• Nikolaj was born in Jubilife City, Sinnoh and was raised by a single father, Evgeni Volosenkov. His mother, Oxana, divorced her husband and abandoned her son when Nikolaj was only six years old.
• Nikolaj dropped out of high school when he was sixteen.
• When he was in his late 20s, he lost his right eye in an altercation with a street thug. He will freely admit this is what caused him to meet his wife, Camila Volosenkova.
• The majority of his life in Sinnoh is unknown. However, when he was in his early thirties, he moved to Hoenn with Camila. They settled in Oldale Town, where they still live to this day.
• Nikolaj and Camila have a daughter, saskia volosenkova.
• Currently, Nikolaj works as the Ranger Captain of Oldale and Littleroot. He has a side gig as a handyman.

• Nikolaj earned the nickname Chernobog during his time working for Sinnoh Rocket between 1985 and 1999. Known for his ruthlessness and loyalty, he rose to the rank of executive.
• In 1999, Nikolaj received permission from the Sinnoh Rocket Boss at the time to retire after doing the Boss a favor. Nikolaj did not share with anyone where he would retire to.

• Some of the atrocities Nikolaj committed as a member of Team Rocket include the trafficking and murder of women and children. While he has confessed all of his crimes to Camila, he keeps them a secret from everyone else in his life, including his child(ren).
• Unbeknownst to Nikolaj, he has an older bastard son (mid-20s) from his relationship with an ex-girlfriend. He broke off their relationship before he knew she was pregnant.
