[attr="class","textbox"]Before Isaac could say or do anything, the last member of his party came toddling up. Reverb wasn't just here to help Isaac with his quick change. Now, with an echo of an echo fallen, he was here to see what had happened for himself.[break][break]

The Valiant's expression was unreadable as Reverb approached. Neo remained close, prepared to be his bastion if something went wrong. Duster's posture tensed, prepared to be his blade. As they each took a half-step forward, Reverb held out a hand to wave them away. All the while, the Valiant watched, blade planted and body sparking. Even in his kneeling stance, he towered above Reverb.

Reverb looked him in the eye. Silence hung over Circhester, thicker than any blanket of snow. Without any warning, he launched forward to give the Iron Valiant a tight, protective hug. Neo's stance deepened. Duster startled. Yet this time it was Isaac's time to hold out a hand and motion for them to return to his side.[break][break]

As he nestled against the Valiant's chest, the light of evolution began to overtake Reverb. His body began to grow, pushed upwards by long, slender legs that left his silky body parting like a flower in bloom. His hair, too, seemed the lengthen, its previous bowlcut shape parted to the side as the horns atop his head began to rotate. His head rested atop the Iron Valiant's shoulder, the fallen knight dropping its glaive and wrapping its own arms around him.[break][break]

As the light of evolution passed, Isaac could swear he saw Reverb holding Echo one last time.[break][break]

He didn't have much chance to process it. A Pokeball hovered out from his bag, no longer under his control. With a smile on his newly revealed face, Reverb took a few steps back. He brought the Pokeball towards the Iron Valiant along a cloud of psychic powers, pressing it against its forehead with the utmost gentleness.[break][break]

The Iron Valiant vanished in a peal of light, and with it the red strings unraveled. Isaac and Genny had overcome their destiny.

Silence falls. The snow begins to melt. With the Valiant's disappearance, the trauma overcame, Circhester can be as it was. The memory everything Genny had been told, every picture she had ever seen displaying its beauty. The transient dream would fade in time. The Interdream Mist would dissipate in time.[break][break]

But when the sun begins to shine... Genny got to see it, just as it was in those images. Those photos. What it really was. What it could be.[break][break]

Seeing the red thread unraveled, the memories of those Pokemon, the lost ones would follow them, as she speaks. "Let me show you the place I was born." Two hands come for one of his own, and Genny's face embodies the sunlight; happy and bright. "Circhester is made of stone bricks, and has a hot spring underneath it to keep it warm in the mountains. It's called the Hero's Bath."[break][break]

Happiness swirls in the chest, and all Venus can do is wave to those images of the lost. Those memories who floated above, and followed them. They may not be real, but the Gardevoir knew that they would watch over these two.[break][break]

"Come on, Izzy! I want to show you!"[break][break]

Venus tilts her head that direction. Her Trainer didn't hide it at all, did she? The Gardevoir floats by, an attendant to her Trainer, happy to be involved. To be here, to see her so happy and giddy. Excited to show this guy the town.[break][break]

Sunlight always came after a dark night, after all.

Her hands claspsed his own. Her eyes were shining with excitement. Even the town surrounding them seemed to have a new energy to it. Flashes of what was and what could have been swirled around the cold, lonesome reality that Genny had once known. He'd snapped her out of her funk, but he couldn't take all the credit here. The warmth they were basking in now was all her.[break][break]

"Lead the way, Genny!" His own smile was every bit as bright as hers. He didn't fight hold grip on his hand as she turned to lead the way. In fact, his hand turned to more properly settle into the curve of hers. They didn't look like they'd survived a trip back to the worst night of their lives. Instead, they looked like they were happily sharing a trip across a winter wonderland.[break][break]

Reverb giggled as they started to walk, hand in hand. He elbowed Neo, who looked back over to flash the Ralts a knowing smirk. Duster simply looked puzzled. Why was everyone all giggly all of a sudden? Hadn't they just been fighting for their lives? Still, he scrambled to keep up, not wanting to get left behind in his confusion.[break][break]

It was time to cherish what was left of this fading dream.

It was so cute. Watching the bubbly energy that Genny had, exude from herself as she took him to every spot she could in town. Bits and pieces. A little more of the dream fades every moment. A little more of the memories looking over them. All of them...[break][break]

And slowly. Ever so slowly... those memories faded too. The fading dream disappears at parts. But in Genny's excitement, she would happily continue showing Isaac her birthplace. A place she herself didn't get to know well.[break][break]

It felt so right.[break][break]

And then.[break][break]

In their wonderland... the world fades back, and they are at the entrance to the caves. The grottos. The ice and snow was gone, replaced by the coming cold front of autumn. That memory, the Interdream, just a whisper on the wind.[break][break]

How long had Genny been enjoying holding Isaac close? She couldn't tell, but bubbles surge from her heart, and explode every which way. But now, it was time to get back to work.[break][break]

Just one more thing.[break][break]

"Hey. Isaac? Can you close your eyes real quick?" She asks, letting go of his hand, giving him the leeway to pull away.[break][break]

Venus, behind her, could sense her intentions. This girl was truly gumdrops and ice cream.

[attr="class","textbox"]The Hero's Bath. The largest of the hotsprings that dotted this town. Apparently, it was where Galar's heroes rested after they faced their greatest trials. What Isaac wouldn't have given to rest his weary head here alongside his companions before they were taken out of Galar as suddenly as they'd arrived.[break][break]

The Circhester Stadium. Isaac could feel Genny's competitive spirit bubbling under the surface the second she set hers eyes on it. Frankly, their little showdown with the Iron Valiant made it clear she was already a natural. Isaac just knew that, if she was going for the region's badges, she'd catch up to him in no time.[break][break]

The Salon. That one got a groan out of Genny, who must not've remembered it was there when she made the choice to cut her own hair. It was a little jarring at first, but now that Isaac was used to it, the new look suited her perfectly. It was way better than his first self-styled attempt, that's for sure.[break][break]

Bob's Your Uncle. The food there was apparently quite rich, and even its tinned versions were big in Galar. Genny's cheeks flushed that slightest bit when Isaac teased her about taking him there sometime. They both knew this dream wouldn't last for much longer, but it wasn't like the real Galar was going anywhere.[break][break]

The world was fading around them. Route 105 and Circhester City swirled together around them. Buildings opened to the entrances of yawning caves. Sands and snows blended together into a swirl of warm-toned and cool-toned whites. Winter seemed to roll backwards into fall. It was a nice diversion while it lasted, and a far better fate than Isaac had feared, but soon they'd have to return to the war.[break][break]

Why couldn't all of Hoenn learn from Galar as they had?[break][break]

Genny let go of his hand, but neither of them were in any hurry to pull back. Instead, softly smiling, Isaac let his eyes drift shut. Just what had Genny been planning?

The war returns. But for just a moment longer... the distraction sits in the air. Just a moment longer. Winter may be rolled back to autumn, but for just a moment...[break][break]

When Isaac closes his eyes... Genny can feel it in her ear. Her breath hitches quietly. She had a moment to really look at him, and how much different he was now. She thinks of her previous crushes, her relationships and what must be different to now. Why she felt so warm on the inside, and on the outside, she couldn't pinpoint.[break][break]

When she stands up on her tiptoes, she moves closer. She can hear her heart beating harder. Ba-Bum. Ba-Bum. Ba-Bum.[break][break]

Without fear, she closes the distance. And Isaac would feel warmth on his cheek. A pair of lips now placed there for just a moment. The winter disappears fully. The sunshine washing over all in a dusk orange lighting. The moment goes on for what must be a few seconds, but the thumping goes on for a while.[break][break]

And then?[break][break]

She pulls away. Her cheeks hot, her breathing heavy.[break][break]

"Thank you. Izzy." She looks away, a small smile on her lips, as she twirls a strand of hair with her finger, a small giggle echoing from her throat. There's a different feeling in the air now.

If Isaac was being honest, romance had been the last thing on his mind for a long time. It felt like every day, something big and dramatic and important was wrestling for his attention. August, a month that should have been dedicated to festivities and selfcare, was spent hunting for Caleb Harcourt and aiding Chu-e Choi in their masterpiece. September was taken up by the mist-spewing, water-walking Copperajah in the room, any "me time" snatched up by these strange, fantastical new powers.[break][break]

A part of him was still hurting over the one he'd failed. He could only hope she'd find the normalcy he was cursed to never know.[break][break]

Yet Isaac could also feel his heart skip a beat at the unexpected contact. A warmth he hadn't felt in months spread through his body. Was it from the kiss? Or was it from what it represented? He'd taken someone whose life was in ruins and reminded her what it meant to smile again. Now, here she was. Stronger than ever. Warmer than ever. Fuck, she was practically glowing.[break][break]

If he could matter this much to someone like her, maybe he was doing something right.[break][break]

"Anything for you, Genny." His blush deepened ever so slightly as he realized the words that came tumbling out of his mouth. A part of him wished they could just keep standing here. Another part of him felt oddly bashful about doing so. As the howling winds of Galar faded and the distant clamor of battle took its place, he realized their choice had been made up for them.[break][break]

"You take good care of yourself out there, alright?" There may have been an undercurrent of bashfulness to it, but his smile was a winning one all the same. "If we don't make it out of here in one piece, how're you gonna show me around Galar?"
