The spell broke. Caleb's anger faded, replaced by shock, as he realized hot blood was pouring onto his hand - the hand that gripped the knife he'd used to...[break][break]

He'd stabbed Zev.[break][break]
Caleb yanked the knife from Zev's side, some distant part of his brain knowing that the wound had not been fatal: as long as he bandaged it tightly and avoided infection, Zev would survive. This fact did not relieve the horror at the realization of what he had done, however.[break][break]
Caleb pushed Zev off, and scrambled to his feet. The color draining from his face, hands shaking, he backed slowly away. His body felt suddenly exhausted, bone-weary in a way he had never felt before. He stared down at his brother: someone he'd once looked up to, loved more than anyone else in the world.[break][break]
"Get him help," Caleb snapped at the enraged Hatterene, ripping his eyes away from what he had done. Something in Caleb's voice - perhaps some note that sounded like Zev's, or just the sheer intensity of the command - prevented her from further advancing on him. As if on autopilot, the Ranger sheathed the bloody knife, then grabbed two Pokeballs: returning the fainted Comet, and releasing Zero. The Hisuian Zoroark immediately sensed the tension, readying for a fight. Caleb shook his head.[break][break]
"Get me out of here." It was a quiet, heartbroken plea.[break][break]
PHANTOM FORCE swept Caleb up in shadow, the only evidence that he had been there at all the spilled blood of his brother.
