[attr="class","text"] He never got used to seeing the enormous, pulsing organ that they were required to harvest from. Crystal formations had regrown up around it to replace what had already been mined by prior parties.[break][break]

Not one part of this place was normal. Nothing about the deep sea was tranquil. Every piece of it was unnerving and foreboding. At any moment, it felt as if someone would leap out of the shadows and attack him again. Or wrap him up in Interdream Mist until horrific memories played out in front of his eyes.[break][break]

But now that he’d been there a few times over with reliable workmates, he could keep a hold of himself a bit better. Not that it was better, but it was at least easier to stomach when he wasn’t alone.[break][break]

A weak smile returned to his face as he forced himself to calm down while they set up shop. “I’m glad you’re here,” he muttered to Rook, hand finding his to give it a squeeze. If there was anyone who made him feel the safest, it was Rook.[break][break]

Anxiety skittered under his skin, jangling his nerves. But it was alright. They’d be fine. “If you focus on the work, I can concentrate on handling the radiation.” It was a suggestion that he guessed might not fly with his partner, but hell if Lam wasn’t going to at least try to shield him.

It was a little overwhelming, this world. Though it was natural for Rook to feel a little overwhelmed by it all, he was lucky to atleast have Lam with him to face it. As long as Lam wasn't too visibly worried, he was sure it would be a breeze. Right? (Right?).

"I'm glad you're here too." It made him melt a little, to know he was the other's choice for this. As to be expected, and he was expecting it, Lam was preparing to take the brunt of the radiation. "What are you talking about? No way, we should do this together." There was no way he was going to stand behind Lam. Regardless of the situation, it didn't matter. Even if he was afraid of it, and the history they'd had within the deep sea. Though, he also knew that Lam could be stubborn.
