Appearance: Opal has long wavy brown hair that falls to her thighs. Her hair usually stays down but is sometimes pulled back into a ponytail or pigtails. She has wide amethyst colored eyes that often make her seem younger than she actually is. Her hair frames a pretty heart shaped face and she has some nice cheekbones. She’s fairly pretty and has fair skin that has never seen a blemish. Most people wouldn’t realize this but she isn’t very tall. Her height only being 5’3”.

Opal was born in Orre along with her sister Ruby. Orre was known for its crime but Opal herself was never interested in such pursuits. Perhaps it was because she was born blind that she was a gentle soul, not cut out for a life of crime. Or maybe even if she hadn’t been born blind she would have a gentle disposition.

Her own parents took part in criminal activity. And she was smart enough to realize when Ruby started following in their footsteps. She didn’t like it. But she could understand that it was hard not to follow the example one’s parents are setting. After all a parent is suppose to be a role model to their children.

When they moved away from Orre she was relieved. To her it was like a breath of fresh air. She hoped for a fresh start. That her family would take this as an opportunity to turn their lives around. Get away from the life of crime before something bad happened.

Moving to Verdanturf was a blessing in disguise. It seemed her parents really were willing to turn over a new leaf. And she knew her sister was trying as well even as she struggled. Her sister even went so far as to get into breeding service pokemon. Maybe to further help her by giving her more service pokemon or hoping to help other people with similar conditions out. She never asked her sisters reasoning though.

Everything was going well until team rocket invaded when she was thirteen. With them they brought death. Luckily the league was there to fight against them. Even when team rocket lost its leader in the attack she wasn’t daft enough to think it was over. No she figured that things would get worse before they got better. After all isn’t that how things usually work.

It was only a year later that she would be proven right. The ultra beast war was the worse thing to happen. Her father perished and she suffered a spinal injury that left her paralyzed from the waist down. And just for a moment she had felt hatred for the Pokémon that would rip her family apart. Before the grief swamped any hatred she had.

That hatred. She decided she never wanted to feel it again. That she would try to forgive and forget if she could. Her mother made it hard though. Due to her mother’s drinking her sister was saddled with taking care of her which was asking for a lot. After all at fourteen she wasn’t only blind but paralyzed from the waist down as well. And yet her sister never complained.

Time marches on. And she found herself becoming suspicious of her sister. Of the unexplained absences. Of the excuses she gives. It doesn’t take a genius to realize her sister has fallen back into bad habits. That she has aligned herself with bad people.

Only team rocket comes to mind when she thinks about who her sister would align herself with. She just hopes that Ruby knows what she’s doing. And that she doesn’t end up getting burned.
