Keira stretched, glad to be out of HQ for a bit. The early June sun was shining warmly, but not too warmly. The birds were chirping. The humidity was low. It was going to be one of those perfect days where being indoors felt like a waste.[break][break]
The base of Mt. Chimney wasn't exactly the most lush location for lounging, but despite the perfect weather, Keira wasn't there to relax. She turned to her companion for the day - and longtime fearless leader - Jack Magnus, and flashed him a playful grin.[break][break]
"I know you prefer Pokémon of the canine variety, Magnus, but rumor has it that Moltres was spotted here not long ago."[break][break]
Keira glanced up at the mountain's peak in the distance. The phoenix of legend wasn't really something Keira actually expected them to find, but it gave their little outing a thrilling air of mystery. And in any case, she liked to think that if such a creature did somehow notice her, she'd be able to impress it.[break][break]

Today was a pretty good day, honestly. Usually, days like today, Magnus would head to the streets, find him a little sugar, get some tail, head to the grocery store, find him a little sugar, get some tail, go out drinking, find him a little sugar, get some tail, and spend the night somewhere he's too drunk to remember where. The usual long and short of it, but today?[break][break]

Today was Kei day.[break][break]

Mt. Chimney, big as it is, was that much less with Magnus, but more so with Keira next to him. The woman he saw with more respect than perhaps any other.[break][break]

"Moltres, huh?" He rubs his chin, freshly shaved as he ponders how to take this information. On the one hand, yeah, he was a canine guy. But he begins to laugh. "So be it! If that bird comes our way, let's take it home." He'd never mesh well with a bird. Hell, @deimos had a better chance than he did. But if it was Keira?[break][break]

If Keira was their first Avatar?[break][break]

That'd make his day. @marshall would have a fire woman. Not that he doesn't already.[break][break]

Two pups begin to bark out happily from behind Magnus and Keira, having caught up. Two little Houndours; Halle and Berry. Both yip happily towards Magnus. Keira sees the softest side of Magnus.[break][break]

"One sec Kei, gotta help the pups."[break][break]

He takes a knee, something he never does for anyone. No woman ever made him take that knee before, but as he arches his back, both Houndours hop onto his shoulders, and yip with this glee, as Magnus now looked like a bonafide Cerberus with three heads.[break][break]

"Alright. Let's get moving then."

Keira shook her head as the two Houndour hopped up onto Magnus's massive shoulders, tongues lolling. "You look ridiculous," she told all three of them, but her expression was amused. Affectionate, even.[break][break]
Jack Magnus was unlike anyone Keira had ever met. He was simultaneously an unpredictable goofball and one of the fiercest gangsters in Hoenn. The man was overflowing with an undeniable charisma. Orthrus was growing rapidly, and the gang had Magnus's reputation to thank for that. Well, and Keira's business sense, of course. Behind every Jack Magnus there was always a Keira.[break][break]
"Let's head this way," she beckoned the nearly seven-foot-tall makeshift Cerberus to follow after her.[break][break]
Just as she began to hike up the base of the cliff, a squawking sound caught her attention. A wild Combusken burst out of the underbrush, obviously frazzled. It scurried forward only to skid to a sudden stop - kicking up a cloud of dirt and small stones - when it saw Magnus and his three "heads", shocked into silence. Keira took the opportunity to throw a Pokeball.[break][break]
"You three might be more effective than a Stun Spore," she laughed.

Halle and Berry both stared at Keira like two little puppies happy to hear from her. Yipping her direction, they both had their tongues out, and Magnus would ruffle their fur and scratch their ears.[break][break]

"Who me? Couldn't be. These two though, absolutely." A boisterous laugh, as both Houndours lick up his cheeks, and he just looks to be having the time of his life, as Keira seemed to find the way forward.[break][break]

Keira Torres. A woman he most certainly could not have truly made Orthrus without. His meeting with her thanks to Marshall had cemented the gang. Had he met her with Marshall, the gang might be Cerberus over Orthrus, but... this was fine too. If he trusted anyone to run the gang while he's gone, it was the old married couple.[break][break]

Barely a minute into the hike, a Combusken comes skidding to a halt, stunned in silence, as both Houndours licked their lips. They had a desire for chicken, and Magnus tilts his chin upwards in domination.[break][break]

When Keira got the chicken, however, and made the note they were potent like a stun spore, he's laughing again. "Oh, they're lookers alright." He turns to them, and they are yipping again. A little dejected they don't have fried chicken. They both begin to whine. "I'll buy you some on the way home little girls." He ruffles their fur again, both yipping happily as Magnus turns to Keira.[break][break]

He has to ask.[break][break]

"Moltres though...?" Wonder what that one was on her mind. Just close by? Or maybe there was something to it.

Keira smiled, amused - and somewhat touched - by how tender Magnus always was with his pups. She wondered if he brought the same care and devotion to his various flings and affairs. Briefly, she considered asking Jasmine Blair or Leilani Ka’uhane about it sometime...but then she realized that would probably entail way too many details she had absolutely zero desire to know. So. Better for it to remain a mystery, perhaps.[break][break]
They continued along the rocky path. As they gained elevation, the air became hotter and more humid. Keira idly wiped her brow with the back of her hand, stopping for a quick drink from the canteen she carried in her backpack.[break][break]
"Moltres, yes," she confirmed, glancing at the mountain peak. "You know I'm a realist, Magnus - so don't think I'm about to condone anything stupid! - but the idea of Orthrus gaining access to a legendary Pokémon appeals to me. The League government, as well as several Rocket higher ups - if the rumors are to be believed - have such assets. Why not us?"[break][break]
Orthrus was relatively minor compared to those larger factions, but that didn't deter Keira. She'd never let much of anything stand in her way.[break][break]
A fierce looking Poliwrath poked its head out from behind a rock. Keira threw a Pokeball, as if doing so might bait an even stronger Pokémon to appear and challenge her.

Halle and Berry give playful yips, as Magnus continues down the rocky path. Here, without any sexual tension, he could be more like how he usually was; a playful dog owner who just liked having a dog around, and a leader who tried his best to keep the family he had. He didn't see Keira that way, or at least, if he did he never showed it. Maybe it's respect towards @marshall, but he'd rather not start something like that.[break][break]

Magnus may be stupid, but he's not dumb.[break][break]

When she stops, he does the same, Halle and Berry let down from his shoulders, as they ran around and chased one another, yipping and yapping, as Magnus crosses his arms, he listens to his number three.[break][break]

The entire time, he nods, understanding how great it would be. The League has legends. Rocket has legends. Why not them? Why NOT them? That's a damn good point, and Magnus smirks ear-to-ear now. "Goddamn right, Kei. I like the way you think. Would make the League and Rocket notice us."[break][break]

But then the realism comes in.[break][break]

"Gotta be careful though. Moment they start seeing us as a threat, they'll both be gunning for us. Rocket did their best to liquify gangs into their own, and the League will be antagonistic, truly... in fact-"[break][break]

Now comes the fun.[break][break]

"-what we need to do is set ourselves up. And I need you to come with me, Kei. I want to meet a man by the name of FERNANDO SILPH. Think you can help set an appointment? I'll need to bring @marshall with me in speaking with a Rocket correspondent too."[break][break]

Magnus was thinking ahead. If they do get Moltres, they need to at least have a means to keep themselves afloat. He'll die before the red R sits on his jackets. And he will never listen to the League fully, but if he can get into the pockets of the League and Rocket both, if they can work the system?[break][break]

Orthrus could be around for a long, long time.[break][break]

With both Halle and Berry yipping louder, both of them notice a Gallade who was trying to slice at them both with FURY CUTTER. Instead of attacking him though, Magnus pulls out a Pokeball, and throws it with hefty force, aiming squarely at the Gallade. He's not usually one for catching non-dogs.[break][break]

"Thanks, girls. You did well."

FERNANDO SILPH? The name was definitely familiar. He was the CEO of Silph Co, some bigwig League council guy. She'd seen his face on television before. Even back in Unova, Silph Co. had been a household name.[break][break]
"Setting up an appointment with a man like that won't be easy, Magnus," Keira sighed. "I'll see what I can do, though."[break][break]
Perhaps she could pull a few strings; the underworld was full of solutions to difficult problems if you knew where and how to find them. And if there was one thing she'd learned from running an establishment like Olympus, it was that nobody - not even the politically elite (especially not the politically elite) - was immune to sex appeal. Men like Fernando Silph could be relied upon to seek the services of escorts and entertainers.[break][break]
"Be careful with Rocket," Keira warned. "I think they've noticed us."[break][break]
And not in a good way. Keira had made it her business to steal from Rocket for years, but she had been successful in part because she was quick and subtle, a pest too minor to be worth pursuing. As Orthrus grew, so did their reputation. If they were going to try and present themselves as an equal to Rocket, they damn well needed to be ready to prove it. Once Rocket decided not to ignore a problem, they did not stop until it had been thoroughly and completely snuffed out.[break][break]
"I'm going to try and get to some higher ground, see if I can spot any Moltres feathers," She told Magnus, taking out a Pokeball. Hades appeared and she hopped up onto his back, urging him to fly to a ridge above the path. As he touched down on the rocky outcropping, a snorting sound alerted Keira to another presence: an angry Turtonator who's nap had been rudely interrupted. Keira threw a Pokeball so Hades could land without issue.

"Trust me. I'm very aware." He knows the danger. Fernando Fuckin' Silph. Kingpin that he was, bigwig League council member. And quite possibly, one of the more dangerous people in the League itself. He wasn't about to recommend someone else though.[break][break]

You wanna run a business, you don't aim for the smaller players, you shoot for the stars. Wanna get your name out, you tussle with the biggest guy in the room. Typically that was Magnus. But he knew.[break][break]

Oh, he knew.[break][break]

"Have they now?" Rocket? Notice them? Now this was getting exciting. "Good shit. Means I don't have to announce myself like I did with that blue-haired chick (Summer Atreides) a few years back." He wasn't perturbed by Rocket noticing them. Not even a little, because Rocket doesn't scare him. Sure, a little anxiety doesn't hurt, but fearful? Not at all. He'd protect the pack. "Best we get on their good side before they got a chance to put us on their bad one."[break][break]

Keira was flying on Hades, and while it did mean that Magnus would need to climb a bit. Not a huge concern. He can, and- oh shit, that's a Magmortar.[break][break]

"... sup?"[break][break]

The Magmortar snorts embers out, beginning to walk away, as both Halle and Berry growl and yip. "Easy, girls. Big guy ain't hurtin' us." The Magmortar was busy just waltzing about. Left Magnus some time to just catch up.[break][break]

So he yells out. "Anything up there, Kei?"

With the Turtonator out of the way, Keira hopped off Hades's back, and walked over to the edge of the cliff. The view was incredible, and for a long moment, she simply stood there and took it in.[break][break]
Hoenn sprawled out before her, its landscape a varied mix of terrain. Her eyes followed the moving specs of vehicles on highways far below, feeling suddenly small in comparison to the vastness of their region - of their planet. From her vantage point, everything below seemed rather peaceful; were they all truly in some sort of supernatural danger? She thought of the local Mauville news reporting on the dangers of dream mist and paradox Pokémon. Last year, they'd nearly been annihilated by a giant meteor.[break][break]
It all felt rather surreal.[break][break]
Keira shrugged, rolling her shoulders, stretching out her arms. She wasn't the sort of woman to dwell on "what ifs" and possible doomsday scenarios. She was a practical, feet-solidly-planted-on-the-ground, get-shit-done sort. They were here to look for signs of Moltres, not dwell on that which felt outside of Keira's and Magnus's control.[break][break]
Whatever happened, Orthrus would endure it. She'd make sure of that.[break][break]
"Nothing up here!" She called back down to Magnus. She returned to Hades, ignoring a Mankey swinging its way past on vines that grew from cracks in the rock. Clever way to get around, really. She let it go.

Nothing huh? Moltres sure was a pain in the ass to find. But that's what the firebird probably wanted. Much as they wanted the Avatar, it would be lucky if they got to it first. But, with Keira so high up, Magnus looked up there. His smile is softer.[break][break]

Honestly? It's either her or @deimos. One of them would fit the mold. Considering her name used to be 'Crimson', it almost feels poetic to hold the red flame.[break][break]

On the other hand, Deimos was the Bird Guy. If everyone else in the pack was a dog, he was the one bird they adopted to their family. And even if he didn't bark, even if he didn't woof, he was still family. He was still a member. A person who fit the mold of what Orthrus, well, is.[break][break]

Huh.[break][break]

Halle and Berry had begun to push their heads against a poor little sappy Vulpix, who was shaking and shivering. Both dogs already loved the little guy, and with a very pleasant smile, he tosses the small Pokeball at the fox. "Good job, girls. Think we'll name him... Cortado." Both Houndours yip, and continue to prance. Magnus puts it away.[break][break]

And continues climbing.[break][break]

"You know. Moltres could really do us both a favor by just showing up already." Magnus calls out, as he pulls himself up another few edges, feeling small. "Could really use our bird whisperer about now." he jokes, something to maybe get Keira to laugh, or at least lighten the mood.[break][break]

"Not gettin' any younger... don't envy women either, back pain fuck'n sucks." Magnus chimed out, getting closer, as he rolled his arm around, trying to stretch.[break][break]

It, in fact, was not the tits.
