the lavender haze sifts through the bars toward her, but the panic flooding her system makes it impossible to control the way her chest heaves with each little gasp of air. manipulated by THEO BECKETT 's bayleef, the poison powder comes perilously close, then stops.

she goes through her mind in a whirlwind, trying to think of something to make the cloud recede. amidst racing thoughts and mounting fear that she has no use, she reaches for anything her fingers can close around. [break][break]

her eyes widen as the words mingle with the toxins in the air between them. as her integrity crumbles beneath the weight of her fear. [break][break]

annalise screams as the cloud envelopes her, speckling her skin with poison. she looks down and swipes her palm across her arm feverishly, but the patches of purple only seem to grow as the poison powder leaches into her system. [break][break]she tries to stumble out of the cloud, bracing a hand against the cell wall to support the sudden unsteadiness of her steps. the room spins around her, demanding she lay down and orient herself, but she can't — she's too afraid that she won't ever get back up again if she does.

the aromatherapy hits her nose. it soothes her, grounds the flightiness of her panic. she looks down at her arms and, bewildered, watches the purple splotches begin to recede.

then she looks up, at THEO BECKETT , but her eyes are glassy and unfocused. the order is so disarmingly mundane that it doesn't quite register at first.

"what?" her lips begin to form around the question, but no sound comes out. after a few moments, his words finally settle over her. there's no trick — at least, no trick that she can glean yet — just a rocket prying a little deeper for her personal information.

her eyes sweep the cell as though she's looking for facts about herself in its dingy corners. [break][break]
