It was hot. Making sleeping near impossible. Not that he god much of that any other season. As of right now he was going on three almost four days without sleep. He just wasn’t good when it came to the whole sleeping thing. Probably due to everything he had been through.

Sipping his coffee he huffed when he couldn’t get cool enough. He had a few fans blowing air on him but he was sure all it was doing was circulating hot air and blasting him with hot air. Scowling he finally flipped them off and headed out of the treehouse he called his home. Brushing a few strands of hair out of his eyes he looked around to see if anyone else was around.

Seeing no one around he relaxed. Now he could leave without garnering attention. Climbing down the ladder that led back to the ground he released Rook from his pokeball. If he couldn’t get cool here he would just go somewhere else. With how shaded the park was hrs decided to go there. The young man also knew there was a pond there. So they would be able to go for a swim to go there.

Getting on the Corviknight he flew him towards the entrance of the park before getting off. He got off because he had decided to walk the rest of the way. With Rook trailing after him he began to make his way to where he knew the pond was located. On the way he released Volt from his pokeball allowing the Zebstrika to walk alongside him and Rook.

Upon reaching his destination he stopped abruptly when he saw that someone was already there. So abruptly that Rook had to swerve to avoid colliding with him. The Corviknight’s wing still clipped his shoulder a bit but he didn’t seemed to notice. He instead just waved the two Pokémon off to swim before moving to sit down in the shade.

He sat stiffly his whole body tense. Meeting new people was always so hard. Being the way he was he just couldn’t help but be wary. ”Wasn't expecting to find anyone else here,” he said in a monotone voice.[break] @elliot

”Neither was I,” he said in response to the other males comment. Even though he had basically already said that he wasn’t expecting to run into anyone. Though considering he seemed to be half asleep perhaps he had missed his earlier comment. Though how he could be sleeping on a day like this even if in the shade wasn’t something he could understand.

To be honest the thought of going to the beach hadn’t even crossed his mind. He wasn’t a big fan of sand. Not to mention that there was wasn’t much shade on the beach. And beaches were the number one spot to go to during the summer. Which meant it would be crowded. And crowds was something he tried to avoid.

The only thing he did to show he had heard was to nod to what he had said. Luckily the subject moved on to introductions. ”Pleasure to make your acquaintance, my name’s Ever,” he told the older male. He was still wary of him but so far he hadn’t given him any reason to have a problem with him. So he had meant what he had said.

His own gaze drifted to the lake. Volt was frolicking in the shallows while Rook seemed content to dive into the water before flying back up sending a spray of water up each time. ”Rook be considerate of the other Pokémon,” he called out. His attention only turning away when he saw something from his peripheral vision.

Looking towards the older male he saw that an eevee was rubbing against him. Since it was doing that he figured the eevee was one of his Pokémon. His thoughts were confirmed when the older male talked about his Pokémon liking him. His expression momentarily softened before becoming neutral once more. ”Eevee are such cute Pokémon,” he said looking away. Saying such things embarrassed him but his expression gave nothing away.

”They’ve been managing,” he said nodding towards the Zebstrika and Corviknight before his attention was grabbed by a skitty. He was already up and moving before his brain could fully register what he was doing. Once he was close enough to the skitty he slowed down before crouching down next to the overheated cat pokemon.

He didn’t want to intimidate the wild Pokémon so he wanted to come off as so big to the wild Pokémon. ”I’m going to help you to the water now. Do you think you can trust me,” he asked his voice soft and soothing as he reached a hand out towards the cat pokemon but didn’t touch. Leaving it to decide rather it could trust him.

Ever didn’t want to try and pick it up in case it spooked the wild Pokémon. Though he was training go be a Pokémon ranger he didn’t just assume that a wild Pokémon would accept his help. The young man didn’t want to put him at any more risk by causing it to waste energy.[break] @elliot

While he was soothing the Skitty with his words the older male approached. He kept an eye on the situation just to be sure nothing happened. Luckily the Skitty seemed to accept Elliot’s attention. Skitty weren’t known for being violent but it was a wild Pokémon, so one couldn’t be to careful.

Hearing his comment he nodded before looking around. He still kept an eye on things with his peripheral vision though. So he noticed when the older male gave the feline Pokémon some water. Something she seemed to enjoy. But considering how hot it was that was a given.

As the older male spoke he followed his gaze and nodded. ”That’ll work,” he agreed turning his attention back to the Skitty. After the interactions with the Pokémon he felt it would be okay to pick it up. Making sure to be gentle he picked it up and carried it over to the shaded spot Elliot had noticed. Then he gently placed it under the tree.

”I don’t suppose you have a small bowl with you?” he asked half rhetorically. If either of them had a small bowl they would be able to fill the bowl with a bit of water. The best he had was the lid to his thermos. But that might make the water taste a bit like coffee. So using that probably wouldn’t be the best idea.[break] @elliot

”I didn’t think you would. I would over the lid to my thermos. But I don’t think the Skitty would like the water to taste like coffee,” he said as he eyed the canteen that Elliot had on him. Perhaps this would could be used as a learning experience. That he should keep water dishes on him just in case something like this happened again.

He nodded in agreement to what he said. ”I agree and none of these leaves are big enough to use as a makeshift bowl either,” he said as he eyed some of the leaves along the branches of the trees. Nope too small to be of any use. And it wasn’t like he had anything to bring multiple leaves together to turn it into a makeshift bowl.

Hearing his suggestion he nodded. ”That could work,” he agreed as he watched the older male feed the Skitty some water from his canteen. Well that was fixed for now. But how long was the question. He supposed one of them could always make a quick trip into the city if they really needed to. But he would rather not have to do they if they didn’t have to.

Of course he wanted to. He loved Pokémon to much to turn a blind eye to one that needed help. Of course it would be the same if it was a person as well. Deep down he truly was a kind person even if how he interacted with others often made people think otherwise.

He nodded in agreement before turning his attention back to the Skitty. ”This heat is unreal. I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything about people passing out from the heat.”[break] @elliot

Yeah Pokémon had a habit of not liking coffee. Probably too bitter for them. That was the reason some people gave to not liking coffee. So even saying there wasn’t enough sugar and crème to make in bearable. It wasn’t really something he understood himself. But that was probably because he drank coffee like he needed it to live.

Listening to what he had to say he nodded in agreement. ”Yes, a bit of rain would be good. Though not to much rain. We don’t need a months worth of it,” he pointed out. But some rain to cool things down a bit would be good. Because this was basically torture. At least in his opinion it was.

His attention would be grabbed by the Skitty and he would watch it closely. It was clear he was ready to leap forwards if the Skitty fell or something. Luckily he didn’t need to. The Skitty let out a cry that sounded thankful before leaping away into the brush.

With the Skitty gone he supposed it was time for him to be getting home. It seemed Elliot seemed to be on the same wavelength when it came to leaving. Which wasn’t to surprising. Even with the shade they shouldn’t stay out for too long. Even if it had become more bearable considering the position of the sun in the sky.

The fact that Elliot had enjoyed meeting him was definitely a bit weird to him. His own father hadn’t liked him, so it was just weird for people to enjoy his company. His grandparents had been trying to undo everything he had learned from being around his father but it was slow going.

”It was nice meeting you as well,” he said mentally shaking himself.

His own Pokémon seeming to sense they were about to leave as well had returned to his side as well. ”Yes, I suppose so,” he agreed. ”Even with the temperature dropping a bit it’s still not a good idea to stay outside for to long.”

Returning Volt, his Zebstrika, to his Pokéball he was about to swing himself onto his Corviknight when Elliot spoke again giving him pause. ”Yeah I’ll probably get some food into my Pokémon as well. As for me I’ve always struggled with eating when I’m hot,” he told the older male frowning slightly.

His gaze would briefly flash down to the others hand before he would slowly take it and shake it. He still wasn’t big on physical contact. But a handshake was something he didn’t really mind. So he shook his hand before deciding he should give some response to what the older male said even if the last part of his comment had embarrassed him a bit. Still wasn’t real use to praise.

”Thanks,” he said after he had let go of the other males hand letting his own hand talk to his side. ”Wouldn’t be to surprising if we did run into each other again. With my line of work traveling isn’t to uncommon. And even when not working I like exploring but I still return home everyday,” he explained as he swung himself up onto Rook.

The Corviknight would allow him the time to wave before taking off. As Rook flew them back to Fortree he would think back a bit on the meeting he had had with Elliot.[break] @elliot
