Melody had been assigned to handle a nihilego who was attempting to infiltrate their realm via the massive rift in granite cave. [break][break]

However the league also asked for the help of a local dragon expert. Miss freya morningstar . Melody walked towards the cave, her sygnasuit lighting up the area around her a she knew these threads would assist her in resisting the effects of the neurotoxin this thing creates. It sent chills down her spine, reminding her of the mental prison she had endured for a year. The only person who could understand her pain was dahlia goode , being trapped in your own body.

as someone who's been attempting to curry favor with the league, getting a call from one of the elite four's own had been too tantalizing an opportunity to pass up.

she descends on dragonback, dismounting lyune swiftly. the cave brings back haunting memories for her. the burnt over scar on her shoulder gives a twinge, reminding her of the near-death experience she'd had.

Elisabeth Fiorelli comes to mind too.

"miss melody miro," she says as she approaches. she, herself, only wears black trousers and a scaled cuirass. her boots crunch over gravel and the ultra deep sea murmurs a few dozen feet away.

Some people told me the nihilego is around here somewhere but I haven't seen it.." she says as her primarina rushes up besides her and the SYGNASUIT activates, brimming with energy as it creates a small shield around her and Freya as she expends some of the energy to the fellow trainer to protect her.

"i haven't," she says. with lyune back in his ball, she releases a new pokemon to her side. this one is more calm than she'd expected and smaller than that of its likeness within the rift itself. it floats gently around freya's side, rolling over itself.

the dragon tamer swallows and shrugs her shoulders. "i've only ever run into nihilego deep in there. are they starting to cross over from the rifts?"

"If the reports are true, then yes." she says with a sudden annoyance in her tone washing over her. [break][break]

"I hate those damn things." she comments as most of the public would be unaware of why she had such a grudge, maybe with time freya would come to learn why. She looks at the purple little creature, it seemed like Freya had spent more time in the deep sea than melody, she had seen them there but this one seemed more docile, baby like even. [break][break]

"Awww, it's cute." she says as Melody whips out her phone and takes a quick picture of it. However, in the background she notices something strange...a bulbous white...head? "Wait! There!" she shouts as her Primarina wastes no time and infuses her anger into the SPRINGTIDE STORM she unleashes and strikes behind the poipole.[break][break]

A nihilego had been waiting to strike at them.

freya is a little taken aback when melody pulls out her phone to snap a picture of the poipole. not that she minds, but, well, it's been quite a bit since she's been around such an extraverted personality. and it's seen as much by her casual aside, the awkwardness with which she moves her hands.

all of that goes away at melody's exclamation. freya is quick to turn on her heel, calling poipole to her side. it doesn't stand immediately to attention, but a couple of snaps gets its attention.

as melody and her primarina prepare, freya barks an order to the poipole. the dragon pulse blasts from its stinger on its head towards the jellyfish.

and here, freya slips into ease. that thin, forced smile cracks into something wild. untethered.

The springtide storm and the dragon pulse coalesce into a fused attack that batters the nihilego against the wall. [break][break]

It's bulbous white head jiggles unnaturally, conveying something akin to agitation as it spews out a TOXIC attack and Melody's quick to react and support freya. "Icy wind!" she orders as the ice barrages against the poison, freezing and neutralizing the attack as the frozen liquid shatters onto the floor. [break][break]

"All yours freya!" she says as Melody was more than willing to support the woman if she wanted to go buck wild. At least, that's what she thought freya wanted to do from her grin.

poison is frozen in midair. poipole dances in between the flurries, tail slicing through the icy storm. the nihilego is battered against the rock face by the force of the dragon pulse. when that light peters out, it's clearly exhausted, but freya does not relent.

she has seen the lengths ultra beasts can go.

"again, poipole." she gives a nod of acknowledgment to melody and poipole flips over itself. more light gathers, coalesces, and then shoots out in a beam at the nihilego's bell.

She watches as the poipole gracefully dances around the winter storm that Primarina conjures up. Not allowing it to hurt her ally, Freya was one hell of a trainer. [break][break]

The nihilego is batter and bruised by the attacks and seemingly starts to charge up a large attack that has Melody concerned as she looks to try and order her primarina to stop it before a blur of blue fur dashes in and strikes the nihilego with it's steel blade. [break][break]

"Cobalion?!" she shouts at it as the pokemon was too reliant on his STEEL TYPE immunity to protect him. He strikes it down in one hit, ending the battle swiftly as the blood and poison dripped down it's blade. [break][break]

Primarina immediately uses sparkling aria to wash it off of him. "Jesus christ you old fucking goat. please. Dont fucking DO SHIT LIKE THAT." she yells at him, what if he fucking got hurt? [break][break]

"Sorry about him..Cobalion this is freya, Freya this is my partner, Cobalion. He can be a bit...direct and rude. Don't mind him, he does it to everyone" she says as the stubborn goat eyes her up and down, his expression conveying one of smugness and attitude, a total opposite of melody's bubbly personality. [break][break]

The nihilego plops to the floor as it peels itself off of the wall, the mass withering and writhing in pain until it eventually perishs.
