"hm."

he could see the appeal of this place, and as if adopting the local customs, river lethargically nods at a nearby fisherman. he had the charisma of a droopy tatsugiri, but, he was trying.

no one could deny him that.

[attr="class","wownewmain"]peace was.. such a rare thing in this world. even more so amidst the on-going conflicts between team rocket and the pokemon league.

so, where he can find it - like now - river embraces it.

with a small, content smile, he reaches into his pocket for the stash of candy he'd been saving.

..only to find it missing.

river looks down, a blank stare meeting an empty palm. river pats his coat, and again, he finds nothing. only then does he turn around and spot the thievul already ninety-percent down the pier.

he stares after the dark-type for a moment.

then he's yelling.

"you son of a bit-"

what remains is blotted out by an explosive yell as a nearby fisherman lands his prize.

...there went river's peace.

river sinks to the edge of the pier, feet dangling mere inches from the water's surface. without his sweets, life didn't feel worth living.

a pair of eyes, and a hooked beak, poke themselves through the lapping waves. river feels a pressure in his mind as his eyes widen, and the urge to fall.

to sink. to submit. to drown. to-
[break][break]
he's pulled from the lull as a white, blubbered creature holds the squid in its maw. it wags its tail, splashing water everywhere, eager for praise.

"huh. not bad. not bad at all."

he encapsulates the squid in a ball, and decides he preferred a nice day inside.[break]
