then falling back into place. She opened her eyes, and found that she was in the midst of toppling to the ground - in an entirely different section of the hotel suite.[break][break]
It had all happened so fast; just like that, he was now on top of her, awkwardly pinning her to the wall.[break][break]
Cobalt eyes glazed over with pain, and he growled out a quip. She couldn't help but smile, masking the adrenaline and anxiety that coursed through her with a casual amusement. This man was an Avatar, and his Patron could crush her like a Cutiefly, but if she played her cards right, she might still get out of this alive.[break][break]
"We were," she lamented, with sincere regret. "But I suppose the fun's over now."[break][break]
Tyche barely escaped the rapidly expanding THUNDER WAVE, phasing through the wall into the bedroom in a flash. Her eyes narrowed as she saw Mei being held by the prince.[break][break]
"Stand down, Tyche. We can't win against Zekrom."[break][break]
The Froslass balked, keening sharply, but did not send more ice at Remiel.[break][break]
Mei gazed up at her captor, seafoam eyes more curious than outwardly afraid.[break][break]
"Well, what do you plan to do with me now that you've caught me?"[break][break]
He'd impressed her, she realized. Too many men were just foolish enough - and often, just lonely enough - to disregard a pretty face, but Remiel Calcifet had been ready for an attack. Well, he did have all of Rocket hot on his heels. Perhaps this had always been something of a long shot.

Remiel casts a brief glare at the Froslass nearby. It seemed WATTSON had been unsuccessful in detaining it. Nevertheless, Mei opts to have it stand down. An escalation of violence here was unwise. It was already clear her assassination attempt had failed.[break][break]

The grip around her wrists doesn't loosen despite the gesture, however. The haggard EX-ADMIN keeps her pinned to the wall with them, pressed upon her close with a knee between her legs, restricting much of her movement. Despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins now, however, and despite the searing pain upon his back... the curiosity in her seafoam eyes infects his own.[break][break]

He can't deny it. The rush from before hasn't dissipated yet either. Had it all been a ruse? Or had there really been some sort of connection there? Primal as it may have been, it still sizzles beneath his skin like a warm fire. But things had changed. To explore that any further was foolish. Even still...[break][break]

What was he planning to do with her now?

[break]

Tying her up and waiting for the LEAGUE to show up was as foolish as her engaging in combat with him. If she was the professional he imagined her to be, Remiel knew she had contingencies. Particularly: the Froslass that hovered nearby in a semi-corporeal state.[break][break]

Alas, with their faces so close, he whispers to her: "Don't ever come after me again, Mei Liu. It'll be the last thing you do." The defector matter-of-factly warns, slightly shifting in position as his hues of cobalt-blue drift down from her eyes to the rest of her face. Only then does the simmering beneath his skin flare as their lips meet again.[break][break]

This time, however, the act is much less gentle. Where the previous had flowed like a pristine river, this was a raging wildfire, stoked with the thrill of danger, violence, and anger. As it reaches a crescendo, however, and Remiel drops his hands from her wrists to frame her face instead, there's a sharp and abrupt ZAP.[break][break]

And his would-be assassin falls unconscious.[break][break]

The ZEKROM AVATAR had used his lips as a conduit through which to flow his electricity. Mei Liu might come to this realization when she comes to minutes afterward, back against the wall but, seemingly, gently placed down. Remiel Calcifet was, of course, nowhere to be found now.[break][break]

And, with his ability to TELEPORT, it was almost impossible to guess where he had disappeared, leaving only the lingering static on her lips.[break][break]

She woke sometime later, head full of hazy memories: a strong hand at her hip, whispered words against her ear, and eyes that promised a kingdom painted blue.[break][break]
The first thing she noticed was that she was alone, save for Tyche, who drifted above her protectively. Mei groaned, sitting upright. The broken glass, the toppled furniture...it began to come back to her, piece by piece, moment by moment: she had tried to kill Remiel Calcifet in this hotel room, just as Rocket had ordered, and she had failed.[break][break]
Such a mistake ought to have cost her gravely. She should be dead.[break][break]
Don't ever come after me again, Mei Liu. It'll be the last thing you do.[break][break]
Her lips quirked as his voice echoed in her mind. It was a threat she knew she should take seriously, considering he wielded the power of an ancient draconic god...[break][break]
But a part of her hoped she would see him again. In fact, she would make sure of it.
