The Mechanical kingdom.

The last time Felix transverse this plain of existence, it'd been with illeana reyes, and he was still scrambling to pick up the pieces of that encounter altogether. Foruntainately, today wasn't expected to be as eventful.

"What do you think?"

Whether he was referring to the sudden surge of rifts, this realm, or entirely something else was impossible to tell. Beyond the stoic expression he wore, Felix's eyes were drawn out toward their surroundings, eyebrows furrowed in thoughtful surveillance for any possible threats. As long as they were here, the possibility of danger was always lurking around the corner.

It is Gavin's first time in this place, and the underboss casts a wary gaze around the clockwork kingdom. There is no sign of life in their immediate surroundings, beyond the two Rockets themselves, but that doesn't put Gavin at ease.[break][break]

What does ease his mind is the dark shadow cast over them by Lugia's wings, the wind from which ruffles his hair and drags at his clothes.[break][break]

"I think this place is deceptively peaceful."[break][break]

Recent experiences in the Ultra Deep Sea and Ultra Desert have not made him look kindly upon the rifts.[break][break]

"Have you been here before?"[break][break]

The clicking of gears did offer an off-putting sense of peace. It was methodical, it was quiet, and it felt unsusceptible to the threats of chaos.

"I've been here once before."

Specifically, with Beast bryan delarosa . But he thought it wise to omit that tiny bit of detail.

"There were some volcanion guards stationed around during that time. Don't see any traces of them now, though."

This time, the ticking walls looked as delicate as those found in an antique shop. If there were guards lurking within them, it was too hard to tell.

Felix slipped his hand into his pocket. Inside, his fingers grazed the jagged edges of the primal crystal inside.

"We should be able to teleport from here." He took out the primal crystal borrowed from priam conrad . "Ready?"

He'd noticed in his own excursions in the Wilds that the environment seemed more hostile the longer they'd remained, as if it were honing in on the threat of outsiders. "I don't know their level of intelligence, but if they are smart enough to hide..."[break][break]

Amber eyes cut across the PRIMAL CRYSTAL; he'd seen it before, when Zev Harcourt had turned it over to him.[break][break]

Will it feel the same as teleporting?[break][break]

That was all he needed to hear.

Fingers rubbing against the jagged edges of the primal crystal, Felix gave it one last graze before activating it. It's without hesitation that the world around them began to flicker in and out of visibility, warping until only colors enveloped them in a haze of shapes.

Then a flash of darkness bit into their vision, blanketing their world entirely, filtering out immediately after.

"One second."

When they arrived, finally stabilized after paying the price of teleportation, their surroundings held little light to them. Just shadows tinted by a hidden trickle of light. It was why he reached into his bag, bringing out one of the two flashlights he'd brought along. He handed the other to the underboss.

Now illuminated by their beams of light, pieces of the puzzles slowly came together, taking the shape of what looked to be a coal engine room.

"Huh."

The bleeding and blending of colour makes Gavin feel nauseous, so he closes his eyes as the crystal transports them. The darkness behind his vision goes blacker still, and the underboss opens his eyes to find himself in a shadowy engine room.[break][break]

Though he accepts the flashlight offered to him, Gavin also pulls a luxury ball from his belt.[break][break]

Cracks in the antlers of the Sawsbuck bleed a gentle light. A click of Gavin's tongue sees that light intensify until it ILLUMINATES their surroundings in the pale pink of the buds that sprout along its velvet antlers.[break][break]

Gavin aims the flashlight's more intense beam toward one of the engines.[break][break]

"I wonder what puts the coal in."

The sparks of enlightenment were well appreciated. As bright as his flashlights were, they could only do so much against the thick blankets of darkness that surrounded them. The engines looked dead, dormant, and ignorant of the world around them.

Felix slowly approached it, kneeling at its side. With his flashlight, he gave its insides a closer look.

"Maybe a pokemon."

There was one made coal, no? Its name escaped him.

Torso twisting back around, he glanced over his shoulder, regarding the underboss with a curt nod.

"It's dead."
