Three children, three heirs…

Two of them failed.

One broke to the pressure, and discarded the family to pursue her own goals.

One fell to the whims of her heart and tore herself out of the family in sheer spite.

One was left behind to carry the burden of the family. But unlike the other two, she would not fail. No. She would not be allowed the luxury of failure.

Morrigan was born and raised in the shadows of her siblings. She loved her siblings and her parents as all kids do. And yet she could not help but feel that her older sisters were but competitors in the battle for her parent’s love and affection.

And so she watched them, watched their weaknesses unfold. And she was quick to please her parents by not succumbing to the selfsame weaknesses. It did help that by the time her parents started to focus on her, they had realized the flaws in their own parenting style and adjusted accordingly. Some might’ve said they had mellowed, but nothing could be further from the truth. They had simply grown wiser.

And so she was allowed the things her sisters were not. She was given Pokémon even when she held no love for battle. She was granted more freedom, when she preferred to wear her chains as ornaments.

And so she found a moment of relief when her parents decided to uproot and flee the region as Meteno came hurtling toward them, just in time to dodge the dome that would descend on Hoenn.

They moved to Galar, then Johto as Darkness descended upon Galar.

But it never really felt like home. The Anderson name did not carry the same weight even if the money were the same. Her parents loathed their situation, and she did so too.

By the time they returned to Hoenn the dome was gone. News of what happened and how it happened reached them quickly, as well as how high Elinor Anderson had ascended.

Morrigan grew jealous. How dared Elinor ascend the social-political ladder like that when she was naught but a failure.

If Elinor could, then so could Morrigan, and that’s where we find her today.
