"Yo- I-...Why?" he says stammering a bit, as his bitter heart grows more rotten with the second. [break][break]

"You never get mad at me, when I drink, when I go and do fucked up shit, I cause problems, I'm moody, I'm selfish.." he says as he starts to rag on himself. "I'm a terrible person and I look up to you so much cause you're everything that I'm not." as he rarely if ever became so vulnerable in front of someone. [break][break]

he sinks into the water. confronted with revealing himself didn't sit right with him, but not as much as leaving details out for bryan.

"why would you think i'm scared of you? me? the one and only priam conrad?"

he chuckles at his own exaggerated narcissism. eyes fall down to the water afterwards, too afraid to make eye contact.

"but it's not that. it's just... i don't actually know how to feel..."

he doesn't know what constitutes actual love. he's seen couples within the organization come and go. priam can only replicate what he sees, but what happens behind closed doors remain unseen.

bryan had been his only template so far.

"w-would you also-" let me do what i needed to cope in that situation?

he doesn't finish the question, and instead replaces it.

"do you think i love you?"

priam continues not to maintain eye contact. hands grab and squeeze his knees in the water as he finds himself stifling a laugh to cope with a different kind of stress he hasn't experienced before.

"I think you do. Or did...I expected you to get mad at me for it." he says as Bryan wanted him to be mad at him. He wanted Priam to anchor him down but it was obvious to him now that Priam was never going to do that really, he was afraid of him, he wouldn't even look him in the eye right now. [break][break]

"Do you love me?" he puts his hand on his shoulder, gripping it thighly to avoid clenching his fist. "I want a straight forward answer. Answer honestly, please.."

"i think i do love you, but if you're having doubts, then what if i actually don't and i just don't know it..."

his shoulders tense, and then relaxes the next moment. walls were being torn down for the sake of the conversation, dredging up realizations he made with himself during their trip to galar.

"you know how it is in rocket. you have to condition yourself, or else you won't last long. it's why i tried not to get you involved with the higher positions."

something tells him to shut up, but he's programmed to answer to superiors.

"how certain are we that what i'm feeling is genuine and isn't, like, just me being conditioned to mesh well with other people?"

His world begins to shatter around him. [break][break]

Memories turned sour before his own eyes as every request he's made of Priam plays through his head like a movie script. He never really disobeyed, he never really argued, he'd voice concern but would always follow what Bryan asked of him regardless of what it was. [break][break]

"So this whole time you're unsure if you've just been following orders?" For the first time since Soleil's death, a tear falls from the wolf's eye, however his expression remains neutral. Just how far had he grown disconnected from his emotions that he hadn't noticed this? How far had he bonded with Xerneas that his personality was being influenced? Would it be pleased with this? Would it view priam as a weakness? [break][break]

His mind raced, his heart rate began to rise, he had no answers, he had no experience with this before. He moves back from the water for a moment. "So If I ordered you to stop loving me, would you?" as he asks a deadly question.

the hypothetical question itself brings fear in priam.

"i guess this is the end of that trust then."

his muscles finally relax. he's pulling the plug so bryan doesn't have to.

"it's fine. rockets weren't meant to feel attached anyways. they always told me that's what gets you killed." he doesn't mean it to be a dig at bryan's immortality.

he gets up from the pool and stretches. he wrings out the excess water from his hair and casually wipes his face with whatever moisture was left on his palms.

"yeah, sorry bry. i'm not even sure how i'll act by my own. had to do it that way, else i won't survive, y'know?"

soft, weak, malleable. priam was nothing that he advertised himself as.

priam prepares to leave the room, giving bryan one last glance before exit to give him a chance to call him back. would he, though? he asks himself.

He stares at Priam as the love of his life stands up and begins to prepare himself to leave. Not answering his question directly but saying that the trust was shattered. [break][break]

He frowns, his frown turns into a look of anger, resentment, regret. Thousands of waves of emotion wash over him as he starts to lose control of himself much like a child. "That's it?" he asks as anger enters his voice "I ask you a fair question like that and you walk away? Whatever." he says as he stops himself momentarily. [break][break]

"Just go." he says as he starts to feel betrayed.

he knows him more than any other, and he knows what the influence of rocket does to the best of the best from experience.

priam waves from his back as he leaves, saying no more words to the rocket beast further. any more will just result to one thing, and he has spent enough time with him to know that nothing else will fix the situation at the moment.

there are no childish spiels. there are no tantrums that would have been expected from priam where he argues that he was always right. confusion with his inner turmoil has brought priam to check out from his persona.

i told you not to go too deep into rocket, bry.

despite trying to push the blame onto the other, priam can't help the sense of guilt from leaving. it was good for him, but the descent for bryan won't slow down now.

he was a rocket. he shouldn't feel bad for being selfish once in a while.
