"Did you manage to see anything strange in the Ultra Deep Sea?" he asked out loud as his boots dug through deep layers of snow waiting to hear the familiar thud of boots on ice. [break][break]

His pack pulled high and tight on his back as he made his way to the center of the GLACIATE attack. The ice had reached surprisingly far given the size of the beast. It was probably the hardest to pull ice chips form, but he already had samples from the outer edges. Time to see if anything reads differently closer to the source. It made sense and it didn't. "Our top scientists coined them Paradox Pokemon. Seems like the phrase has spread from the League too." he added. Though, charging ahead already was his Iron Bundle. The robo Delibird that would run back and forth to scout before returning to chirp at Mint and his partner. "I wanna test how strong they are, pass up results to Nomi if they're interesting. And I get my ice. Double win, right?"

the fluttermane is rearing to go. [break][break]

the trainer, sadly, is not. [break][break]

ice would be cold; who knew? not her, not when she was struggling to keep herself nice and warm. lord, she never really liked the slightly colder winters of kalos in the first place - but the icy chills are on a whole other level. if it were up to her, she'd roll herself up in a nice, warm blanket and enjoy some hot cocoa. [break][break]

it's why she doesn't bother with the young man's question. [break][break]

or her ears are finally freezing over - one or the other. [break][break]

"s-sounds.. real nice~.." she tries, really. tries to strain glee despite the frigid temperatures - though her paradox pokemon is doing just fine. she'll admit, though, she'll squint slightly skeptically at the suggestion. [break][break]

"at the ice, right?" she asks, with a smile at first.

Mint nodded, glancing over at their companion for the day. "Yeah. Although I supposed this place is isolated enough for an all out bout." he stopped, thought about it before shrugging. "Naw, I', more interested in collecting the samples." he said with a laugh as he continued to lead her. They'd long since passed the ice sculpture cemetery and the little flag post he'd left behind his own pokemon's grave to track snow melt. [break][break]

His foot steps are quick despite the deep feet of snow. And one could hear the muffled thump of his boots on thick ice. The steps seemed to thunk a little deeper the closer they got to their destination. Really, the only way Mint knew they were close before getting out his GPS. [break][break]

He'd been out more than enough time to be used to the cold, and being an ice specialist only added to his durability. But perhaps others weren't so lucky. "Did you bring anything to warm up?" he asked, giving her the chance to perhaps remember something.

well, that makes things much easier. [break][break]

she'll grow used to the cold, no matter how her complaints will ring. her eyes pass the flag that marks the ice cemetery and, though she isn't one for being respectful in general, she knows better than to cause a fuss when they pass by a resting spot. think of it as that last bit of her that holds a sliver of respect for others. [break][break]

maria tries to keep up the pace, and she's grateful at least one of them came in prepared, and is more used to the cold. her fluttermane is large enough for her locks of hair(?) to lead a way, and she's grateful that it isn't snow storming. [break][break]

he asks something, and she has to pause to remember. asides from what she was wearing already - a scarf, warm jacket, warm boots and gloves - she doesn't have anything else. perhaps she was just being dramatic. [break][break]

"i'll be fine." she sighs, reluctantly still. her eyes glaze over the glass, and the distorted reflections of herself as they pass. "but are we almost there?" [break][break]

she'll bring out her litten to warm her up, later.

"Almost~" he said in a sing song voice as they shuffled forward, cutting a path across, thankfully, immobile dunes. No harsh blizzard winds like he'd heard tell once night fell. His Iron Bundle bounds forward before coming back a feet feet and chirping electronically .It points at a little stick with a flag left on it. About where Mint had guesstimate was the center of the attack, and where the thickest ice had to be if they could drill a hole and measure how thick the ice was... [break][break]

But he tries not to get ahead of himself. Even last time, the samples they'd gotten had been nearly invisible. He lets out his Slither Wing, Carbonara. The fluffy 7 ft tall bug moves in close to Mint on instinct. "Carbonara I'm going to need a wide area for us try digging." he asked the bug type offered a SUNNY DAY from above before releasing a powered up FLAME CHARGE and beginning to melt the huge piles of snow in a circular area for use. "That should warm you up, hopefully." he added looking over at Maria as rivulets of ice melt flowers away from Carbonara, the snow seemingly retreating. [break][break]

"When she's done, where' gonna try to hit the ice until it shatters." [break][break]

aw, how considerate of him. [break][break]

it'd be cute, if she could properly focus. thankfully, the rays of SUNNY DAY helps to warm her skin. the FLUTTERMANE clearly appreciates it, as well, as the PROTOSYNTHESIS activates a content pokemon who basks in the sun. "thank you~" she manages to chime, watching as the flames come from such a primal volcarona. [break][break]

even when she knows it's prehistoric, it's still odd to see the winged beast on all fours. [break][break]

in the meantime, she glances around, watching as the snow and ice is easily melted. that just.. tells her that none of this is the ice that they're looking for. a legendary pokemon's ice wouldn't be so easily melted. [break][break]

"that sounds easy enough." maria hums, looking to the misdreavus who stays suspended in the air. they're letting out an excited cry, though the trainer chuckles in response. "just give the word, menthe. petunia is rearing to go~." [break][break]

Carbonara manages a decently sized cleared patch of ice. It takes a while and a few attacks before the glass like surface glistens under the powerful sun. Carbonara jumps away landing with a soft POOF on a snow hill, still managing to overlook the ice. [break][break]

Mint gestures while he explains their purpose there. "This is the center point, or very near the center point of where Kyurem's GLACIATE blast landed. We've been unsuccessful thus far in getting samples of it. It doesn't melt. However, last time I came out here with Hitoshi Inoue I managed to gather a few splinters. Hopefully this time we'll have something else to show for our efforts." he said before giving Maria the go ahead with her pokemon.

she's heard about kyurem. [break][break]

and thank god she's never actually run into the god damn dragon. if she was the one to face it back when it first appeared, she probably would have hightailed out of there. hell no. hoenn's had to deal with way too many mythical pokemon, and maria wasn't about to be one of the poor people caught in the crossfire - but since she's in rocket, she probably has no choice. [break][break]

ah, she shouldn't have come to hoenn. [break][break]

so she gazes at the ice, humming softly with a "wooow.. that.." she narrows her eyes, softly kicking at the clear surface "is way too much ice."[break][break]

there's a scoff in her words, somewhere, but it's more in amusement as the larger, primal misdreavous flutters around the glistening ice. when the trainer waves her hand, the misdreavous composes a SHADOW BALL from its lips, launching what should have been something moderately powerful right into the ice that juts out. the FLUTTERMANE's strength is enough to create cracks, and the pokemon isn't content. [break][break]

so they keep blasting SHADOW BALL at it.

Mint nodded. "They call is NEVERMELT ice but it's hard to acquire...for obvious reasons. Nothing really seems to phase it." he said as Carbonara waited on stand by. Mint took out a pair of glasses, tapping the frame before beginning to record Maria's progress with the Fluttermane. The sun shown brightly above them and in between SHADOWBALL attacks, he gestures at his Slither Wing to slam down a FIREBLAST to help weaken the ice. [break][break]

It's doesn't really budge. It's taking hits, sure, but it's not disappearing. The intense heat doesn't visibly melt it and the SHADOWBALLS create little stress fractures that widen slowly once hit with their combined attacks. [break][break]

He just lets the two pokemon continue as he pulled out his sample vials to begin harvest, if he could find anything worth harvesting. Carbonara backs off and he gestures to Maria to call her partner back. "Let's check." he said with a pair of forceps, clicking it comically at his helper. The Slither Wing moved closer to her to provide more heat while Mint toyed in the uncovered patch of grass. It's slow, tedious work, but he managed to find a first splinter after a couple of minutes. [break][break]

He crouches down, meticulous as he checks for every possible crack for NEVERMELT ice. Eventually, he comes away with a handful of them, clinking delicately together inside his sample bottle. Though, to anyone else, that result would've been pitiful. Barely anything there. But to Mint, who'd been fighting the ice for weeks now with other Rocket's, it was progress. "Good job! This'll do nicely for today." he said as he shook the bottle at Maria. "Wanna see? They shine a little weird, in my opinion." he said before adding. [break][break]

"We can head back now. You can TELEPORT home, or we can get some hot cocoa, my treat." he offered as he handed off the samples so she could observe the fruits of her labor.
