Everything happened so fast.
Two rapid fire blows hit Colton in the stomach, before he was tackled into the hard, stone ground. He could feel the heat of the Iron Moth's Overheat pouring around the rock, far stronger than any previous Fire attack it had unleashed that night. Sweat immediately formed on his brow and his vision blurred as it dripped into his eyes. But the discomfort of the air didn't register with him.
It was too hot, far too hot for anything that couldn't resist it to handle.
The Gligar was silent. The only sound came from Iron Moth floating back over to Colton, looking down at its trainer, almost as if to say "Threat eliminated." Colton couldn't break his gaze away from the Pokémon until the sound of a Pokéball breaking brought his attention back towards the Rocket. He couldn't answer Mint's question, the words caught in his throat. It was only the Baxcalibur appearing and pushing them away with an Earthquake that Colton finally did move, scrambling to his feet and running off into the cave, Iron Moth gently floating behind him.
That was the second Pokémon he had killed tonight, by letting things go too far. But this one was different. Iron Moth, without any orders, had gone out of its way to kill Gligar. To eliminate the threat. Whatever had been done to create it, something had been taken from it during the process. A sense of control, a sense of morals and ethics, that would keep things from crossing that threshold.
But, that threshold had already been crossed. And Colton wasn't sure if he could take the Iron Moth, and by extension, himself, back tot eh other side.
