For many families, it is tradition that their children are sent upon what is called a "Pokemon journey". An adventure of utter independence, where they are free to grow, to choose their own path, to form bonds and make rivals. It is a learning experience unlike any other. Some will do great things, while others will simply fail. Either way, when they return back home, they are better than when they had left.[break][break]

The Lovelaces, of the Lovelace Holdings group, are strict adherents to this tradition. Every heir to the family name is sent on their journey to prepare them for their purposes, to give them the experience they need to evolve into businessmen and spokesmen and scientists and engineers. One might consider it akin to the path of an ancient warrior-poet, expected to be skilled in both war and in politics. In much the same way, through this journey, children are raised to be both powerful trainers and measured entrepeneurs, ready to add their talents to Lovelace Holdings in one way or another.[break][break]

Liliana never much cared for this tradition. Why would she ever want to leave her big, spacious, luxurious home to go rough it in the woods? No, she was content to stay where she was, in her room, with her computer. There was no reason to leave.[break][break]

When she turned ten, expectant eyes turned to look at her. When she was thirteen, they started to try and coax her out into the great wide world with promises of a better, brighter future for her. For her sixteenth birthday, she was given a Metang for her birthday, and all her relatives could talk about was how stellar an Ace pokemon it would make for her journey. But each and every time the subject came up, she simply shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. She had no interest in any of that.[break][break]

Then, on the turn of her eighteenth birthday, she was kicked out. Her family had finally run out of patience for their parasite of a daughter, and they wouldn't take no for an answer. Like it or not, she would go on a Pokemon journey, and she would come back a better woman than she had before.[break][break]
