Tending to his garden was like meditation in action. Finn bent over, his back glowing in the sun, as he pulled out the budding stray weeds that were creeping up along the sides of his plot. The garden is like the mind - keep it fresh and clean so that the right things will thrive. Finn poured out a happy amount of fresh water onto his berries and hoped they would pop up from the ground soon.

Finnegan scooped up some fertiliser, courtesy of Flying Sword School's modest Miltank farm, and spread it evenly across the soil. Gardening was like training. You didn't see the results immediately, but you had to trust the process. Sometime, some day, things will bloom. Finn sat by the side, satisfied after a day's work, and mopped his face with a towel.

Sometimes, Finn doubted himself. There was so much uncertainty in watching things grow. Students, you could talk to them, observe - seeds just stayed buried until further notice. Finn sat by the side of his garden and just stared.

It was hot. Finn took a big, long gulp of water and let his plants have the same. If they drank more, maybe they'd grow soon.

The sun got hotter. Wearing just his workout pants, Finnegan sweated buckets as he tilled the ground and pulled out weeds from the soil.

Something was happening! Stirred by the sound of rustling leaves, Finn looked up from watching his perspiration seep into the soil. A little Treecko had ventured into the garden in search for a snack!

"Haha, you're out of luck," Finn chuckled dryly. "We're all waiting too." Treecko looked up at Finn with its huge reptile eyes. Finn wondered what he was saying - was he saying Finn was a lousy gardener?

If so, he agreed.

"What about you stay here for a little while?" Finn asked gently. "We can share the berries once they've grown." And so, he nudged a Pokeball towards the Treecko's snout.

Treecko sat down beside Finn and they watched the sun set together. It was nice to have a new friend.

Finn turned to Treecko, whom he'd named Shu, after the tall forests.

"What do you think of staying here in the garden to look after the crops?"
