"eighteen is a good number." kara thought out loud to herself, aware that there were eighteen new lives under her - well, mostly gwylim's - care. being more or less the janitor of the velvet room, she had little say in much of anything but she liked it that way. while her work was tough, it kept her busy and she didn't have to put much thought into it. [break]
such could not be said for hanging around the very man she had basically been assigned to work with.[break]
it made sense to be paired with gwylim, really. while their focuses varied in terms of what they brought to the velvet room, he was the only one she really had much of a connection with. being busy kept her from being social ... for better or for worse.[break]
spitting out the stalk of wheat she was chewing on idly, she picked up the fuecoco she had been trying to incorporate into her main team since capture. it ran around happily, circling kara multiple times before giving her legs a big hug. it seemed happy with the attention it was getting - babied and cared for with an abundance of food. it was something the two had bonded over - their almost bottomless stomachs.[break]
picking up the baby pokemon and putting it on her upper back, she held it like a child being given a piggyback ride. two heads looked at gwylim - one stacked on the other.[break]
"lorelei said we have some time before we finalize things for th'base or whatever. thought we could talk it out or whatever while we ... er ..." flashes of the otome game she played not too long ago came to mind and suddenly she fell shy and quiet, rubbing her fuecoco with both hands for comfort. the baby pepper simply cooed happily. "er ... it's not like it's a date or something but uh ... er ... unless you want it to be, i mean -- uh, just thought we could find some cool pokemon or whatever." very cool, kara.[break]
