Personality:[break]
Socially awkward is the best way to describe Axel. He can go on an on about things that interest him going on tangents. He’s the type to sprout random facts about things he’s read. He especially likes doing this when someone says something that pertains to what he has read. There’s just a part of him that must let people know he knows about the topic that’s being discussed.

Due to his social awkwardness he also tends to miss social cues like unintentionally changing a subject without realizing it. He has gotten better at realizing some social cues though like if someone is just joking or is being sarcastic. Despite missing social cues he is surprisingly good at knowing when someone is lying and is observant enough to notice when certain relationships between people changes.

He might also have some minor OCD. Not anything that really stands out. The most he does is have to have things a certain way. If he goes to a store and sees something out of place he’s compelled to put it back where it belongs. He just doesn’t like seeing things out of place.

Despite his social awkwardness and his quirks one of his best traits is his determination. He will fight tooth and nail if he has too to accomplish his dreams. The type to try again and again if he fails. The type to never give up.

One of his worse traits despite being intelligent is his rashness. He doesn’t always think things through leading to some sticky situations. He doesn’t always think of the consequences of his actions. He won’t do anything bad. But his rashness coupled with a hard working attitude often leads to him pushing past his limitations especially if it means going on an adventure to find more Pokémon.

History: [break]
Axel was born three months early after his mother went into early labor after falling down some stairs. Due to being born so early he was born with underdeveloped lungs. He had to stay in the hospital for awhile before he was allowed to return home. He grew up in Malie City, Alola along with his parents and two adoptive older siblings. His parents wanting to reach out and help those in need had decided to first adopt two siblings before trying to have their own, which is why he was their only biological child and would be their last since the doctors had told his mother that due to the fall down the stairs she would be unable to have anymore children.

It didn’t long to realize that due to his underdeveloped lungs he struggled with breathing. He couldn’t be as active as the other kids and often had to take breaks to catch his breath. Then there were the times when he would cough up blood if he pushed himself to hard or had a bad enough episode. Inhalers didn’t work though and the first time he used one he had some kind of allergic reaction. In the end his parents had to get a special herbal remedy made to help with his condition.

Worried for his health his mother decided to work from home so she could homeschool him while his dad continued his research on Pokémon in his lab. His parents didn’t want to risk something setting off his fragile health. And were concerned he would have an episode while playing so it was just best to keep him isolated and home-school him. That’s what they told themselves anyway.

While homeschooling him it didn’t take long for his mother to realize he was intelligent. Picking up things quickly and able to remember something he had read once. Able to easily recite a book he had read word for word. She struggled to keep up with him so eventually it was decided that he would just take online classes and she would still stay at home and keep an eye on him.

It wasn’t long before he grew bored though. His lessons were easy and he didn’t see the point of working on something so easy. His parents were able to pull some strings for him to do some advanced classes but he still wasn’t contend. He wanted to complete the island challenge or at least be out there catching Pokemon. He wanted to be know what it was like to be a normal kid. He wanted to be able to be like his older siblings who got to do all that.

Finally when he was ten his chance came. His oldest sibling who had just turned eighteen was going to Hoenn. He begged his parents to allow him to go as well. His sibling already having agreed helped him to convince their parents. After a few days his parents relented and he was on his way to Hoenn.

The first thing he did was convince his brother to teach him how to catch Pokémon. The first Pokémon he got was a weird looking Zorua. He didn’t even have to try hard to catch him. When him and his sibling first went out the Zorua was being attacked by a few other wild Pokémon. His sibling immediately sent out his own Pokémon. While his brother took care of the other Pokémon he tended to the Zorua’s injuries. After that the Zorua wouldn’t leave them alone following them as they tried to find Pokémon to catch. Eventually it was decided Axel would take him in as his own Pokémon.

Two years ago he added an igglybuff to his party and around that time his Zorua evolved into Zoroark. His Igglybuff has also long since evolved into a Jigglypuff and he caught his Glameow around a year ago. He’s thinking of evolving Jigglypuff soon but is contend with his Jigglypuff at the moment.

Though he can’t remember it that well due to events from Goodbye Galor he has decided to pursue a career as a ranger. This is all due to feeling that he should do more for Hoenn though he’s unsure where these feelings has come from. Though he has had these feelings for awhile self doubt has kept him from pursuing a career as a ranger until now. Despite the fact he has decided to become a ranger that doesn’t mean has given up his dream of becoming a Champion. He still plans on going through the gym circuit and becoming champion.
