Just how fucked up was he going to get in this fucking mess?!

“Ow, ow, what the fuck,” he hissed painfully as he realized that from the last few battles, he was very lucky to get away with his goddamned fucking life because all things considered—he was, by all technicalities—a loose cannon right now.

He also had no idea that he was headed right into another embankment of the pink mist… ugh, seriously? Why was this shit everywhere?!

When was this day going to end…

Aggron walked ever onward pink swirls of mist obscuring its vision, and perhaps its mind.

The sound of human footsteps nearby, a familiar scent followed soon after.

But that could not be. Surely it was only the mist playing pranks on him to fuel paranoia.

And it would be partially correct, though neither the smell nor the footsteps would be a part of it. But the faint echo of Elinor's voice saying "Help me" from seemingly everywhere and nowhere at the same time certainly was.

Aggron began to beg and plead in its rough metallic growls, begging for the mist to stop, and pleading for the capture of its trainer to only be a nightmare that it would wake from.

There was no way he was going to be able to walk any longer, so with a quick motion he dug through his pockets and pulled out the ol’ reliable Heavy Ball, popping it open and watching as Ro the Metagross emerged, alarmed at the sight of the pink mist.

“I… know,” he breathed out, just throwing his entire body on the smooth, flat, cold surface of the hulking silver beast. “But I’m so damned tired…”

The cold metal offered him little relief, only because it was soothing. His entire body was aching, and he was also doing his best not to inhale the damned mist—

And this was where the Metagross got an idea. Once he was sure that Lars was at least mostly on his ‘head’, the dual-type then conjured up a ‘barrier’ of Psychic around them; the better for them to traverse through the place without inhaling this damned shit.

(Hey, this worked underwater. All the Metagross needed to do was to make sure that the orb was secure.)

“N-nice,” he continued as he saw the shimmering waver of energy surround them as they then proceeded to move forward through the area.

Would they be able to find something—or someone—in this place?

The mist did not grant the Metal Behemoth even a moment's respite. The voice grew crueler, reminding it of the failure it was.

Aggron didn’t know how long it walked, how much of the mist it breathed. But each step quickly grew heavier than what it could move.

Soon the Aggron gave in, lying down on the cold rocky ground in the fetal position as it sobbed, and cried its heart out. Mourning what was sure to be a loss for it, for it had heard many stories of Team Rocket and their evil from Elinor.

It barely registered that something or someone was coming closer.

Thankfully, the Psychic ‘protective bubble’ was mostly effective at dispersing the pink mist away from their slow, cumbersome approach.

However, it didn’t stop Lars from reaching behind his ears and scratching at them. First slowly, then painfully, before realizing that there was something forming at the base of his ears, like…

“This is so fucked up…” he groaned as he moved a little, the better to make sure his legs weren’t dangling off the Metagross’s back as he realized that the realm’s mutations were starting to take ahold of him too.

“Heh… reminds me of… my sea self…” he continued as he realized his right hand was starting to look more… webby than it had earlier. Maybe that was also causing the ‘painful sensation’ he could feel at the base of his ears, too?

“Ro… found anything?” he asked a few moments later once he’d managed to get a few more minutes’ rest.

The silver Metagross then heard something—a low rumbling, and then began moving towards the source of the noise.

“What, did you—did you find her?!” he gasped, sitting up and immediately regretting it because of the aches and pains his body was now only belatedly registering.

Like salty spring-water, did Aggron’s tears flow freely. It’s ugly crying growing stronger and stronger ever urged on by the Realm.

Then a presence became apparent to it. It looked up, quickly trying to hide away tears and snot with a few quick wipes of its metallic arm.

The Metagross that appeared looked familiar. But sure this was just another illusion formed by the mist.

“What? What is it?”

As the slow approach continued, the hulking shape of something on the ground became clearer. The Metagross had to renew the ‘barrier’ of Psychic energy as the shape on the ground became clear…

“Gron?!” he yelled, before wincing because ouch, even his own throat fucking hurt.

“Ro, m-move closer!” he urged the silver beast, and while he was still mostly splat on the Metagross’s back, the slow-moving bubble inched closer, closer… ridiculously closer until one of the Pokémon’s hulking legs literally poked one of the Aggron’s plate scales.

“Get up, hurry!”

It hadn’t been an illusion. The hulking legs poked his plate scales. The trainer atop urged him up.

Aggron quelled its tears as quickly as it could while pushing itself off from the ground and onto the Metagross, for a short moment wondering if it was alright for the Metagross to carry its weight.

But the happiness in seeing Lars, seeing a familiar face that was sure to be able to help, overwhelmed it. It quickly tried to latch onto the young man, with a hug carrying such force that his ribs would surely be signing in their two weeks notice.

It didn’t take too long for the eventual approach to actually make the Aggron get up—and before he could even do so much as blink, he was practically lifted up and off the Metagross’s ‘head’ and embraced in a bone-crushing hug—

“Oof!” he gasped, and the Metagross made an irritated sort of noise, expanding the protective ‘field’ around them before growling in warning at the Aggron to be fucking careful because Lars had quite literally been through the goddamned wringer!

“Can’t… breathe…” he continued weakly. While he did appreciate the show of affection from the Aggron, fact of the matter he was getting squished…
