Having recently become the official gym leader for Dewford town Madison had to step up her pokemon game if she wanted to be taken seriously. Sure she knew what she was doing and had some good strategies in mind but she only had three pokemon to her name. And one of those three was a little baby smoochum, she couldn't throw that into important gym battles until it evolved or got stronger on its own. What she needed was some more training, or even some new party members. [break][break]

Luckily enough there was a spot in Hoenn that was known to be home to fighting and psychic types, the two types her gym specialized in. The jagged pass was quite literally the ideal place for her to go looking for new pokemon, no matter what she found today it had a chance to be a good member of her team.[break][break]

As she made her way up the pass Madison reached a hand into the side pocket of her backpack, making sure that her empty pokeballs were still there. They were loosely tossed in the side netting for easy access. The backpack did have plenty of other supplies though in case this hike ended up lasting longer then she intended.

Climbing up the jagged pass was a pretty decent work out in all honesty, something that the woman had been slacking on doing ever since she became a gym leader. Having taken a break from her more physically demanding pro wrestling career working out was kind of put on the back burner. This little trip was like hitting two pidgeys with one geodude, two goals getting done at once. [break][break]

It didn't take too long into the hike for Madison to come across a wild pokemon, it seemed that her first encounter of the day was another fighting type. However it wasn't one that she was particularly interested in adding to her team. At a first glance Primeape didn't seem to offer much that Gallade and Throh didn't already offer. Not that she had anything against Primeape it just wasn't exactly the thing for her.[break][break]

Knowing that it would probably be hard to just go around the Primeape without it actively noticing her Madison had to come up with a bit of a plan. She could fight it of course but the more she thought about the fact that the route here had the same typing as her own team the more she was against an unnecessary fight. It wouldn't be a real challenge its not like gym challengers would come rolling up with fighting and psychic types too.[break][break]

As well the temptation to just take them out super quickly with Gallade was high, it was also a method that wouldn't really help her train at all, she already had Gallade figured out.[break][break]

After a few moments of thinking Madison quietly took the bag off of her back and began to dig around in it, eventually pulling out a little bit of her own food, specifically an apple. Placing the bag back on her back she reeled her arm back and tossed the apple through the air, smacking a nearby tree with it. The noise distracting the Primeape and causing it to charge over to investigate.[break][break]

With the sudden food distracting the pokemon she continued on her hike, looking for the next pokemon.

After avoiding that wild primape it actually took Madison a decent amount of time before she saw another wild pokemon. Maybe the little noise distraction had scared off or distracted more then just the Primape? It was roughly another ten minutes into the hike that she actually spotted another wild pokemon. However this time as she spotted a pokemon spinning on top of its head the gym leader couldn't help but grin.[break][break]

A long time ago she was given a choice between two eggs, one contained her smoochum and the other as far as she knew would of been a Tyrogue. She had chosen one at random as either result would of been fine but she always did kind of want the Tyrogue. Even more she planned on evolving it into a Hitmontop if she did ever get one. And here was a wild Hitmontop spinning around, it was the perfect chance to capture one.[break][break]

Not wanting to waste any time at all Madison reached down to her belt and tapped the button on her first pokeball, releasing her Gallade in a quick flash of white light. The flash definitely grabbed Hitmontops attention so if she wanted to do this quickly she had to get a move on. "Psycho Cut!" [break][break]

Covering its blade like arm in blue energy the Gallade lashed out at the air, sending the energy flying towards the Hitmontop before slamming into it. While the super effective attack did seem to do some good damage to Hitmontop the wild pokemon wasn't down yet. Having fallen over from the attack it quickly got back onto its head and started spinning, sliding across the ground before slamming into Gallade with a series of rolling kicks.[break][break]

The blows knocked Gallade back and almost into it's trainer but the pokemon quickly held its ground and lashed out with a second Psycho Cut, this time the blow was enough to knock down Hitmontop. Reaching into her backpack Madison pulled out an empty pokeball and tossed it at the fainted Hitmontop to capture it.[break][break]

As long as the capture worked she planned to just have her Gallade use teleport to whisk them back to Dewford.
