It drew from a Pokemon's own strength, most of the time fatiguing them to strengthen their strikes and defenses. Yet, exclusively when used by Ghost types, it instead drained their very life force to hurt the enemy in new and horrifying ways.[break][break]

Worse, still, was where its curse lingered. Her arms, even as Elinor scratched at them hard enough to bleed profusely, were one thing. But the phantom pains that pulsed through his head at the mere idea of her eye trauma . . . Isaac shuddered just thinking about it. He wouldn't wish that upon his worst enemy.[break][break]

Was Elinor supposed to be that? It didn't feel that way anymore.[break][break]

Isaac looked at her. He looked down at his hands. And then, with a sigh, he reached up to slip his eyepatch off of his face.[break][break]

"It'll be even worse for us if you scratch that out," Isaac said, turning away as he held the eyepatch out towards Elinor. Was he averting his gaze so he didn't have to look her in the eye? Or was he doing so to spare her the sight of the grotesque scar that stretched across his face? "Take it. It'll help."[break][break]

The slightest hint of a teasing grin stretched across his face. " 'Sides. Maybe now you can look half as cool as me."

Elinor noticed Isaac’s sudden aversion to her gaze as he offered her an eyepatch. A kind gesture, if perhaps futile. But perhaps the fabric would ease the itching sensation that loomed there, waiting for the right time for Elinor’s arms to do no more.

She accepted his offer and took the eyepatch. A small chuckle escaping her as Isaac joked. Had Isaac’s incomprehensible ability to soothe the mind begun to take hold? Elinor didn’t know.

“Half as?” Elinor repeated. “How about twice as.” She found the strength to jest back. Rocket hadn’t defeated her just yet. She had to keep going for all those that awaited her escape.

"Tell ya what," he said, turning to properly face her now. Even hidden beneath the mask that he slipped the eyepatch out from under, bits of scar would be all too visible. "You hang in there long enough to see me again. And then you can put your money where your mouth is. Deal?"[break][break]

Sometimes, all it took was a challenge.[break][break]

He couldn't linger too long. If he got too chummy with a prisoner, both he and they would have to pay for it. " 'Til then, councilwoman," he said, walking away and tossing a casual wave over his shoulder.
