Milo was starting over. A backing band composed of locals filling in, and him going about business as usual. He wore a white polo and white jeans, alongside the gold standard of shoes for untrustworthy men. You've never seen magic until you've seen this dog turn into a snake.

The venue was admittedly, small for him at 500 capacity. Doors at 6pm. He breezed through his set, seemingly turning back on that alienated nerd persona he made his bones on. His every word was spit out with a sneer. “You were all surfers last year. Three years ago, it wasn't cool. You spit on me, but I'm no one.”

He strutted around the stage, turning "I hate everything and that means you, I hate you more than I do" into a chant that the crowd chanted with him. By the time the show ended and the lights were cut, his face was covered in sweat and he splayed himself across the couch backstage.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a boy with cyan hair approach him. While his appearance was charming and boyish... while Milo could see himself in him... His head perked up.

“...What's the move, man? What's up?”

Mint isn't typically one to go out of his way for recruitment. But sometimes a target puts itself in front of him and he has to at least gage how easy a score it could be. That's what tonight is. He's here by chance, an online date he wouldn't remember. He loses them in the crowd, busy on his phone as he texts someone much faster, and smarter than him photos of the front man. Something about the face itches his brain. [break][break]

But he doesn't quite get it, yet. But he does feel that the grungy vibes aren't just the stage persona. He doesn't trust Milo as far as he could throw him. Which is just as well. He didn't need to offer him a job. [break][break]

Rocket had the money, the power, but he thought from time to time it would benefit from more friendly faces. Not to pay anybody's hero, no, but to lead with their cults of personality. Draw in more and more eyes when ultimately the bomb dropped and all of Rocket was out in the open. [break][break]

"Nice performance, you always play here?" he asked, grinning as he approached. It's easy to get a moment with them. The vibes are laid back, and most people seemed to be murmuring and talking amongst themselves or getting refills. He tilts his head towards the wall, intent to pull the stranger further away. "Get a drink with me?"

Friendly was a stretch. Milo had a bad attitude, and seemingly blew up his life over and over to justify it. Skipped college for his rock band, robbed the label for his masters over owed royalties, and roped his girlfriend into doing a burglary with him. He'd open a fake insta to impersonate you and take money for promos, only to not post.

The offer caught his ear. Milo smiled, rolling over. Unfortunately for him, he rolled over right onto the hardwood floor. He winced, and stood up to face Mint. “I'm used to bigger shows. I just came to make a little money, and blow it all on drinks.”

Their appearance screamed overgrown boy. Everything from the tennis-club attire to the dyed, short hair. His eyes had a sadness to them, with eyebags so wide they looked like the smile he wore on his face. If Mint squinted to either his neck or left hand, he could make out an extra-long sleeve tattoo with a rose motif.

Without asking if Mint partook, Milo faked a cough, and his fist dipped into his pocket.

“...Hell yeah, dude. Lead the way.”

Lips pull back into a grin as he shook with a snicker, and waited for the performer to get back up again. "Nothing wrong with a bit of pocket change." he said back with a small shrug. "Sure." [break][break]

He weaves past and through people like it's nothing, sidestepping easily between couples of friend groups. He doesn't wait for Milo, tapping the bar and smiling up at the bartender. Mint flashed a hand signaling for two. [break][break]

She comes back with two shooters of something dark brown and sweet. "Cheers!" he clinks hit little glass against Milo's. "C'mon, c'mon. Must be thirsty after all that screaming." He taps the glass on the couther before knocking it back, and shivering at the burn. The glass is set back down for the bartender to grab. "So what do you do when you're not out doing small gigs?"

His naturally scratchy voice rumbled. He was clearly overclocking something. Close to the vocal equivalent of an ACL tear. Mint weaved through the crowd with ease. “...”

Mint brought them to the bar counter. Frankly, bartenders should get honorary social worker certifications, for all the weird dudes they straighten out. Two shooters were set infront of them. He was a clear man, but a challenge was a challenge. The shot burned, but he wanted more, even as his eyes nearly popped out of his head. He winked, and put an elbow on the counter. "Such a delicate little man~. SIXTEEN OUNCES OF WHATEVER THAT WAS. I'LL TIP A HUNDRED. MY MONEY REAL GOOD RIGHT NOW."

He blasted his pink vape with no shame, the watermelon flavored steam slowly drifting off. He set his little glass down for the bartender and quietly murmured a thank-you. He then turned back to Mint.

“Raising hell. My... frenemy is a famous pokemon Ranger. I wanna make him regret posting my bond. But with a face like this... nobody can stay mad at me. I... stole half my pokemon. But it's past the statute of limitations, so I'm allowed to say it.”

He pretends he doesn't see Milo fighting the liquor he'd down. Not like Mint was any better, smiling hard and shivering as he swallowed with out a typical chaser. He lets Milo be belligerent. After all, that's what he'd shown on stage. Why would off it be any different? "Honey! Jack!" Mint cheered, as he waiting for Milo to slap down the alleged cash. He wondered, briefly, if the guy even had the money. That'd suck. [break][break]

"Haaah? Which one?" Briefly, he wonders if its Laurence Anderson , given the word 'frenemy'. "No way, are they cute?" Mint asked as the bartender came back with a pint of whiskey. He takes the liberty of filling up Milo's shot glass for him before going for his own. "Why'd he post your bond? Can't do it yourself?" he asked as he set the bottle down and waited for Milo to pick up his glass.

He choked down the shot, but a glass was set infront of him. Milo pushed it back, asked for a Blinker. 2:1:! Rye, grapefruit, simple syrup. 24 ounces. He then put a hand over his mouth, trying not to laugh at Mint's question. “Josh Devlin. The pro racer.”

He gave up, and let out a snicker. The amber light seemingly killed the lavender of his face tattoos. He raised his eyebrows at Mint, while slowly reaching down. He slid a bill on the counter, before looking back to him. "He has a jock thing goin' on that you might like. Not sure what your deal is. Either way, very straight. If you hit on him it'd go over his head and he'd think you wanna be his friend."

He hit his vape again. For a man hitting twenty-two, sure looked like Terrible Twos for an infant again. Right down to the pacifier. The bartender returned with his cocktail, and he sipped at him.

“Me on the other hand~... I could afford to bail myself out, but I feel like an asshole when someone gives me a gift and I turn it down. --Is there somethin' I can do for you? I wanna pay it forward.”

Mint grinned, snorting at the revelation of Josh Devlin . He knew him and while some may think his enthusiasm cute, Mint didn't. Josh was just a lot for him, and that was saying something. But he could appreciate his work ethic. Though races were fucking brutal. "Aww, I wouldn't mind being friends with him." he said with a laugh. His deal? He didn't think it necessary to explain to a stranger at the moment. [break][break]

"Mmm, maybe. I got a business proposal you may find incredibly convenient, but it's your party. I don't wanna ruin it right now." he said with another laugh. "Plus, I kinda need a little privacy. If I'm being honest." he said. "I get embarrassed doin' business in public you know?" He checks his phone, hiding his eyes as he reads through his messages. He sends a quick thanks as recognition hits after a few words. Excellent. A little reckless but...musicians often were, right?

Milo smiled at the thought of it. It was naive to believe that all of your friends will get along, but he had faith this time. His eyes seemed to unfocus, and the smell of his drinks seemed to linger when he spoke, in that voice he blew out yelling. "Feels like he can get along with anyone."

Milo rolled his eyes. He had no clue what Mint was being coy about. But with all the grace he didn't have, he stood from the barstool. Milo pointed with his thumb at the green-room they were just in. He glanced up, forcing a grin and pretending to not notice the phone.

“I'm cool with whatever, man. But we had privacy when you saw me on the couch. Wanna have this talk back there?”

Mint nodded along still sipping his own glass despite the rowdiness of the party around them. He laughed at Milo. "Hey now! I said I didn't wanna spoil your fun. You worked hard, you deserved a drink~" he said with ease. [break][break]

"Sure, I think the booze is hitting nicely so it's getting harder to focus with all the bass basted noise." he added, stepping off his seat and following along. [break][break]

Once they're back to the little green room couch, he doesn't sit down. He knows better than to sit on The Couch. He didn't want to burn these clothes later. Luckily no one seems to be around, and most people were partying harder off stage. [break][break]

"Lesse if I get this right...Milo Lovell Sharpe? Did I say that right?" he said, looking through his phone once more, still keeping up the same casual grin. "Sorry, bud, they don't write the pronunciations on police reports." he said. [break][break]

"Anyway, I was looking through your file and I think you've got a knack for getting things you want, but maybe a bit of a history fucking up execution?" he shrugged. "Workable, really. What we really ought to focus on today is that charm." he said, raising his phone to snap a picture of Milo. [break][break]

"I'm here to offer you a job. I think you have potential, and I think you'd be interested in easy money, pretty boy."

Mint was so right to not sit on the couch. The altar of accumulated mansweat. The table too, which following Milo's appearance had a... green powder? All over the surface, with a large white mug dead-center? In either case, Milo flopped on the couch, leaned in to grab his mug, and put his feet up. "Feels like he can get along with anyone."

Mint used his full name. Sent a chill down his spine. Felt like Principal's office, maybe angry boyfriend's parents territory. In either case, the little apology did little to calm him down. Milo sipped at his... green beverage to try and take the edge off.

"Fucked up execution... That was once and I was seventeen. I'm real crafty these days. Makin' people wonder if I did it. Sticky fingers, feathered hair, and an ass that won't quit."

He tried so hard to play it off, even going so far as to smirk. Did he get cornered by a fed, or something? But then the proposition came, and a grin from ear to ear came. He folded one leg over the other, sitting upright.

“You could've lead with that, honestly. I'm all ears.”

"Point is you fucked that up, and a lot of things after right?" Mint asked not giving room for argument as he continued scrolling. "Despite that, still at a budding music career. Still interfacing with an array of pretty interesting people. An appeal that somehow still pulls pretty diverse crowd." he pockets his phone. [break][break]

"I know a guy, that needs a face guy for a couple of jobs. No info, need to know. 30% cash up front, the rest when they finish the job." he said. [break][break]

"He's not exactly trusting so it'd be like...a part time position. Bit of an intern situation with an NDA attached to it. Except the NDA is if you talk we take a finger." he shrugs. "But, if you impress 'em, better career opportunities for you than just dive bars. You know?" Mint added. No he would not say it was Rocket, and no he would not openly admit to being Rocket- or well himself and a couple other recruiters. He was putting it out there enough coming out as he was. But from what they'd gathered, this guy would've been an easy mark.

Milo rolled his eyes. "I'm back here because my music career died. Don't act like I'm some small-fry."

Mint then pressed on. Milo was irked, but the promise of cash up-front made him bite his tongue. While his mood soured, he had to just keep his head down.

"I'm in."

Intern. Need to know. In either case, he smirked. He's played for keeps before. Milo slouched on the couch even more, neck on one footrest and ankles on the other. He 'unclenched', wanting to be flippant. To make it clear how little a threat meant to him.

“I've done more for less. You have yourself a deal, if you keep it to yourself when I show up with new clothes, or a new motorcycle.”
