CONTRARY TO ITS NAME, THE MAJORITY OF THE ULTRA DEEP SEA IS A VAST CAVE-LIKE WORLD. Shafts of light from an unknown source barely penetrate the dark, causing colorful diamond-like rocks to glisten against humid walls. The dim lighting makes the place seem like you're thousands of leagues under the sea... Eerily, an unceasing pulse can be heard like a heart beat that rumbles throughout the realm.[break][break]

Oddly enough, one is able to "swim" through this realm like Water-type Pokemon floating in air.[break][break]

One may stumble upon deep, cold pools of dark water and alien seaweed as they scout out the realm. Segments of this place open up into an astral sea, where islands of mysterious stone are suspended mid-air.

too soon, she returns here. too soon, she returns to this place. but signing up for an expedition team had been a way to circumvent the league's restrictions on who may enter or exit this realm. she promised Greyson Connors she would help him search. and so here she is, feeling that tugging in her chest. that squeezing in her heart, nagging in her brain.

she would have ended up here regardless. she hasn't been able to rid herself of this call.

"it's not safe," she says flatly, answering for danny. her baxcalibur trudges behind them. she'd earned its respect during their excursions down here. though she doesn't trust it as she does some of her other dragons, it has at least interacted with the dream mist before.

"we're going deep this time. no turning back. so stay on your toes."

at freya morningstar 's blunt reply, callie bristles. she opens her mouth to bite something back, but it's DANNY HALL who responds.

[break][break] "okay, fine, you did say that." because, technically, he had. but it still didn't erase the feelings that this place brought. at least it would make a good report for paxton concordas .

[break][break] she lets out a sudden, surprised laugh. "and don't say larp so confidently."

[break][break] he was so stupid.

[break][break] turning back to freya morningstar , she nods accordingly, hand on the hilt of her gun. "got it, boss." because, the leader of the group certainly wasn't DANNY HALL and it wasn't her.

[break][break] as they venture deeper, there are suddenly floating bubbles that drift in the sky ahead of them. the light swirls inside of them, casting their toxic-purple hue a shimmering violet.

callie is a variable she's not sure they can afford, but she might turn out to be exactly what they need. the last two times she and danny have run excursions down here, even with their two other partners, they've lacked the coordination to stay. each time, they'd slunk away with their tails between their legs, scarred and weathered by the sea.

her baxcalibur does not react kindly to the field they come upon. ferns wave about as violet bubbles float lazily through the deep sea's currents. his repulsion gives freya pause.

they could go around. the abandoned ship is to their west, if her geography's right, but they'd intended on giving that a wide berth too. to the east, then? through the broken, floating isles?

her skin prickles. pale gold flickers over to her baxcalibur, but the dragon hasn't stopped its restless pacing. no, she thinks. we can pass through this.

"they're moving slowly. as long as we're careful, we'll be able to make it to the other end." she draws her bow and withdraws her dragon; his lumbering shape isn't delicate enough not to disturb whatever those things are.

their banter is miles away. something has coiled itself around her midsection - a tense, incessant feeling that she must go deeper. there is something waiting for her, in those depths. visions of a draconic hoard, squirming over each other, toxic purple scales melting and shifting and bubbling into something new.

she has traversed half the field at this point. the bubbles are stagnant. that is, until a huge purple form flies overhead. the naganadel either does not see them or does not care, but its wingbeats make the toxin field come alive with movement.

they must abandon care.

"hurry!" she calls, snapping into focus as she nocks an arrow. one flies past callie's head, puncturing the bubble flitting dangerously close to her side. she twists, lining up a shot to pierce through several at once. the poison sizzles as it hits the ground.

"this way." she keeps the impromptu path clear and watches their backs as they go.

he whips around and the momentum of which sends a POIPOLE flying out. it whizzes around danny, circling him curiously as it giggles.[break][break]

[break][break] something pops skyward, and callie flinches, leaping back against DANNY HALL when she realizes what it is. she manages to avoid the poisonous spray, if only just barely — but freya morningstar is already barreling ahead into the fray.

[break][break] where as the dragonhunter takes to her bow, callie takes to her pistol. imagining they are targets during training practice, she pops several bubbles that are ahead of freya and their pack, poison splashing down onto the floor.

[break][break] "wha..?" she turns only so briefly at DANNY HALL's mention when they are at the end of the impromptu path, finding a strange beast floating atop head head. it was kind of... cute.

[break][break] before she can make commentary on it, her eyes are drawn to DANNY HALL's feet. something slithers beneath the boy's sneakers, looking like the horrific forms of...

[break][break] "danny!" she reaches for his arm, trying to drag him and his new friend out of the clutch of eggs that he'd unknowingly stepped into.

they make it to the other side. and they are on the edge. there is an abyss below them and it is endless and it is fervently calling her name. it is guiding her steps, pulling her by the waist. hands out, fingers trailing, answering a call she has yearned for for years.

there are sounds from others that don't belong and she turns, eyes clearing. shakily, she nocks an arrow and sweeps her gaze over the bluffs. there is a fluctuation of movement - crackling, ripping, tearing. mewling cries shatter the rest of the sea's hold on her and she lifts her gaze.

an angry swarm approaches from above. she takes one shot and the arrowhead glances off hard purple scales. another shunk and this time the arrow releases a burst of electricity, paralyzing one of the several poisonous dragons descending on them from above.

"there's nothing further," she calls. there's everything down there, freya. she grits her teeth. "we have to move before we're swarmed."
