after an especially tiring day of training and patrolling, matias finally decides to settle down for the night, content with the progress he's made, though definitely annoyed at the overall stance the league still seems hellbent to uphold.[break][break]

a war will come and it will be one they will not win if changes are not made.[break][break]

but his grievances are kept to himself for now. he is but a mere sergeant, after all, and it's only been a couple of months since he's been allowed to run his own squad.[break][break]

he settles down on a log beside the campfire, bumping his shoulder into the only other person there, Sol Edelman.[break][break]

It had been a busy day. Between fulfilling her training and dealing with a few audacious recruits, there was little time for rest. Which, of course, left the poor woman unapologetically tired by the time the sun had dipped down into its bed.

"Killer," Sol gave a side-ways glance at him. A wide wolfish grin clawed its way up the side of her face. "How about you? Heard you were stuck on patrol."

Ember crackled in the sprawling fire. Its intensity licked up the sides of their faces, providing warmth for the price of their shadows.

Sol wasn't Matias.

The term consequences still held a bite she couldn't escape. Like a looming threat, it forced her into compliance, evoking pain from the idea of insubordination.

"You should be careful, being loud like that."

Her eyes caught onto the fire. Its red lip and warm oranges licked the still air, burning heat into their surroundings.

Her voice sprang back into life, chuckling as she continued.

"Actually, nevermind. Keep going. It'll be fun watching your ass get stuck in the fuckin' trenches."
