Each time he returned to the safari zone, the more it felt like a place of relaxation and solitude. Even when he was there for training purpose—today less so. While catching some of the creatures who popped out was definitely on his agenda, Lam was more intent on enjoying the quiet and sunshine. Relaxing against a tree lazily, he absently sketched his resting xatu in his personal sketchbook. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been able to go out and just make field sketches. These days, he found it far more enjoyable than the art gallery job he cared for less and less. It just wasn’t the same as being out in the world observing, was it?

The lime-feathered bird fluttered away from it, before a burst of psychic energy stunned the creature in place. Not wishing to cause more of a kerfuffle, Lam tossed a safari ball at it and went back to his sketch of a nearby tailow as his xatu darted up into a higher branch of the tree he sat against.

“You’re a cutie, arentcha??” he coos at the little rodent, then offers it some sunflower seeds. These ones are known for being notoriously hangry, right?

The morpeko chirps and squeaks, clearly interested in the sunflower seeds that are offered up. Any surly behavior is instantly quelled as he munches on the treat…until it runs out. The color of the lil rodent’s fur starts to darken, leaving Lam to scramble for his bag in search of some berries he knows he put in a baggy.

So preoccupied with the little morpeko, he misses the shy chespin sneaking by.

Lam was content to sit there on his knees and watch the morpeko as it happily gobbled up the second snack he offered to it. Occasionally, he scratched it behind the ears, laughing as it completely ignored him in favor of the berries. It was all well and good, though until a stench spread through the area. “What is that?” he asked aloud to no one as he lifted the collar of his shirt to cover his nose.

The morpeko, having hopped to attention, only flinched a beat later—seemingly stunned by the raspberry colored puffs of smoke. His xatu, though, was still up in the tree and swooped down with a quick zen headbutt. She knocked over the the koffing that had been floating through, sending it Lam’s way. He quickly tossed a pokeball at it so that he could wave the stench away.

The koffing, intent on laying them out flat with its stench unfortunately didn’t last long once his xatu took care of things. Lam bundled up the annoyed morpeko in his arms as it chirped in frustration. Once the Pokémon was contained, his xatu flapped her wings to blow the bubblegum pink puffs of smoke away.

It seemed they weren’t the only ones caught up in the mess—when the smoke cleared, a lazy slowpoke was revealed, having been drawn out by the chaos. Figuring he might as well pack up, he tossed his remaining pokeball at the stunned loaf and gathered up the rest of his things.
