Mint grimaced from his perch as he watched the strange dream mist roll in seemingly out of nowhere. The LED face on his helmet turned into a frown instantly and he turns to his subordinate. "Are you familiar with the Interdream Zone Mist incidents?" he asked, nudging the egg head as he slide down from the rock he'd been keeping watch on. [break][break]

Strange noises began to echo in their cavernous tunnel. And the bit of light glowing off the tera crystals seems to dull as the cloud of mist came through. [break][break]

"It's the origin of the Paradox Pokemon but...also an incredibly dangerous phenomenon one's 'at risk' of losing themselves in."

Lulu Flint has given him digestible knowledge of the interdream mist, plus his own encounter with it in this very cave, but he wouldn't say he's intimately familiar with the phenomenon in just a singular day. [break][break]
he stands silently while the beast gives his take on it, arms folded against his chest, half-listening to the strange noises whistling down the tunnel towards them.

"You stay moving. Things wander in and out all the time. You will too, eventually." The mist was dangerous on its own, with risks of falling trapped into it. According to Holo anyway. DRK Triad or not, he was inclined to believe her warnings. [break][break]

"We've never...studied it closely I don't think. It'd be interesting to slap a track on someone running through it and then just watch radar for them moving through." he said with a shrug. [break][break]

"It'd been appearing a lot more often lately. Usually accompanying whatever shit storm this is." he added with a shrug. "Try not to forget you're hallucinating." he added as the weird mist thickened. "Though, it's easier when you have someone with you, I've found." he said as the ground rumbled. He looked over at Marcus before nodding. "We can move back out to avoid it. It clears out as quickly as it comes at times."

"i see."[break][break]he breathes in the new information alongside thickening interdream mist. he exhales a thoughtful, "i wonder why" in response to mint frost admitting the mist has been appearing in high frequencies lately. [break][break]
the cave floor shivers unsettlingly beneath their feet.[break][break]"we can," he agrees. "but if we can manage to stay together in this interdream zone, we may be able to continue forward toward the source." [break][break]the murmurs of paranoia whisper around them as the interdream mist begins to crawl up the cavern walls, snaking through the cracks.

"Yeah....maybe it's got something to do with surging infinity energy? Or any other many weird phenomena." he said as the pink mist began to snake around their ankles. "Sure, maybe you'll see one of those weird Paradox Pokemon, Doc." he said giving Marcus a thumbs up as they pushed forward. The already dim light darkens and the whispers and creature noises only increased. [break][break]

"I'd pick up speed though." he added. Something was coming up. The ground, though obscured by mist becomes greener, and it felt like the humidity was ticking up ever so slightly despite behind inside an underground cave. He turns to look at Marcus before seeing past him, glowing red eyes and twirling, floating hair. The FLUTTER MANE didn't move, locking onto their presence. [break][break]

"T-There's your first specimen." he whispered to the scientist.

marcus nods and mhms at mint frost 's urgency. he picks up the pace as best as he can in the uncertain darkness, gaze lowered to sweep the mist-obscured ground where his next step will take him. in the gloom, he notices the cave floor turning green. [break][break]odd, he thinks, then raises his head to look at mint as he processes his murmured words.

he turns his head away from the beast, following his neon gaze toward the red eyes glowing in the dark. a paradox pokemon, as his companion calls it.

"are they usually aggressive?" he whispers back, veiled eyes trained on the flutter mane. "this one isn't moving."
[break][break]
he reaches for a poke ball, movements slow and methodical to not attract too much attention from the pokemon. a quiet click! fills the silence as he unclips one from his belt. [break][break]

Mint is about to nod before the Flutter Mane lets out a horrible shriek. Apparently, they'd entered it's territory. Fun. It rushes in, but Mint's Fraxure leaps into the fray, acting as a barrier. He lets off a DRAGON PULSE tat pushes the screeching Misdreavous look alike away. [break][break]

"Ok so, running theory right? These things just appear- out of thin air." he said quickly. "The mist just birthed it- and now it's fucking confused and pissed." he added taking cover behind some mossy rocks jutting out form the side of their path. [break][break]

He has enough courtesy to yank Marcus' arm along with him as the Flutter Mane opens its mouth to unleash a SHADOW BALL.

on cue, the flutter mane lets out a teeth-gritting shriek and swoops in at them, but mint frost 's fraxure is quicker. marcus' pokeball slips from his fingers, cracking open against the cave floor and releasing his espeon. the psychic-type lets out a low growl in the back of its throat, tail lashing as it watches the interdream pokemon get buffeted away by the dragon's attack. [break][break]" — thanks." marcus says, ragged, once mint frost pulls him behind cover. the shadow ball fizzles against the ground where they had been standing just a moment before. [break][break]
if it's a ghost-type, he figures, a shadow ball should bring it to its end much quicker. [break][break]
"copycat," he commands, and his espeon volleys it right back at the misdreavus. beneath the shrillness of its pained scream, he turns his attention back to mint: "we need to get out of here before this mist 'births' any more of these pokemon."

"Double back?" he offered as his Fraxure tried to deter the FLUTTER MANE only to get tossed back by it right as the Espeon shot back its own attack at it. It bounces back in the air before floating back up and sending off a DAZZLING GLEAM. Neon's Fraxure tries to avoid it but the appearance of a second FLUTTER MANE from the gloom is enough to feel it as the new opponent adds its own FAIRY attack. [break][break]

Foxtrot screams and Mint is already grabbing Marcus' arm again urging him forward. "We'll cover, start moving!" he urged as he let out another pokemon. [break][break]

Linguini towers above the pair and begins to use ANCIENT POWER to block off the FLUTTER MANE form their retreating party. Mint waits for Marcus to race forward before sprinting after him. "Let's go!" he shouts, as his Tangrowth steps in between their enemies and them forming a living wall. The PSYCHOCKS that batter his partner make him dizzy as he blasts forward a GRASS TERA TYPED SLEEP POWDER before the confusion takes him out. [break][break]

Mint doesn't know what exactly happens, he just hears the Tangrowth smack into a wall as it tries to help the Espeon and them get away. Mint pulls out his pokeball clicking it open and hoping the light reaches Linguini's body in time before the FLUTTER MANE devour him.

it isn't ideal, but neither is wasting their pokemon (or their lives) on fighting a vengeful interdream ghost. marcus concedes to the plan with a nod, silhouette stark against the brilliance of the flutter mane's dazzling gleam. [break][break]mint frost grabs his arm, but this time he shoves him ahead instead of pulling him out of the crossfire. gravel scatters as he stumbles forward, muted beneath the sound of pokemon screams and the fireworks of fairy-type attacks. [break][break]the interdream mist thins as he nears the entrance to the cave. he glances back and sees the beast gaining ground behind him. the air behind them shimmers with a psychic that absorbs the twin flutter manes' stray attacks. he jogs to a halt once he reaches open air, turning back to look at mint and the threats receding into the dark behind him. [break][break]relief washes over him as he catches his breath, looking once at his espeon before moving toward mint. [break][break]"are you okay?"[break][break]
